The book is a relaxed exposition of scenes and situations of a cat. The cat is always reflecting on what objects and other living creatures might be doing or thinking, while mostly staying still and observing. It is an illustrated book.
It might be too slow paced for those looking for a story to read, as this is a collection of moments and not an active story. I recommend this book to people who may be going through hard times and need to slow down, sit, and look at the beautiful things of the world instead of letting themselves be stressed by the life-flow.

Love is the quietest thought of all….
This was so beautiful and calming. I think we should all be like George. It’s simple and sweet, we all need to sit and be still.

This was a really sweet and cute little story about a cat named George and what he thinks about when he takes the time to be still. The illustrations are really charming and take up most of the book. A short but adorable book.

A sweet story filled with love from the author about her sweet cat George while also reminding the reader to take things slow and enjoy even the smallest of moments in life. The art gorgeous and George is such a little cutie!

This is a cute and charming book that gives us a peek into the thoughts of a cat. If you’re a cat lover or simply enjoy animal stories, you’ll really appreciate this one. The art is beautiful and perfectly matches the cozy, relaxing vibe of the story. It’s a great read for when you want to unwind or need something light between more serious books.

We should all take a second and sit still - like George.
A cute, little book about the quiet love we can get from cats and the joys of sitting still and admiring the little things, like rays of sunshine.

This is a sweet book to browse through and the art style is super cute! In those few pages George took a little piece of my heart and I am not at all mad about it. Very cute - filled with nice anecdotes. Just don't expect a real story. But this is worth it for the art!

Thank you to Chantilly Cat Press and NetGalley for this ARC. This was a cute quick read for me. The illustrations were super cute and having 4 cats it made me think of my furbabies. The little descriptions of what cats are possibly thinking through out the day and the way we make them feel. It's such a cozy quick read super cute and just adorable. Definitely ones that cat parents will thoroughly enjoy.

What George Thinks When He Sits Still is a gentle, contemplative picture book that feels like a soft exhale. Told from the perspective of George—a thoughtful and serene cat—it celebrates the simple joys of being. The illustrations are tender and inviting, perfectly complementing the mood of the text and drawing readers into George’s calm world.
While the concept is sweet and the atmosphere comforting, the book leans more toward a series of quiet reflections than a cohesive narrative. The lack of a clear storyline and some repetition in tone make it less engaging. But it still is a meditative piece.

This is such a cute little book! I do think a little bit of clean-up with editing would make it a keeper. Some pages repeat the previous page but with a different graphic.

The artwork is adorable! As is George! I love the idea that the quiet isn't a bad thing.

Lovely little story about an adorable cat. It's told in verse, which I love, and it tells an important message. The illustrations are very cute.

My thanks to Netgalley and the author for the ARC.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review.

This a cute little book and I'd say it was aimed towards a younger audience but I think all audiences could read this and enjoy it.

The art is sweet and the colour scheme is warm and comforting. I did find some bits a little repetitive but it's nothing I'm mad at.

just an adorable book full of love. the illustrations are sweet, and seeing life through the eyes of George the cat is delightful.
obviously it's a quick read, but it's one of those books I can see people returning to for comfort, and sometimes that's exactly what you need from a book.

I was expecting more of a graphic novel format, but I still really enjoyed the cozy art style and the overall message.
The illustrations complemented the text nicely, with a good variety in the backgrounds and tone. However, I found the character expressions too limited—both the cat and the human had their eyes closed for most of the book, which gave it more of a bedtime story feel, even though the content didn’t fully match that vibe.

The idea of Gorge dreaming of himself as things like a lion or a pancake maker was cute but unfortunately it pulled me out of the story. I was hoping for a bit more variety in poses and more cat-like thoughts or treats—something a little more grounded in feline behavior.
The story was warm and gentle, though it did feel a bit raw or unfinished in some places.

I absolutely loved this!
It's the purrfect book to quietly reflect inwards on yourself while reading. What do you think when you sit still? I loved how the author had pages with no words but rather just George quietly reflecting. This book made me wish I was a cat. Just sitting still and thinking!

This is seriously the most ADORABLE book. Perfect for putting your kiddo to bed, but I would buy this for the adult cat lovers in my friend group. Who doesn't love a mindful cat? And by the way, the artwork is warm, cozy, and absolutely obsession-worthy. I want a George t-shirt now.

My autistic son loves cats, so I got this book for him to read as part of his summer reading program. This is what he said. "I have never loved a book so much! It brought secret tears to my eyes." I agree with his sentiment. This is an adorable story and encourages the importance of sometimes just being still. Kids are smarter than we give them credit, and I think they will absorb and learn the lesson the author is sharing, yet still find entertainment and love for our lead kitty cat, George. The illustrations are so beautiful and cute. Well done on the author's part. 5 stars and beyond!

What George Thinks When He Sits Still is a gentle readya bout a gentle cat! I would love to see how the pictures are layed out in a physical book. The breakdown of singular pages in the e-book I think hurts the book in ways, because every page is a separate thought or image. I do LOVE the illustrations, and the color palette as a calming affect that helps the reader immerse themselves into the cats world. I see this book as a successful collection of George poems or stories.
