I love a book that keeps me guessing and this one certainly did. I loved how I didn't discover the information till the very end. I had wow moments and that's what made the book for me.

Cora wakes up without a memory who she is, greeted by her concerned husband... whom she also does not remember. It's a fast-paced, bingeable thriller that was fun to read but ultimately was a little formulaic: the amnesia and the husband trope are a bit overdone/predictable at this point and the resolution did not offer a meaningful twist to them.

Thank you NetGalley and L.G. Davis for this ARC!!!

L.G. Davis’s Not His Wife is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps readers hooked with its blend of suspense, secrets, and shocking revelations. The novel follows a woman caught in a web of lies and betrayal, where nothing—and no one—is quite what it seems. As the story unfolds, Davis weaves together past and present, slowly revealing the truth behind a seemingly perfect life.
The pacing is brisk, with short, tension-filled chapters that make it easy to read “just one more.” The twists are frequent and unexpected, pulling the reader deeper into the mystery with every turn of the page. Beyond the thrills, the novel also touches on deeper themes of identity, trust, and the lengths people will go to in order to protect themselves—or hide the truth.

Verdict: Not His Wife is a binge-worthy thriller, perfect for fans of domestic suspense who love shocking twists and dark secrets.

Not His Wife is a very good read.
A suspenseful, domestic drama with a thriller aura.
Cora wakes up and has lost her memory and doesn’t know who she is.
She is in a house with a man stating that he’s her husband.
Also living there is Aunt Mary, who has dementia.
Caring for them is Lina.
Then someone says to her “you are not his wife”.
Things begin to unravel as Cora investigates.
It’s sharp, clever and totally addictive.
I really liked the mystery, intrigue and the cloak and dagger.
Short chapters and lots of curiosity.

This was a smart, twisty psychological thriller that kept me hooked until the very last page. Just when I thought I was piecing the story together, a new revelation would hit and even my wildest theories did not come close to the truth. The story follows a woman who wakes up after a terrible fall with no memory of her past. She is in an unfamiliar house, greeted by a man who claims to be her husband, but something feels off. As she struggles to recall anything about her life, her instincts tell her there is more to this than she is being told.

The tension builds gradually through vivid descriptions, emotional depth and well-crafted reveals. The female lead was such a breath of fresh air. She is strong, instinct-driven and unafraid to dig deeper for the truth. The male lead kept me guessing the entire time, and I could never decide if he was genuinely trying to help her or hiding something. The dual POV format worked perfectly, giving two sides of the same unsettling puzzle and keeping me invested from start to finish.

The first half focuses on setup and character development, drawing you in with an undercurrent of unease. The second half bursts with high-stakes twists, shocking reveals and moments that had me on the edge of my seat. I was second guessing every character and every motive, and just when I thought it was over, the epilogue delivered one final jaw-dropper.

This was my first book by her and I will definitely be reading more.

When she wakes up in the hospital, he tells her she was in a coma because of a terrible fall. She remembers nothing, including her own name. Evan reassures her that she will be okay in time, and although he tells her that her name is Cora, she feels odd and uncertain in this strange state of affairs. She doesn't recall their wedding, home, or strange elderly relative who lives with them.
She doesn't help Cora's confusion when she snarls at Cora that she does not belong there and should get out. Is it the dementia that made the old woman speak to her like that? This isn't what she needs to aid her recovery.
How do you become so totally unaware of your own life? At least.. her husband, Evan, is there to help her recover in body and mind. Right?
I could see myself fighting with Evan and telling him to back off and stop using up all the air in the room.
What an ending! The whole revelation was eerie and the final words were creepy, leaving me to think, 'they walk among us'.
This was a very good tale that I could not put down, and I gasped at the ending.

Thank you to the author and publisher for sending me a copy of the ARC. Alk opinions are my own.

This one was such a quick, easy and bingeable read. All the chapters were so quick to read and just flew by. It was hard to put down and the storyline was so intriguing. It did feel a tad rushed, but honestly sometimes you just need a quick popcorn thriller and this one delivered.

This utterly addictive psychological thriller immediately pulled me into its chilling and claustrophobic premise. I was instantly invested in the protagonist's journey, which begins in a dark room with a stranger claiming to be her husband and a past that is completely gone.

The narrative follows the woman, given the name Cora by her husband, Evan, as she navigates a new life that feels deeply wrong. As I read, I felt her growing unease and suspicion, particularly after finding another woman's belongings and hearing the terrifying warning from Evan's aunt: "Get out. You're not his wife." The author expertly crafts an atmosphere of dread and mistrust, making me question what truths are hidden in the sprawling farmhouse and, more specifically, in the locked basement.

The book maintains a relentless and suspenseful pace, with each discovery tightening the knot of tension. The suspense is masterfully handled, keeping me consistently invested in Cora's quest for her memories and the identity of the woman who lived there before her. The thrill comes from watching her push for the truth, knowing that the real story—and her own secrets—could be far more dangerous than anything Evan has told her.

I appreciated the author's ability to craft a story that is both a thrilling mystery and a deep dive into psychological manipulation and the search for one's true identity. It’s a solid choice for those who enjoy domestic thrillers packed with shocking twists and turns.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Not my first L.G. Davis read so I knew it would be good but, in my opinion, it turned out to her best. A slow-burning thriller but once the reveals started to unfold, I just couldn't put this book down, and they kept coming right up to the last page.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review

Cora wakes up, after an accident, to find that she has lost her memory; she doesn't even recognise her husband, Evan, who appears to be the perfect husband!

Right from the word go, this novel left me feeling unsettled, knowing that something wasn't right. the plot however was so tightly drawn that it was difficult to work out what hence the need to read far too late into the night. As Cora's story unfolds and the pieces of the puzzle come together, we discover that all is not as it seems...

The novel had a great premise however, the introduction of a seemingly unrelated character mid-book didn't work me and the tension that had built up felt like someone had knocked the jigsaw I was putting together, off the table.

Not His Wife is a totally gripping psychological thriller that grabbed me from the first page! The story is very dark and intense, kept me wanting more after each chapter. I did not want the story to end, and when it did end I was in total shock!

This story follows Cora who has no recollection of her past life but her husband is so caring and fills in the gaps in her memory that she can’t help but trust him. Trust me, you will want to read this book from the first page until the last page!

Many thanks to #NotHisWife #NetGalley and #Bookouture for providing me with an E-ARC of this 5 Star psychological thriller.
