Rosie tries to fix a malfuntion portal with the age-old tried and true method of smacking it, works every time 99% of the time, but unfortunately gets electrocuted to death. Which isn't much of an issue since she's immortal, but it's definitely inconveniant. Along with her partner Duckers, the actual inventor of the portals Adam Lee, and an old friend who tries to save his soufflés before they deflate she gets stuck in Tanria. Hijinks definitely ensue. I gotta say Rosie isn't as charming a character as either of the couple in the first book, but I still had so much fun with this one!

The Good:
- In general the narration is really good and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook.
- The Duckers and Zeddie relationship going on in the background was funny and realistic.
- Adam has this thing going on where we know he's keeping secrets and appears to be such a tortured soul. This can get very annoying in the wrong hands, but it really worked in this book. Brava for knowing how to write this trope.
- The latter bit of the book where our main characters go through this mythical journey was so lovely, Ghibli-esque even. It gave us more insight in the mythology of this world. I wish a longer portion of the book was devoted to it. Very Ghibli-esque even.
- We got another cute nimkilim full of character. Loved him!

The Could be better:
- To expand on my previous point: the pacing could've been better. I wish the story was cut in two so we get the first half with the whole gang and the second half journeying through gods' realms. This would also fix the issue a lot of reviews mentioned: that the book reads as fan service.
- I don't mind sleezy characters or promiscuity. But the whole fancy underwear obsession that Rosie had was a bit on the nose.

The Bad:
- I'm not sure how I feel about Rosie's dad and their relationship. I get that it's complicated, but it doesn't feel as fleshed out as for example the familial relationships in the first book. As a result the ending didn't have as much of an impact on me.
- Why does Duckers suddenly have such a surfer accent? It really threw me off and was pretty annoying.

Despite that I liked the first book more, this was a fine addition to the series. I genuinely enjoyed myself. And as I keep discovering: mature romance stories FTW! While it does feel like this world and its stories are neatly wrapped up I wouldn't mind it if Bannen wrote another book in this series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for providing me with an Audio ARC. All opinions are my own.

The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is a lovely ending to the series. Rosie is a great character, I loved her fearlessness, which I suppose is easy when you literally cannot die. Adam is a great addition to the cast of characters as well, I felt the tension was done well and forgive the insta love just because I adore these characters. Romance wise it’s a joy to read, definitely warmed the heart! In this book we also get more dragon glitter and some riding, which I very much enjoyed. The humour and tone are the same as the other books in this series, it’s very much an expansion of what’s come before and I wanted nothing more and nothing less. This series is great for those looking for some cozy fantasy romance that’s focused on older characters. I also need to take a moment to mention that the narrator for this series is absolutely amazing. The characters are brought to life and I couldn’t listen to the smooth tones for days. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

I loved this so much! Cozy fantasy is my all time favorite genre and the added romance made this top tier. This is my first book in the series, I’m 100% kicking myself for not reading these sooner! The emotional range had me giggling one minute and sobbing the next, I can’t recommend this one enough. The audiobook did start a little slow and was mildly confusing for me but I believe that’s because I hadn’t read the others in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for the chance to listen to this in return for my honest review.

I am obsessed with the Hart and Mercy series. Megan Bannen knows how to make us laugh and is so talented. I love a good fantasy rom-com and I love the FMC Rosie. She is hilarious.

This series is so great. Absolutely loved the ALC of book 3. You basically get a little bit of everything from romance, found family and the mystery element as well. Rosie and Adam are just great!! Just imagine being alive for over 100 years and you're so bored that dying by electrocution again seems add spark to your eternity rut! Rosie is hilarious. Being trapped with Adam doesnt seem too bad either!

I am such a fan of this series, that when the audiobook came up on Netgalley, I jumped on it so fast and could not put it down! Rosie has been such an interesting part of this series that it was lovely to see her get her own story. The world building in this book is just *chef's kiss*.

Rosie (or RoFo to you Duckers) is the immortal daughter of the Trickster god. She's the tall and sarcastically loving best friend that everyone needs in their lives, but behind the face she shows to the world is a woman of depth and sadness who has watched everyone she loves die as she lives her life forever, but instead of giving in to the sadness she becomes a marshal in Tanria and grabs all of the joy she can out of life.

However, Tanria is in trouble and the portals are breaking. Adam Lee, the genius inventor of the portals, comes back to try to figure out what is going wrong, which leads to Rosie, Duckers, Adam and Zeddie becoming trapped in Tanria. This is where the mystery and romance really picks up. Rosie and Adam are so sweet and their relationship is full of such respect and humor.

The audiobook of this story was wonderful and the narrator was so compelling and dynamic. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Hachette Audio for an Audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️🌶️

Words cannot express how much I love this series. The world, the whimsy, the romance, the humor, the emotions... Top tier. I felt so lucky to receive an ALC of this audiobook. Kacie Rogers did an excellent job with the narration, and of course Megan Bannen's story is *chef's kiss*

Read this book if you like:
*grumpy hot guys in glasses
*dragons
*forced proximity romance
*Hart Ralston
*fun fantastical worlds
*happy, whimsical, cozy books with just enough danger

Thanks to netgalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review

I thoroughly enjoyed the Undercutting of Rosie and Adam. As the 3rd book in this series it was fun to learn more of the backstory about the world. Roise might actually be my favorite character in this trilogy. I love how confident she is which I am sure is helped by being immortal. While her connection to Adam was quick, learning the backstory of their lives gave it deeper meaning.

I am going to miss this world, and am glad the trilogy was wrapped up so well. These three books will be in my re-read stack when I need something fun to read.

Thank you to Megan Bannen, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for the audiobook ARC!

I really enjoyed the banter from Rosie (RoFo), I love the phrases she uses, it’s the sort of thing I say.
I love that she’s not your typical petite, skinny FMC, and whilst she occasionally has her moments, she owns it.
The comity itself felt a little repetitive at times (one character asks a question, and then a different character asks the same question), and there were a few moments where I wasn’t sure if I had accidentally skipped the audio back and was re-listening (I didn’t, I checked). But apart from that, I enjoyed it, and I’d like to read more from this author.

I loved this just as much as Hart & Mercy’s book! Rosie was such an entertaining character, and somewhat unique of a protagonist, given the can’t-die-demi-god aspect. She had her own quirks, and I loved that she was so open and friendly (almost to the point of obliviousness). I also loved Dr. Adam Lee as the love interest, and a mystery to solve throughout the book. Without spoiling it, I’ll say that the breadcrumbs were definitely there, but the reveals were excellently done.

The plot in each of the three of these books has been unique, though borrowing from the same world. This one had a bit more backstory and lore regarding the gods, which I found very engaging. The minor characters also continue to be excellent. Duckers is one of the best supporting characters in any novel I’ve read recently.

The romance was also sweet and felt earned, though quick. I think this will definitely be a hit for anyone continuing the series.

The audiobook narrators (Kacie Rogers & Jim Frangione) did a spectacular job. Kacie was a great narrator for Rosie, and her voices for other characters (especially Adam and Duckers) were wonderful and distinct. Jim’s story within a story worked very well, and I loved production’s choice to change the narrator and narration style to more of a fairytale/storybook feel.

I’m sad our time in Tanria is done, but I think this wrapped up the trilogy well, and I’m glad for the epilogue. Though I don’t think the story really needed it, it’s always nice to know that everyone is happy and moving forward.

Thank you to Megan Bannen, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for the audiobook ARC!

🎧 Big thanks to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Megan Bannen for the audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Listen… I honestly really liked this one 😍 Did I know it was the third in a series? Nope! 😅 But that didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed it from start to finish. It totally works as a standalone, though now I’m definitely going back to read the first two 📚✨

The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is a romantic fantasy set in the magical, slightly chaotic world of Tanria—home of dragons 🐉, donuts 🍩, and now, an unexpected love story between immortal demigod Rosie and genius inventor Adam 🛠️. When the portals begin to fail, the two are forced into close quarters in the Mist… and let’s just say, the sparks fly 💥💞

With its blend of humor, heart, and high-stakes adventure, this story delivers on both the fantasy and the romance. Themes of love, change, and connection shine throughout 🌌

📅 Pub date: July 8, 2025 — don’t miss it!

I came I to this series without reading any Megan Bannen and felt like I lost out a little on the story so will be picking up the first of the series

I received an ARC of this audiobook from NetGalley. When I say I ran to NetGalley and set up an account to request this book, I mean I RAN. I fell in love with this series when I read the first book. I have loved the all of the characters, but Duckers is probably my favorite. Rosie was hilarious and has no filter. I love a grumpy/sunshine. And the banter was great. For me to be as a good cozy read. Thank you NetGalley and Megan Bannen for letting me listen to this lovely book.

This was such a sweet romance and fun fantasy. Megan's books are a easy escape and I love this world so much. I read hundreds of romance books and this is the first time I've read one with a short man, more of this please! He was so hot. This book made me want to eat good food and buy fancy lingerie. Highly recommend.

Tanria is in danger and needs to be evacuated. A ragtag team works together to ensure everyone else is out, keeping the portals open as long as possible, before being trapped indefinitely. What follows is an emotional journey figuring out how to escape and be able to move on, while also holding on to what makes each person special.

I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, finding myself so happy to be back in the world Megan Bannen has created, with cameos from the other characters in the series thus far. The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam takes place after a considerable gap from the previous book, which took a second to reorient myself. However, once I was in, I was committed to finishing and see the story through. I felt the ending was incredibly perfect for Rosie and Adam, specifically, and loved it.

The narrators do a great job at bringing the story to life.
What is the point of living forever, if love is only temporary?

Yhe vocabulary of one of my favorite characters was dwindled down to "WTF" literally EVERY TIME HE HAD A LINE. In the first book, Duckers was really likable. His prominence dwindled in the second, and he had less of a personality. Now, in this third installment, all he has to say is "What the F***", I mean, WTF? And I really think the narration for this character made him sound incredibly unlikable.
I don't think the narration matched what we've previously learned about Rosie either.

With such hate listed above, I still enjoyed this and would continue the series if the author chose to. I did enjoy the ending, and I really liked Adam and Rosie's dynamic. My second favorite relationship after Hart & Mercy.

I absolutely adored this book. To be fair I have adored every book in this series. But Bannens characterization and unique world keeps me captivated. And this relationship is so tender— I loved being lost in this world.

I have been waiting for this book and Megan Bannen did not disappoint! As the title suggests it follows Rosie and Adam but they had a lot of the side characters that we love from the previous books as well. This book made me laugh out loud (do not listen to this while weight lifting at the gym!) and tear up. I did not want to put this one down. There was a beautiful slow burn and some very interesting turns that I didn’t see coming. If you are a fan of the first 2 books in the Hart and Mercy series then I think that you will really love this book as well.

The narrators did a fantastic job as well. Kacie Rogers was able to perfectly embody all of the characters and really brought them all to life and keep them all true to the character.

A wonderful finale to one of the best romantasy series ever! Megan Bannen is absolute magic when it comes to writing original, unique stories full of heart and hope. This had incredible pacing with just enough slow-burn and steam that anyone would enjoy it. Highly recommend this series to anyone!!

I think my favorite part of this whole series was the worldbuilding. Tanria, the mists, the gods, the mythology, even the autoducks, were such fun and complex ideas that really makes this series unique. I love how Bannen explored so many different parts of the world without ever leaving Eternity so we still get to see our favorite characters but the story still feels fresh and new for each book. I really enjoyed learning more about the astral plane and the Gods in this one.

Rosie was such a fun character and such a different FMC from Mercy and Twyla. I was so happy to see Duckers and Zetty back in this one. I loved the sibling like bond Duckers has with Rosie, they made such a fantastic pair. I love how much this series which started with two very lonely people has basically grown into a giant found family.

My main down side was the almost insa-love between Rosie and Adam. I think in the second half of the book the relationship is more developed, but it felt off for our longest living FMC to fall in love the fastest.

I also didn't really connect with the feelings of wishing for mortality that Rosie is struggling with, which did play a pretty large role in this story.

As this is the final book in the series I will miss Tanria and the dragons that throw up glitter.

Thank you to Megan Bannen and Hachette Audio, Orbit, and Netgalley for providing an advance copy of the audiobook.
