Rosie and Adam are my favorite couple so far! Megan Bannen pulled out all the stops with this third voyage into Tanria and completely won my heart in the process. I have loved and enjoyed every character in this world, each of the couples are endearing in so many ways, but something about Rosie and Adam had me hooked from the very beginning. I loved Rosies vulnerability and the humanity that she expressed, despite her immortal lifespan. Her interactions with those around her were never dull and I especially loved the self-love that she achieved through her character growth along the way. Despite her height being well outside of societal norms, she learned to love and appreciate herself for everything that she was and everything that she had to offer. Adam experienced similar growth himself, and I squealed with excitement when they finally stopped fighting the chemistry between them amidst their bid to save Tanria.
This book really took me through all the emotions, and I loved every minute of the journey. I've never experienced a world quite like Tanria before and I doubt I ever will again. There is such a unique mix of heartfelt romance, suspenseful unpredictability, and hold-on-to -your-hats adventure that there really wasn't a dull moment. Add in some excellent banter (one of my favorite things) and unique characters that don't fit the traditional mold, and you have a one-of-a-kind series with true "Hart" that I know I will still be thinking of for many years to come.
The audio for The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam was just as delightful as the other installments of the series have been. I love the way the narrators brought the characters to life and the way their inflections and tone really helped to fully immerse me into the story. Jim Frangione and Kacie Rogers both did an expert job and only heightened my enjoyment of the book.

Love this series and so happy to get back into this world, however the huge time jump between book 2 and book 3 was a bit jarring i feel like we missed a lot of getting to know Rosie and Duckers as a team and seeing how there friendship grew as Duckers is fantastic and needs all the page time he can get.
Overall I was disappointed with this book, honestly I expected more from Rosie as her character was displayed as a total BadAss in the previous books, in this one it felt like her whole personality was sexy underwear and dying without dying. To a point I understand why she is feeling down but we don’t get to see any of the joy from her life.
Adam was bland. His character while having some interesting moments was overall bland. I can’t even say anything else
I will say the narrator did do a great job at this and was able to get me sucked back into this world.

The Undermining of Twyla and Frank was a 5 star read for me, so I came in with high expectations. This one was fine, but I didn't love it like the first two.
I enjoyed Rosie as a character, her fearless struggle to stay alive, her infatuation with pretty undergarments, and her refusal to let her feelings about her "father" pop in and out of her life without voicing them.
I loved that we got more time with Duckers & Zeddie, and enjoyed the partnership & friendship between Rosie and Duckers. Unfortunately, Adam didn't pull me in, and although I enjoyed the unraveling of their history, I wasn't invested in their relationship; I didn't feel their chemistry building, so I had a hard time rooting for them the way I have in the previous books.
Overall, this series is really fun. I love the unique world, and appreciate that all three stories aren't rinse and repeat. We get completely different storylines and tropes, with little cameos from original characters.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the audiobook ARC. The narrator did a wonderful job, and I would absolutely listen to more books she narrates.

This one is really good. A fresh new whimsical story. I had no idea it was third in a series, and honestly, I don’t feel like I am missing anything. The banter! The FMC is SO GREAT with her banter. The extroverted confident tall immortal FMC meets short introverted quiet second MMC (there is another coupling set of MMCxMMC exes that is also adorable and fun to follow their drama). There is so much chemistry in each of the couples, you ship both right away. The world building is wonderful and well executed. The addition of dragons is also super fun – but not the whole focus of the story which is nice. The twist you may or may not see coming, but hey – it’s a romcom. We all love that we can guess what is going to happen. I am seriously going to go read the first two now, just because this one was so good. Oh, and a gold star for the name of her cat. Haha.
The narrator also did an amazing job with all of the characters in this. Her tone was smooth and it was easy to determine who was who. Great job!

What an absolute knockout of a conclusion to the Tanrian Marshals Trilogy. Chaotic, messy, and gloriously unfiltered in all the best ways.
Rosie is everything - a firecracker wrapped in immortal swagger, with emotional bravery to match. She might keep a few cards close, but the rest? Laid bare with a fierce take-me-or-leave-me confidence. And Adam… sweet, reserved, aching Adam. He’s her perfect foil - quiet and careful, scarred by a past that makes his slow, tentative unfurling feel sacred. Every time he lets down a wall, it’s like watching a red briar bloom which is fitting, since the briar metaphor is woven through the entire book with masterful precision.
The father-daughter storyline starts simple but lands with devastating weight. Not the first “ending,” but the ending - that moment of raw, aching validation we all secretly crave from our parents? It wrecked me. I cried with Rosie, and I’d do it again.
And let’s talk about the audiobook: flawless. Kacie Rogers is Rosie - she radiates attitude, wit, and charm with every word. Her ability to give each character a distinct, fitting voice was nothing short of magical. And Jim Frangione’s chapters as Adam? They hit like a whisper and a thunderclap all at once. Normally I’m a duet narration purist, but the switch here? Perfectly deliberate, perfectly executed.
This book was a gift. Rosie and Adam will live in my heart rent-free for a long, long time.

A great third book in the series, Bannen never fails to bring together a fun and whimsical sorry that keeps you engaged till the end. It’s rare but she was able to have me guessing on how this book was to end and I can happily say the ending is everything you want and more. The book it a perfect blend of Fantacy with that a sprinkle of romance and spice. I would recommend reading the other two book before this but is not a requirement.

I am kinda speechless which is a problem because I’m supposed to be writing a review for this ALC. But what it comes down to is that I love the Tanrian Marshals series so much and I’m so sad it is over but what a way to close it out! This was such an incredibly satisfying series with characters I adored, amazing banter, beautiful depictions of love, and adventures that had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t have imagined a better ending for these characters I have grown to love so much.
Rosie and Adam were absolute perfection. I loved Rosie’s humor and nonchalant attitude about her mortality. I loved that even though she knew she was going to outlive her friends, it didn’t stop her from loving them. Her friendship with Penrose (Penny-D is seriously the cutest nickname ever) made me giddy. They were each other’s ride or d!e bestie.
I loved watching the tightly contained Adam slowly but surely come unglued when it came to Rosie. His history was so fascinating and made him a perfect match for Rosie. Both were so focused on helping others that it wasn’t until they were forced together for this mission that they were able to face their feelings and think about what made them happy. Both of them having an appreciation for the finer underthings in life was such a cute commonality.
I’m not going to lie, when I realized that this was the last book in the series and it wasn’t named after Penrose, I was a little worried because I have been waiting for his and Zeddy’s book since meeting them in Hart and Mercy. But this book was like two in one because Rosie wasn’t the only one to get her HEA.
I really enjoyed the audiobook. Jim Frangione and Kacie Rogers did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life.
I’m going to go stare into space for a while as I think about how much I have loved this series. I seriously can’t recommend it enough. I think it is time for a reread because I am not ready to leave Tanria yet.

Megan Bannen is 3 for 3 in this Hart and Mercy series. I have loved every book in it. She has created a wonderful fantasy world in Tanria with wonderful characters that you care about. The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam, involves our Tanrian marshal Rosie who seems to see a problem with the portal to Tanria and the Adam, an engineer and inventor of the portal. He seems to know more about the problem than he is letting on. This is a wonderful opposites-attract fantasy rom-com.
Thank-you to Netgalley and Hachette Audio for the advanced listener copy. The narrators, Jim Frangione and Katie Rogers brought the characters to life and kept me listening. I will miss this series, I enjoyed all of the characters and their heartwarming stories.

Honestly, this book was confusing. I know that they are interconnected standalones, but I still was lost when it came to the world this took place in. I found the characters to really hard to connect with, the dialogue wasn’t for me, and I didn’t really connect with the chemistry of the main characters.

Almost as good as the first book, and better than the second! Part adventure story, part slow-burn romance. Loveable main characters and well-developed side characters who bring dimension to the relationship and plot. The FMC and MMC are good foils for each other, which also helps with their individual development.
The plot was fun, with just the right amount of “oh no!” to keep things interesting.
Audio production was fantastic! Loved the narration!

I have enjoyed every single moment of this series, the characters are all so loveable, saying goodbye to Tanria hurts so good 😩
my favorite components of this story were the banter, the romance, the mystery sub plot, found family and of course...DUCKERS
I absolutely loved the narration and hated to have to hit the pause button. Bannen's writing is truly top tier and the narration brings the story to life so well.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, Orbit Books, & Megan Bannen for this chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the third book in the Tanrian Series and I do not believe you should read it as a standalone. As a favor to your brain and heart- I truly believe a person should read the whole series. There is so much you won't appreciate without the lore of the first two books.
Each love story in this series has been so different from each other. It's taken us on such a ride through perspectives and priorities but still the spirit of this dystopian land has been the same. Everything is so witty, snarky, and perfect.
Rosie and Adam's story was everything I didn't know I needed. And getting MORE Zeddy and Ducker's?!? They have been the gift that keeps giving since book 1. I related to (and found comfort in) the examination of grief and the passage of time.
Narration was VERY well done. I especially liked the second narrator when they came in- they were used so wisely to put us in the second story!

I rated this book 4.5 stars and rounded up to 5.
The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam takes place 10 years after the second book, following Rosie Fox, a demigod who cannot stay dead. She does die, frequently, but will revive minutes later. While watching a tech fix a portal into Tanria, she sees and touches a shadow in the mechanism, killing herself and the portal. Adam, the inventor, comes to fix the broken portal when they realize that more than the one portal could be at stake. The Marshalls decide to evacuate Tanria, but one person gets stuck in Tanria with Adam, Rosie, and Duckers. Of course, it is Ducker's ex boyfriend, Zeddie. Can they all work together to find a way back to their world?
This was a wonderful conclusion to the Tanria books. Bannen knows how to write characters with heart and wit. The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam was one of my most anticipated books this year and it did not disappoint.
Rosie has a complicated relationship with her father, the Trickster god. He tries in his own way to have a relationship with her, but she feels like he doesn't try at all. She is also 157 years old, contimplating the point of living when everything else around you will die.
Duckers is always the highlight of the book and I was happy to see his second chance at romance with Zeddie. A little piece of me died when they broke up in the previous book.
The narrator did a wonderful job. I enjoyed how she had different voices for the characters and understood the dry humor.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachett Audio for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I would like to thank the publisher for sending me an audio-arc in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.
Rosie is an immortal demigod, alive for the last one hundred and fifty-seven years. While on patrol, Rosie comes across a portal full of shadowy thorns that only she can see... and then she dies. Again. But because she messed with it, the portal needs to be repaired. Enter Dr. Adam Lee. And when all the portals begin to break down, they call for an emergency evacuation, leaving Rosie and Adam trapped within the Mist. The two of them will have to work together to solve the problem of the plants in order to try and escape, but as they work together, Rosie realizes that Adam isn't as clueless as he lets on. The both of them have donned armor to protect themselves, but maybe, in the Mist, they'll have to strip themselves down and let the other truly see them, before it's too late.
Let me start off by saying I'm happy we got everything in this, and by that I mean how it all comes together -- we get a glimpse at Hart and Mercy, and Twyla and Frank, and we get a lot more of Pen and Zeddie and it's just perfect. I really liked the way the gods are much more important in this book than ever before, and the fact that this is the final installment in the trilogy made me both sad and happy. Sad because it's over, happy because of how it ends. I loved the whole plant thing, and the way we learn about Adam's connection to it. However, there were some things I didn't like about this, and most of it is because of Rosie herself. She comes across as a little... much. Like, for a one hundred and fifty-seven year old demigod, she acts like a modern teen, and it got a little annoying at times. When it comes to the two of them, I love the whole height difference -- hooray for short kings! Their banter was great, and I love how super up-tight Adam lets his guard down around her. I also love the lack of the dreaded third act break-up and how the two of them work together to solve everything. With that being said, I loved how this book brought everything together and tied it all up. I'm going to miss this world.

I loved returning to this richly imagined world and spending more time with Adam, Rosie, and the familiar cast from previous books. The romance was heartfelt, and I especially enjoyed how their journey led them to mortality together.
Rosie’s dynamic with her father was intriguing, but I found myself wishing that it had been explored even more deeply. The audiobook was very good, but at times the narration sounded a bit robotic.
While it doesn't quite top Hart and Mercy for me, it definitely came close :)

Thank you Netgalley and Orbit for the audiobook ARC!
The portals are malfunctioning and nobody knows why, but Rosie (a demigod) notices some shadows lurking in the machinery. In comes Adam Lee, inventor of the portals to try to fix the machinery. Rosie, a bold outgoing and seemingly carefree individual finds herself attracted to Adam, who is serious and closed off.
I definitely enjoyed the first half of this book - the dynamic of super tall immortal Rosie with the “pocket sized” 5 foot 3 Adam. The ballsy and irreverent marshall plus the serious and classy inventor was a fun dynamic. I also loved the deer mail deliver (can’t spell the name since I listened to the audio, but I think it’s Gabo). He made me laugh out loud several times - definitely one of the best parts of this book!
However, I didn’t seem to connect with the book as much in the second half. Perhaps it was the father relationship and how the development felt kind of forced. Or perhaps it was because Rosie talks so much about how upsetting it is to have immortality when you have to see your loved ones die, but continues to run head first into friendships and relationships. Even though I loved her positive attitude toward others, I would think that having to experience so much loss would either force one to be lonely or to be distant. Perhaps this was intentional, that in spite of this, she is yolo in life and in love.
Either way, this was a fun read. I listened to the audiobook and the pacing and voicing was good. I do like that it seems to be different for each book in the series so that it truly feels like it would be different perspectives.

I am a little disappointed. I thought I would love this book. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrator though.
Things I liked:
-The world/setting was really cool.
-The side characters - Duckers specifically.
Things I didn't like:
- The constant mention of how the FMC prefers nice undergarments & lingerie. Just felt like a random thing to throw in there.
-The pacing of the book. The last third it starts to pick up but at around 80% I just wanted it end.
I wasn't actually getting involved with the characters. I did feel something for the MMC and his whole journey. And I did empathize with the immortality crisis of the FMC but that's about it.
I hate to say it but I felt bored reading this. The high stakes in the book just weren't translating for me and I couldn't find myself actually caring about what happened.
I did read this as a standalone, not knowing there was two others books in the series. l don't think the other books would have added to this experience though.

I absolutely devoured this audiobook and am hoping Megan Bannen decides to take us back to Tanria/Eternity some day. Until then, this third installment of the series may be my favorite yet. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Rosie centered book after catching glimpses of her in the previous book however she was an absolute delight and so unique. Rosie is an immortal demigod that seems to die a lot (and come back of course) but has grown weary of life after 157 years. When the portals to Tanria begin to malfunction their aloof creator, Adam Lee, steps in to fix them himself. Unfortunately, this leads to our duo getting stuck in the mist and we quickly discover Rosie and Adam have both been keeping secrets......
For much of the book the main foursome is composed of Rosie, Adam, Duckers, and Zeddy which was a riot honestly. There is a lot of tension between the former lovers at first but I was happy to see these two again, Duckers has been so integral to each of the books and he is certainly an endearing character. I absolutely love the setting of Tanria and the return of the dragons, especially those we first met in book 2. It was a wonderful call back for readers of the series.
I was lucky enough to receive an ALC of this book and the audio was fantastic. It was smoothly delivered with such a solid variety of voices for each character that I was never confused about who was speaking. The entire experience was truly wonderful. I can only hope for more in the future.

4.25 Stars. This found family, cozy fantasy/mystery was just adorable. I loved Hart & Mercy and was so happy to be plunged back into this world of Gods, Demigods, and mythical creatures. Rosie is a demigod who also happens to be immortal. It sounds good to have everlasting life - until you have to watch everyone you love die around you. It can be difficult to find friends and love when you know the inevitable will happen. How will she navigate this huge life struggle?
This book handled the topic well, without it feeling too heavy or burdensome. Most of the book was focused on the cozy mystery and found family aspects. It felt like a warm hug and would be perfect for a fall read.
The audio format was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed the narration.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really liked the narrator for this book. Kacie Rogers does an excellent job with the pacing and differentiation of each of the characters. She brings a lot of emotion and drama in her narration. I'm sad this is the end of the series because I would have loved to hear more of Kacie's narration (especially her take on Duckers).
