I picked this up because I cannot say no to an astronaut autobiography, and I'm from the US and knew very very very little about how the Canadian government worked, which is extra embarrassing because when I was growing up my family would road trip to Quebec and Ontario quite a bit.

The first half is early life, military life, and space travel, and honestly what interested me the most. It was really interesting, and while I have no idea what his political actions looked like from the outside, there was examples of dumb kid stuff, and how experiences affected later choices (he started referencing political choices in this section) which did a good job of bringing things together.

The second half I listened to for the educational aspect of how he perceives the Canadian government. It was interesting, and I now have more of an understanding (though I know I really should do some proper research. Canada is a day's drive north where I live.) Honestly I hadn't fully appreciated how much other countries have taken the FAA's judgements for granted, and I think our government agencies deserve to have their judgments questioned. Especially these days.
