I. Love. This. Series. Good news for everyone wanting more Ruinous Love - that's exactly what this provides. It's almost too short, but it's a joyful return to our three pairs, from Sloane's POV. The Annual August Showdown is now a family affair, split up into two teams - the men vs the women. This is essentially a purely comedic revisit, with a spicy treat at the end. It will also serve as a bridge into Weaver's next series - is it too much if that means I'm hopeful there may still be cameos from these six in those books?! If there aren't, at least we'll always have this novella.

Thank you to Amazon Originals and Netgalley for early access to this story in exchange for a review!

Sloane and her family are back in action during their Annual August Showdown. This was a fun little glimpse into the Ruinous Love Trilogy. I loved the team approach to taking on their target and how competitive the women were. It made me laugh, was a little bit gory, and included a touch of spice. Cookies and cream ice cream did make an appearance, but no food was ruined!

Thank you to Amazon Original Stories for the advanced reader copy of Love and Other Killers by Brynne Weaver.

I was wondering what was coming next when Brynne Weaver implied it wasn’t the last we’d see of the Ruinous Love MCs.

The group taking down Allan Munster is the premise for this novella which follows the end of the series. Told from Sloane’s POV, we get to check in with all of the main characters. Overall, I thought the novella had good pacing. The end resolved much quicker than I'd expected but is understandable as a novella. This short story also incorporated many aspects of what drew readers in to this series.

EVERY SINGLE STAR. BARBARA!

This short story is a great revisit to the Ruinous Love Trilogy (aka my favorite rom com series). It was great reading from Sloane's POV because she is the character that brought readers into this fucked up world. I loved the boys vs girls twist to the yearly competition and the dynamics between all the characters. It was an incredibly quick read and I am so happy.

Super fun quick read! Loved the tie backs of all the original characters and their little found family, so cute! I can't wait for the audiobook to reread. I love this author and that we could get a kinda of "Fall Special" from where they are after the last three books.

🌶️ 2/5 Theres some dirty talk and vague references, not super spicy, but it is a novella so thats to be expected.

This was so enjoyable to read after reading the whole Ruinous Love trilogy. getting to spend more time with some character favorites and all six of them interacting with each other felt like a warm hug, even in the midst of murder mayhem. I cannot wait to see what Brynne Weaver does in her next book and I would never say no to more of these characters.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this!

omg how nostalgic!!! i will read everything about these characters and it was so lovely getting to see them again after their books! i will read everything brynne weaver writes and this just confirmed they are some of my favorite dark romance couples 🙂‍↕️

5 ⭐️ for a perfect novella checking in on my favorite couples (but really, checking in on Rowan and Sloane). Butcher and Blackbird is my favorite book of Brynne Weaver’s and seeing my favorite couple back to their antics was fantastic. And they were just as hot in this novella as they were in their own book!!!!! 😛🤭 Some good, clean, murdery fun in this one!!!!

What a great way to close out the ruinous love trilogy! All 3 of our favorite couples from the books are brought back in this fun and thrilling little short story! This is told from Sloanes perspective (FMC from butcher and blackbird) and we get to see her and the girls against the guys in a cutthroat competition they host each summer!

I loved seeing the girls get along with their halter between them and their partners! We even get Barbara (the raccoon from scythe and sparrow) in on the fun! I loved all the little nods to the books through the series (including the nod to ice cream). This book also gave a bit of a nice bridge in between this series and Brynnes upcoming series releasing soon! I wish there could have been a little more insight into the secret female character (I won’t spoil names or anything), but it’s a great way to lead into the next book!

Overall, this was a fun, thrilling read (with just a touch of spice, gore, and more) and a great end to the ruinous trilogy. If you loved the trilogy and are looking for something quick to read between now and the next series, pick this one up! 🩷💙🧡

A novella featuring the characters from the Ruinous Love trilogy, told from the perspective of Sloane as the family goes on their annual August hunt to rid the world of another serial killer.

This was kind of what I love a novella to be- a short and easy read, featuring all of our much loved characters and giving us a look at how they’re all doing. It definitely includes all the mayhem and gore and shock moments we expect Weaver to write about. Plus it introduces a character we briefly saw in Butcher & Blackbird that apparently connects to the authors next book- Tourist Season. Overall, if you read the Ruinous Love trilogy this will be a perfect little story for you.

This novella ties into the Ruinous Love Trilogy, set after those books
As always, check the triggers as needed - but imo if you’ve enjoyed the rest of the series, I don’t see why you wouldn’t this installment

Our favorite family of killers of killers has gather for the Annual August Showdown, giving us the return of the brothers, their ladies, and even Barbara 🦝 (plus a sighting of another past character!)

It’s boys vs girls to take down the baddie, and no matter which trio wins, the world wins because there’s one less evil killer on the loose

The target is Allan Munster, full time chicken farmer and booze bottler, and part time serial deleter
I may now be even less likely to entertain ideas of keeping chickens, but I thoroughly enjoyed this guy get what he had coming

The competition (and cooperation) between the crew was great, and I liked the callbacks to the prior books

At around 50 pages, this is a quick read
A fun way to reconnect some favorite characters while waiting for the author’s next book release

Love & Other Killers
3.5 ⭐️

Annnnnd they’re back! The Ruinous Trilogy cast came together for this novella, including their pet raccoon!

Set at the annual game, Rowan and Sloane are pitted against each other, with their family, to get rid of a dangerous serial killer.

😅 while I knew going in that this was a short novella, it still felt too short! I wanted more! Thanks to @netgalley for this ARC!

So excited to be back in this world with all these characters again! I love the Ruinous Love Trilogy, and it was great to see the crew reunited.

Was this novella necessary? No, but as a fan of the Ruinous Love Trilogy, I ate it up.

This novella is told from Sloane's perspective during their Annual August Showdown, their yearly competition where they race to hunt down a serial killer.

Timeline-wise, this picks up after the epilogues of Scythe & Sparrow. While this could be read as a standalone, I'm not sure you would enjoy it if you haven't already read the trilogy, or at least Butcher & Blackbird. It reads more like a bonus chapter where it's assumed readers know the relationships between characters and the backstory. If you haven't read any of the other books, you'd be missing out on a lot of details.

Thank you for the ARC of Love and Other Killers! This was fun and sexy fast-paced read featuring characters from Brynn Weaver’s other books. The dialogue and banter were funny and I enjoyed the action in this short story. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has read Weaver’s trilogy and loves romance/thriller/horror combos.

Okay, so I didn't realize this was set in Weaver's serial killer series. I should have researched more, before reading this.

I was totally lost and I didn't get all of the family inside jokes, meanings, past, etc...

I'm sure it's a good story for those who are fans of the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Original Series for an e-copy of LOVE AND OTHER KILLERS to review.

I rate LOVE AND OTHER KILLERS three out of five stars.

Well this was just an absolute delight! It is such a treat to be able to visit with the couples of the ruinous love world again! Like always, Brynne Weaver manages to blend comedy and gross stuff that makes me cringe and laugh at the same time. This was a fun novella sure to delight fans!

Loved this! I'm so glad we got another glimpse into their world! The August Showdown has always been my favorite part of Butcher and Blackbird, so I love that this book picked up right where Scythe and Sparrow ended and we got to see all of them together during the showdown. My only complaint is I wish it had been longer. Now its all over again :(

A fun little novella in the Ravenous Love world, it really felt like the series returned to it's roots and it was so fun.

If Brynne writes it, I’m going to read it. She’s that good of a storyteller. I was never into books about serial killers until I gave hers a try. I’m hooked! This title is no exception to an excellent, full-on, crazy ride of a story. It’s quick and funny, and the relationships amongst the family members had me entertained throughout. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
