I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I grew up reading TMNT comics, watching the movies, and playing with the action figures. Many iterations of the brothers have been created since that time and this is one of the few that do the originals any sort of justice. The Turtles are a new generation of hero’s. The comic and the characters contained within do a good job at paying respect to their predecessors.
The illustrations were A+, the storyline was enough to keep me interested but drug a little at times.
If you grew up with the TMNT then this is worth a read!

The sort of comic I remember devouring when I was a teenager. This is an introduction, without as much ninja action as I might prefer. The turtles are back! Well actually different turtles are back! Well not back really, because they are new mutant ninja turtles. But, they are very much like the originals. Four mixed up, batting for each other, and ready to jump right in to protect everyone. This first part, of a much bigger story, introduces the next bunch of mutated back chatting fun, and their nemesis. There’s a large part of verbal telling of how they came to be - if you’ve followed the turtles before you could skip this bit if you are more untreated in the visual experience. Good start, I want more. Thank you to IDW Publishing and NetGalley for the comic ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

DNF at 10%. This one's just too difficult to read on an iPad via the NetGalley app. Lots of double-page spreads in the opening chapter, but no guided view means having to flip back and forth. The low-resolution nature of the file means that some dialogue is blurry. And then there's the damn watermark IDW insists on sticking in the middle of each and every page to obscure art and text. This review copy is too frustrating to try and devote the time to, so I'll just wait for the published edition to hit the shelves to read. Thanks for the ARC, but it's just not working well here.

A great set up to continue the series after the events of the Last Ronin. By giving the turtles powers it differentiates them from the OGs more. Allowing future threats to escalate in scale as well. Criminal ending though, don't know if it was a formatting thing or just the intended cut off.

Thank You NetGalley and IDW Publishing for the ARC!

I wish we had the other books in the series for context. It seems interesting enough to read and really enjoyed reading through it. The art was amazing and the story was engaging. I can't wait for the next volume.

The second volume of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin picks up 10 years after the first volume of Last Ronin. A new generation of ninja turtles is on the rise with the help of Casey Marie. They must fight to make sure there is peace.

A good follow-up to the first volume! I would definitely recommend reading the first volume before this one otherwise you will be very lost. I think there could be a little recap at the beginning (more than the new turtles telling the story) to help anyone who stumbled upon this. It was also hard to read digitally, which might have to do with the oversized format of the physical version.
