Watching Stars is a gorgeously illustrated and thought-provoking read, full of cosmic wonder and poetic ambition, but for all its starry-eyed musings, the tale sometimes slips into the mad ramblings of an old man shouting at the sky. The themes of inner light and generational wisdom are noble, even inspiring at times, but they get tangled in dense metaphors and meandering reflections that blur more than they illuminate. It’s a book that wants to be both a bedtime story and a philosophical treatise, and while it occasionally shines, it often feels like it’s drifting in its own orbit, just out of reach. Three stars for beauty, heart, and ambition, though not always clarity.

I absolutely loved the cover and the illustrations. However the writing/story itself was not what I was expecting at all. The overall tone of the writing was giving an almost biblical tone. I wish it was a more relaxed writing as that would improve the story I believe.

whilst this concept is so interesting to me, it unfortunately read bible-like, which is ironic because I think the point was the opposite - the illustrations are stunning and it's definitely an easy read, but if it had more personable writing, it would've been better

This book, though beautifully written, was slightly confusing. A moralistic love story between stars was a bit unexpected yet entirely heartwarming. However, the writing was undeniably gorgeous. An adventure, but a metaphorical question mark as well.
