This is a story of found family set in ancient Mesopotamia. Parts of it are brutal and other are incredibly sweet. The story follows Ta, Ki, Jakka and others as they seek that what they need/want.

This book should have some content warnings due to the intense nature of these times and the themes of the story.

I loved reading about this time period and hearing of legendary people and places referenced in the story. It was informative as well as a fun adventure. My only complaint is that some of the ideas the main characters grappled with felt too contemporary for the setting. I look forward to reading more in this series when it is published.
