I was very much enjoying this audiobook and the narrators (though truthfully I did enjoy the female narrator's pace more than the male's) when the book abruptly ended. Totally my fault for not reading the fine print because I did NOT realize it was just an excerpt, Can't wait to get my hands on the full version to continue this one.

This is only the sample, but I’m already loving it. Definitely perfect for fans of Babel, Ninth House, and Blood Over Bright Haven.
Kuang does a great job of putting the reader directly in the middle of the story without creating too many questions. So excited for the rest of this

I enjoyed what I was able to listen to in this preview, and I cannot wait to hear the rest! The narrators were wonderful and the book clipped along at a great pace

I jumped for joy when I found this on NetGalley! I immediately requested the audiobook and started listening, it wasn't until the end of the sample that I realized it was only a sample. Note to self: read the fine print! I can't thank NetGalley enough for allowing me the chance to get a sneak peak at R.F. Kuang's newest novel.

I really enjoyed this audiobook sample. I wish I could get the full version to continue tandem reading with the eARC. But the narrator is very good and I quite enjoyed the different voices for the characters. Looking forward to continuing with the eARC for the rest of the book.

Wow this was incredible! 5 stars to Katabasis by R F Kuang! She always delivers! Thanks Net Galley for this early copy!

I was incredibly sad when my book ended at 50 minutes! I cannot wait to continue on with this story -- I have already purchased it for my library and am eagerly waiting for it to come in. I don't think I have ever given R.F. Kuang anything less than a 4-star rating and I have read everything she has written so far. This one remains the same. The narration was fantastic and I can't wait to delve back in.

I have been so so so excited for this to release and the hour long teaser chapter simply wasn't enough!
So far in the short glimpse into this new story, I have been delighted by the two main characters and their motivations for going to Hell and wholeheartedly approve of the narrators for the audiobook.

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from this book, but I am such a huge fan of Yellowface that I will read anything that R.F. writes. I was so disappointed when my 90 minute preview ended! I immediately emailed NetGalley to ask if I could have the rest of the book. I was super impressed at how R.F. is able to make this book seem ridiculous, serious, funny, and a bit terrifying all at once! Another thing I am expecting is that this book is going to be enjoyed by the 'fancy people' that read lit fit and also those of us who are interesting in grabbing the latest NYT Bestseller. I anticipate this book is going to be on a lot of 'best of 2025' book lists this year!

Loved the narrators and beginning of the story. I'm definitely intrigued and excited to listen to more. My Libby hold can't come in soon enough!

I was really enjoying this audio-ARC when it suddenly ended. Unfortunately I didn't read the fine print and wasn't expecting just the first few chapters. I already placed a hold on Libby, but am sad to have to wait several months to resume the story.

Loved it! I wish the ALC was a full ALC and not just the first couple chapters! But of what I heard, the narrators were great and it was an exciting start to the novel.

This started off soooo good and I was loving the setup, the world and the narrator only to realize it's only an audio SAMPLE and not the full book. Now I'm just left wanting more!!!! Please NetGalley gods be kind to me.....

I was so excited when I saw Katabasis was available that I didn't even realize it was only the preview until I finished it! UGH! The heartbreak!
Anyways, I am already hooked - no surprise there at all - and I am super excited for the title to be release. I am very much looking forward to it.

HOW IS THIS MY FIRST R.F. KUANG!? This was freakin' awesome! Kuang weaved in some pretty complex ideas but made them very palatable. Love the idea of the descent into hell, and a little romance to top that right off. 5 stars, no notes, ordering a copy!
Narration was a delight-completely engrossing. Well done!

The preview was too short! I was hooked immediately and can't wait for the book to come out. I don't read a ton of fantasy, but the combination of academia, magic, contemporary setting, and a female main character appealed to me. The narrators are great and I've already pre-ordered the audiobook. Luckily, it's weeks not months away.

It's a sample but yes 100% this book is going to be fire. Now I just have to get my hands on an arc because I want to know what happens next!

This sample has me excited to listen to the rest of the audio! The immediate action and revealing of the magic system have me hooked, and I love Morag Sims's pacing and voice for Alice. I found Will Watt's narration to be too slow (I bumped his chapter up to 1.25x to remain engaged). I cannot wait to hear more!

So sneaky I didn’t realize this was just an excerpt but it was excellent!! This makes me even more excited for this audiobook specifically! The production is chef’s kiss!

I really enjoyed this audiobook and narrator excerpt. It was my fault for not reading the fine print and I was so confused when it cut off mid storyline while I was driving and I couldn’t get it to play further. Can’t wait for the full version to come out!
