I loved getting this glimpse into Katabasis. It sounds very promising and like it is going to be an insanely well-researched book.

Although I love Babel and Yellowface, this one felt too highbrow and above me. I couldn’t get into the story because I felt like I was constantly missing references that were being made. Disappointed because I was looking forward to this release all year.

So excited for the full audiobook experience! Such a great sample. I love that there are dual narrators. Simply cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of what this story has in store for everyone.

Didn't realize until late that this was a mere sample but I liked what I heard. I appreciate every time publishers decide to do a duet because it certainly elevates a book. The voices of the two narrators suited the two main leads. The small sample size definitely makes you want to listen to more.

I wish I would’ve known this was just a sample, but that being said it drew me in right from the beginning. The narrator sounded perfect for the story and I can’t wait to listen to the whole book. Thank you Netgalley for the sampling.

I NEED the full audiobook ASAP. This story pulled me in and was not letting me go... until I reached the end of the audio sample. I did not realize this was a sample, and I was so disappointed. My only complaint is that I wish this was more clearly labeled as an excerpt.,,and that I want the rest of the story!

I NEED more! I was completely sucked into this story, as expected from RF Kuang. Even though this sample was only about an hour of the audiobook, I am already invested in the characters. Kuang seems to have done it again with this dark academic fantasy about students going to hell to save their advisor. I can't wait to read/listen to more.

Shame on me! So dazzled was I to see a new title available from a beloved author that I didn’t realize it was a mere excerpt. But what an excerpt it is. Counting the days until I can continue this already hypnotic tale…

Really excited for this one! I didn’t read the fine print and realized this was just a sample partway through listening, but I still enjoyed it and looking forward to the full version!

Me: *listens to audiobook intently* oh man oh man this is getting really good!

Audiobook: *stops*

Me: what the...(restarts phone. Uninstalls app, reinstalls app, updates app...goes to website and sees) oh, wait this was just a sample of the audiobook. And man, what a sample! I nearly screamed "nooo!" when the audiobook cut off. I was absolutely desperate for more! I immediately dove into the eARC of the book where the audio sampler left off. R.F. Kuang knows how to hook you into a story - even for a sample, I can tell Katabasis is going to be my new obsession. Can't wait to devour the whole thing! Not sense Babel have I been so intent to start a book and not stop until it's done.

I was so disappointed this was just a sampler - I’m so excited for the full book! R.F Kuang jumps right into the action and pulls the reader in with her. I can already tell how complex the main character is, and I can’t wait to read her adventure into Hell.

Loved loved LOVED getting to listen to this small preview of the full book! I have a copy of the e-ARC as well, so I'm really looking forward to continuing with the story that way. The narrators are excellent and I plan on listening to the finished version of the audiobook once it releases this fall. Kuang can do no wrong!

Have I already read the e-Arc of this book? Yes! Will I still be listening to this audiobook when it comes out? Absolutely! This might be my favorite Kuang to date and the narrators are incredible!
