Set in the Caribbean and Florida, sisters Denise and Helen finally spend time together and attempt to work out some of their issues. Denise, older by ten years, has always been the responsible sister and works as a yacht captain for the wealthy family who purchased their childhood home. Helen returns to Florida after being fired from her latest position working on yachts in the Pacific.

Denise hires her sister, over her own misgivings. Denise has been trying to figure out a way to prevent her employers from building a giant lagoon and condominium complex that she feels will be detrimental to the environment. Mrs. Falcon is aware that she has made some rather unwise decisions on the building plans, though she's positive that the county officials who accepted her bribes wouldn't have okayed the work if it REALLY was detrimental to the environment. She was wrong. And when the building collapsed and one woman died, she maneuvers to transfer family assets, including the yacht, into the hands of her son's fiancée, Poppy. A girl raised "on the wrong side of the tracks," Poppy is thrilled to become the owner of a yacht, even though wedding plans don't seem to be moving forward at all. When Poppy falls for another Falcon employee, she takes some actions that upset Mrs. Falcon's plans.

This amusing story includes a bit of romance, some stormy weather, mystery and a lot of 'sneaking around'. A good beach read, this one will pleasantly help while away time in the sun.

Fun story. Great audiobook.
Salty gives Carl Hiassen vibes but with female eco-avengers targeting the shady real estate developers, who are destroying the ecology of their coastal hometown..

The cast is made of a bunch of eccentric characters, including estranged sisters, boat captain Denise and her “walking HR violation” sister Helen; the greedy, ecologically obtuse Falcon family; gullible but lovely Poppy, who’s engaged to the youngest Falcon; an uptight, narcissistic yacht concierge named Geoff, and a host of retirees who pop in and out of the story.

If you’re in need of a quick, fun, beach read, this one is perfect and terrific on audio!

Thank you to NetGalley and to HarperAudio for advanced access to the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Salty is, well, not so salty in terms of language but definitely dealing with some of the underworld of the poorest of the rich. Though technically not a new style, there’s seems to be a recent trend with books about some sort of crime or, usually, crime and a revenge plot where the story rotates between being told by set of characters from different sides of the story. There’s always a main character, but the limited group of narrators can be anyone.

This is a story about two sisters who want to bring justice upon the family who has become rich by cutting corners and fixing things in their favor. I don’t really understand the issue with the acquiring of the land where the sisters used to live in a single family home that is now being constructed into a lagoon with a high-rise condo building. It seems like another woman lived in that house after them before the land was acquired, so the Falcon family did not take it from them and it was unclear that they acquired it underhandedly.

The majority of the story takes place on or is about the time spent on a yacht run by a rent a crew kind of concierge service For those who can afford a lot but maybe not the best.

I wasn’t sure what the book was about and with so many books coming out now, my attention span is shorter than normal. It was taking me a while to get pulled in and so I switched to the audiobook that is usually able to tug me along until I get my sea legs, so to speak.

The narration is good and it’s an interesting array of narrations from the sisters to the ditzy fiancé and the British PR guru. Well done and truly easier to follow along once I switched to audio.

I tried so hard to keep going, but the back and forth is mind numbing. I am 24% in, and they still have not gotten to the meat of the story. I was tempted to skip several chapters ahead and see if anything changed, so I went to Goodreads and see from others that it does not get better. Thank you for the opportunity to read this, but it is my first NetGalley DNF. I don't have enough free time in my life to spend it forcing myself to read a book that I do not enjoy.

I can see this being a popular beach read! It follows two 'rival' sisters who become partners against a rich family developing their home. Its got romance, suspense, intrigue!

Liked the mix of quirky and interesting characters, even though some of them were beyond annoying.

Beautiful setting and good pace! Great summertime turn your brain off kinda read!

Hear me out: Kate Myers is the new Carl Hiassen.

I loved this book even more than I loved Myers’ previous novel Excavations (which was a lot), and it really felt like a Hiassenesque plot while still being its own original thing.

Myers is so good at using humor to drive plot without ever getting obnoxious or bogged down in meaningless banter, and I also loved the balance she struck between sharp wit and sweet intent.

There’s a madcap aspect to this, but it never goes too far over the top, and the characters all seem to know just how far to take their absurdity without descending into pure farce.

I loved that this was a mystery and a comedy and a family saga all rolled into one with underlying themes of environmental concern and, at the less serious end, yacht culture.

I’ll say the same thing about this as I did about Excavations as to who I recommend this to: In short, everybody. But especially those who love a light, charming read that is also exceptionally sharp and observant.

This is a true beach read. The setting of high end yachts in the Caribbean, the thrill of a mystery, the cast of characters, perfect for a beach weekend or summer vacation read. Great for fans of Below Deck!

Yacht Captain Denise and her younger sister have finally reunited, and now they are plotting a takedown. The results are chaos, wreckage, and possibly a dead body too. This story has charter yachts, family drama, plotting, payback, and coverups! It’s all a bit wild and ridiculous, with some very quirky characters, but it makes for a delightfully fun and breezy beach read.

Thank you @harperaudio for the gifted audiobook via #NetGalley. Narrated by Khristine Hvam, whose engaging narration brings the characters and their adventures to life.

This book had a lot going on. It was about sisters, rich people, a murder, yachting, romance, and more. I prefered Denise over Helen. I felt like the book was a little bit scattered at points and I could not follow. Lots of characters and there were some fun moments. If you like drama and water this book is for you.

This was supposed to be a funny summer beach read that has two sisters working together on a yacht business but honestly I only finished because I had the audio to listen to. For the most part I found myself zoning out and just was not invested in it at all. Great cover though. Now on to the next. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This novel is a breezy, whip-smart novel that perfectly blends humor, heart, and a sharp eye for modern relationships. With snappy dialogue, vibrant characters, and an irresistible beachside setting, Myers delivers a deliciously entertaining read that’s as fun as it is insightful. A perfect vacation companion or weekend binge!

I received an advance copy of the audio book for review. This story combined mystery and romance, but I think my favorite part of the story was the relationship between the two sisters. Together they learn more about themselves, grow closer and ultimately discover how to love each other as they were meant to. It explores themselves age difference and the impacts that had when they were younger, but as they got older, how that gap was able to close. If you’re looking for a good story, maybe a mystery to try to unravel, but also want something that will take you a little deeper into familial relationships - this is for you.
