I think this is a new author for me although I can’t believe that I haven’t read any of the previous books. A lovely cosy story told from multiple perspectives and set over a single day, I particularly loved the sense of community. Many dilemmas are faced by the characters and are realistic concerns of ordinary people. I enjoyed and recommend it. I’m off the research the back catalogue!

I found this to be a really lovely read, as it puts into focus the big decisions that people have to make through life, and whether it's best for you or best for others. It's all well and good having big dreams and plans for life, but in reality when decisions need to be made then there's lots of other factors to be taken into account!
It's all set on one day and involves a number of different POV's so you get a little glimpse into each persons' life and dilemmas that they face. They're all at different stages at life so there's so much going on for them to take in - be it a big move abroad, a change of career, a new stage in life - and these are things that we all face so it was good to see these characters facing up to different decisions and the shall i, shan't i debates we all have with ourselves!
I really liked all the characters as you get a chance to get into their heads as the story progresses and the setting was really relatable too. You get to see the best and worst of people, as in real life!, and it was one of those books that I just kept reading as I wanted to see how the choices would pan out - it's a book that was very difficult to put down once you pick it up, as I often find with this author!! highly recommended!

I never tire from reading about the characters who live or are connected to Glasgow and the village of Weirbridge. Although these books can be read as a standalone it is lovely to return to some major characters from previous books who now play a peripheral role.in follow up books.
The premise of ‘One Day’ in the characters lives is always entertaining and this time the main characters who have their own alternating chapters are Lachlan, Jessie, Georgie and Alyssa.
Yet again Shari Low invites us into their lives and we become invested in their stories of loss, hope, dissapointment, luck and thoughts for tomorrow.
A Shari Low book includes the reader in a warm circle of friends and family; and she does it so very well.

Set in a beautiful snowy village! Such a lovely heartwarming story. I really enjoyed this story and the characters, a great ending also.

Georgie Dern has a chance to swap her empty nest for a job of a lifetime in Los Angeles. Can she chase her dream if it means letting down the woman who has given her the world?
Jessie McLean should be counting down the hours until she jets off to spend her retirement years in the sun. But when a devastating betrayal resurfaces, she has to choose between a fresh start and staying behind to settle old scores.
Alyssa Canavan has spent years building the business she adores. Now a legal letter has threatened her home and livelihood, but how does she fight a family that doesn't give a dam?
Lachlan Morden is forced to return to Scotland to face the people who almost destroyed him. Will coming home reopen old wounds, or will a memory from the past lead him to the perfect revenge.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #ShariLow for my ARC of #OneSnowyDay in exchange for an honest review.

It is always a huge delight to start a novel by Shari Low, a hug in the pages and a return to characters that feel like part of your family.
In this novel we meet lots of familiar friends and the focus is on the stories of Jessie, Georgie, Lachlan and Alyssa.
Jessie is finally looking to retire but reticent to take the next steps, however a huge party Alyssa is holding at her cafe is just what is needed. The blow that the cafe is being sold has just landed in Alyssa’s hand when a stranger arrives, who she discovers is the new part owner of the building and Lachlan gets very short shrift. Finally Georgie is taking over at the salon, however a dream job in Hollywood has arrived in her inbox, one which she has no choice but to decline.
So much to love about this book and so many characters to discover or rediscover and get involved with. They are all written with love and affection and this shines out from this book and takes the reader on a journey with them, one that is over too soon when it finishes. Absolutely loved it and will be recommending this 💯.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

❄️Change is in the wintry air for this cast of characters!❄️
I believe I'm an early outlier for this one because if I had to describe my feeling as I read this in a single word it would be indifference. That could be due to my mood or the novel itself but to be quite honest I couldn't tell which it was.
The story takes place in a 24-hour period with each chapter representing a 2-hour block of time. There are perspectives galore and the back and forth felt jolting. I can read many PoV and not be bothered as long as it feels like a natural progression. Something about this just didn't mesh with me. The theme felt like it was change. A dream job, an inheritance with strings, a sunny retirement, and a landlord drama affecting the future of a beloved local business all come into play. The separate stories were fine, the connections felt weak more like an afterthought in some cases. The actual writing was smooth and this had a few moments I enjoyed but overall, it just felt rather blah to me.
❄️❄️Where will these characters find themselves standing after the snow melts?❄️❄️
I had a hard time staying engaged with the plot every time the perspective changed for whatever reason, but I do think some readers will love this. It is by no means a bad book. This could be a case of it being me.
I do encourage you to check out some of the glowing reviews this novel has if you're interested.
Thank you to Boldwood Books for providing an ARC via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A stand alone story line but with recurring characters in Weirbridge. The story follows 4 main characters and for the most part pans out over one day. Truths have to be told about misadventures across the years and characters have to realign their homes and dreams. Perhaps more of a winter tale than a Christmas book. Enjoyable

Brilliant book. Very much sliding doors ish. I loved the female friendships, Georgie should be jetting to the USA but she is in her Mum Jessies hair salon doing Jessie and her friends hair in anticipation of her joint birthday, retirement and leaving party.
Will the families plan come to fruition or will the past come back to bite them.
Finding out is a great read. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange.

As it’s almost Christmas, it felt natural to return to Weirbridge and catch up with some of the beloved characters that we have met, along with some new ones. In the style that is synonymous with Shari’s writing, each chapter covers a couple of hours within the storyline, and the characters wait patiently for the next chapter, which will then allow them to continue with their story.
Four characters lead the charge in this book, taking turns for their stories to be told—Jessie McLean, Jessie’s Daughter, Georgie, Alyssa Canavan and Lachlan Morden. It’s almost impossible to rest between chapters as the story builds in such a way that you can’t help but keep turning the pages. In a nutshell, Jessie and her husband are about to retire to Tenerife, leaving Jessie’s salon in the capable hands of their daughter, Georgie. Georgie is grappling with the shame of having taken up with her ex out of convenience. Alyssa has received a letter giving her two months’ notice on her café lease. Lachlan has returned to the area for a single day and cannot wait to get back to London and away from the memories that haunt him of his life before his mother died.
The stage is set for one of the loveliest stories that I have recently read. The relationships between the characters were beautifully designed, and the architectural construction was a treat to observe as each character and their story were woven into the fabric of the book.
We have previously met Jessie, Georgie and Alyssa, but the introduction of Lachlan revealed another layer of this story that I couldn’t have imagined. The dynamic was perfect, and how Shari introduced the additional characters boasted all the skills of a plate spinner at the circus. The storytelling seemed effortless, but I can imagine that it was incredibly involved, with characters demanding to be mentioned.
I loved everything about this book, from the tight rein the author held on her characters to the unfolding stories that emerged. The whole book felt atmospheric, and I adored every page.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Another fabulous book by Shari Low.
After retiring from the salon Jessie and her husband Stan are leaving their friends and family and moving abroad. Jessie’s daughter will be taking care of the salon that Jessie has loved to for years.
But, before all that happens, they and the residents of the village go through 24 hours, with snow set to fall they each experience ups and downs.
I loved everything that Shari wrote to cover everything that happened in those 24 hours, it was beautifully written.
The characters have appeared in previous books and it was lovely to catch up with them.
I highly recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC for my honest review. I really enjoyed this story the importance of friendships and special relationships. I liked the characters in this book which made me feel warm and like I was right there on the journey with them. It was a quick read and it pulled me in from the very first chapter and when it ended, it left me wanting more. I love books with emotion, love and special friendships. This book has it all and more.

Thank you @boldwoodbooks @sharilowbooks the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
My thoughts:
Small Scottish village
One snowy day
Four lives
One Snowy Day gives us romance, secrets, second chances, loss and friendship.
The characters are endearing and funny.
If you are in the mood for a feel good story, One Snowy Day should be a perfect read for you.

Loved it!😍
Another 24 hour timeline from Shari Low that captivated me beginning to end. Her tried and true format, recounting the events in two-hour segments for a limited cast of principal characters whose lives intersect in greater Glasgow, made things flow quickly. This was a one day read for me and I loved all four main characters, three women and a man. All start out with major problems and no idea how they will solve them. Family and community are so integral to their stories and the end wrapped with some surprises for me but with a totally satisfying, cozy feel. I also liked that some characters from earlier stories, like Moira, Ollie and Val, are included. These characters are real, working class people living ordinary lives who just happen to have the same Very Bad Start on a snowy December 1st.
Excellent storytelling with a rollercoaster ride from despair to bliss, romance, humor and community togetherness. The author never misses IMO.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Review shared on 7/25/25 on Waterstones and Goodreads, and with Barnes & Noble and BAM. To be shared with kobo and on Google Play upon publication.

I usually love Shari Low’s one-day novels. There’s something about the way she captures a whirlwind of emotions and connections over 24 hours that always leaves me feeling like I’ve just spent the day with people I genuinely care about. I’ve read them all, and more often than not, I finish the last page with a full heart and a quiet hope that the characters will reappear in another book down the line.
But One Snowy Day didn’t quite do it for me. I’m not sure if it was my mood, the timing, or just the story itself, but something felt a little off.
We follow four characters across the course of a single snowy day, told in neat two-hour segments — a format Shari Low normally does so well. But this time, I struggled to feel truly connected to any of them. The two separate storylines — Alyssa and Lachlan in one, Jessie and Georgie in the other — didn’t feel naturally linked. It was only the fact that the party took place in Alyssa’s café that brought them into the same orbit, and even then, it didn’t quite feel enough. When the threads finally came together near the end, it felt a bit forced, like the link was added just to meet the format rather than arising organically from the characters’ journeys.
That’s probably what let the book down for me the most. Normally, the beauty of these stories lies in how the characters’ lives overlap in unexpected and meaningful ways, but here it just didn’t gel. I didn’t dislike either storyline — they were fine in their own right — but they didn’t complement each other in the way I’d hoped. The emotional pay-off that usually hits so well just didn’t land this time.
That said, it’s still an easy, cosy read. Shari Low’s writing is as warm and accessible as ever, and there are moments of insight and heart that shine through. It just didn’t have the same spark as some of her previous one-day books, and I didn’t walk away feeling like I’d made a new group of friends.
Not a bad read by any means — and definitely not enough to put me off picking up the next one — but this one wasn’t a favourite. Still, I’ll always have a soft spot for Low’s storytelling, and I’m hopeful the next book will bring back that magic.

A lovely tale, set across one day, from the point of view of different characters.
One Snowy Day is more of a winter’s day tale, rather than overly Christmasy.
We meet Alyssa, Jessie, Georgie and Lachlan, all with their own tales to tell and baggage to carry!!
As ever the author pulls everything together so well, the scenes are well set and you will be able to see it all in your minds eye. The characters stories are weaved together well and will throw up a few surprises as you read! Considering the whole story is set over one day, you learn so much about everyone, while keeping the story fresh and moving forward.
Overall a lovely wintery story, one that could definitely be left open for a sequel, getting to know the characters even better and see how their lives and relationships move forward.

i dont know how Shari does it. but each and every time i smile even before ive started reading one of her books. im anticipating brilliance and those anticipations are met. and then some. i love her work so much. i literally cannot tell you how excited i was when i saw her cover come next on my tbr pile. i was like a jiggly toddler. you dont even need a review with Shari except for every single comment to say read this you'll love it. and love it you will!
this book weaves together a few characters. they each have their own story to tell and own baggage. but they all fit together in one seamless story that keeps you captured from beginning to end.
Jessie is ready for her retirement in the sun. she moving there with her husband. but is this really what she wants?
Georgie her daughter meanwhile has a dilemma of her own. her mum has left her the charge of the salon. but shes just been offered a job over the seas.
Alyssa has some horrid news when she hears she is facing eviction from a business she has built and grown with love and to love.
then there is Lachlan who has been trying his best to not be anywhere near the town but is forced to return for the reading of his father's will. but little does he know this will leave him with more difficult choices to make. does he do the write thing, and by whom will that be for?
i love how this story unfolds over that 'one snowy day' you get that feeling of that untouched snow, those first footprints, that newness and stillness that brings you in even more to the book and the stories within.
family friendships and secrets come up through this book. stories unfold and feelings are had by us readers that lift you up and hug you with every page you turn.
i want to be enveloped into the stories and communities that Shari writes and i feel Privileged to be a reader of the world she creates for us. shes one beautiful talent and i cant believe we get to share her gifts.
i want to feed SHari's books through my veins. love them. love this one too.

As a big Shari Low fan, I was really excited to dive into this new book — and it didn’t disappoint! Despite the festive title, it’s not overly Christmassy, which I actually liked, as it makes for a great read any time of year. It was lovely to see some familiar characters return, but it also works perfectly well as a standalone story. I absolutely loved it!

As expected, I loved this novel by Shari Low. Everything she writes is an absolute delight.
I was hooked from the start, the pacing is perfect and the characters are brought to life so well.
Must read

I enjoyed One Snowy Day by Shari Low - it takes place over one day and focusses on the point of view of 4 of the main characters. A really well done and enjoyable plot.
