In this emotional and heartwarming novel from Shari Low, readers follow the residents of Weirbridge as they deal with new changes in the village and in their lives. Georgie Dern has the chance to relocate to Los Angeles for a glamorous job, but it means letting her mother and biggest supporter down, while Jessie McLean is ready to retire to a sunny destination when a betrayal from her past resurfaces and makes her choose between a fresh start and settling old scores. Alyssa Canavan has loved building her business, but a legal letter is forcing her to leave in less than two months, and the owners of the building couldn’t care less, and Lachlan Morden must return to Scotland and face the people who hurt him, risking the reopening of old wounds or offering the chance of revenge. As these lives change over a single day, readers are pulled into a fascinating little village and complicated situations that will immerse them in this emotional and detailed story. The characters are brilliantly written, and the alternating perspectives do not overwhelm the story and offer readers the chance to get to know all of the characters in this emotional and moving new release.

Enjoyed this from page 1.
Previous characters are included in the book but I don't think you need to read the previous books.
Four characters narrate this book regarding the one day in particular in Weirbridge which kept me page turning. A great feeling of community, everyone looks out for each other and is a caring as you could ask for.
It is a great wintry read and not overly Christmas as such. A wonder comforting book for sure.

Another fabulous read from one of my all time favourite authors. In this latest book the author like they have in many of their previous books tells the story in the unique way of allowing the reader to be treated to a snapshot in time by having the privilege of being able to spend 24 hours in the characters lives. This instalment introduces us to a whole host of new characters as well as reconnecting us with some older ones along the way.

Once I had started reading I couldn’t put it down another brilliant read packed full of family friendships decisions and changes ahead.

Look forward to what comes next from this author.

I first picked up one of Shari’s books a few months ago and absolutely loved it. I now can’t get enough of her. They are absolutely wonderful and flow easily with all the different characters and storylines tying in perfectly. I loved every bit and can’t recommend her books enough.

Oh I'd read a walking guide if it was written by Shari Low! Everything is just so well phrased that the characters feel like you know them, they're your friends. This one was no different! As long as Shari keeps writing this series I'll keep reading them!

As always, Shari Low has written a perfect book. It was the perfect timing because ironically while this was set in Winter time in Glasgow, I was relaxing under the hot summer sun in Lanzarote. However, hailing from just outside Glasgow it did not take me long to envisage the cold, snowy conditions in which the book is set!

This time around we meet:

Jessie who is hanging up her scissors in her hairdressing salon and getting ready to move to Tenerife with her husband Stan but is this really what she wants. The day/night in which this story unfolds is the day/night of Jessie’s 65th birthday and her leaving do.

Georgie, Jessie and Stan’s daughter who has recently become divorced from her husband (Flynn) but still has the odd dalliance with him now that their daughter Kayleigh has moved up to Edinburgh to study Law at University. Georgie is also a hairdresser and taking over her mum’s salon but just like with Jessie is this really what Georgie wants or can she grab the opportunity to chase her dreams.

Alyssa who runs the local cafe where everyone meets. Her mum is a nightmare and rarely there for her. Jessie’s leaving do is in the cafe and Alyssa is doing all the catering. However, that morning she gets the biggest shock when she receives a lawyers letter.

Lachlan for whom the last place in the world he wants to be is back in Scotland but his father has just passed away and he needs to attend the reading of the will. He wants nothing more than to get it over and done with so he can get away from the place.

Then there are some other characters: Alyssa’s sister (Ginny) and Grandad (Hugo); Georgie’s brother (Grant) and some old favourites: Val, Cathy, Moira and Ollie.

As I have said at the beginning, this truly is a perfect book and whenever I read a Shari Low book I am not just reading it, I am living it …. I honestly feel like I am there and part of the gang. And as is always the case, I went through all the emotions reading this book … laughing one minute and bawling like a baby the next.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Take four characters give them a chapter at a time covering two hours before circling back round over the course of 24 hours and see how things pan out.

Georgie, Jessie, Alyssia and Lachlan take turns to narrate this rather eventful day where lives change dramatically and the snow puts pay to plans. These four narrators of mine chattered away intertwining their stories with each other

From start to finish, the village of Weirbridge was subject (mainly behind closed doors) to revelations which kept me clicking my kindle. This bewitching village is just that – I wish all villages were like that! There is such a feeling of community and a sociable one at that. Everyone knows everyone and in the main look out for each other!

One Snowy Day is a gorgeous read. I loved the characters I met on this wintery day. Yes I said wintery – it’s not overly Christmassy. Most of the story could have panned out in any season forces of nature had to intervene slightly for that small part 🤐🤐 I loved the nods Low made to her previous novels but these ere nods, One Snowy Day is a totally stand alone kind of read. A wonderful hug in a book.

I started following the author and what should loosely be called a series after the reprint of her first book. The reprint was on the occasion of an actually twenty years later scenario, published the same way! It was too interesting a combination to ignore.

Since then I might have missed one or two but know a lot about the disjointed family affairs that all came to play in this one. Each time the author focuses on one family and the immediately related, but they all are connected to one small town in Scotland in some way or form.

In this book, true to form, as mentioned in the title, the entire book encompasses 24 hours while giving us a satisfying epilogue. Jessie the hairdresser is retiring and this has her going crazy. Her daughter who is to take over seems to have own issues to address. Finally we have the cafe shop owner and the man who might help her.

I think I liked how the author flipped a few endings in an unexpected manner. In genres like this readers do look for a comfortable out, one that should make sense at the same time. The last few hours of the day brought some interesting surprises, only one of which I guessed.

I would highly recommend the author and this whole ‘series’ to fans of the genre. Although they work as standalones, they truly make better sense if you’ve encountered the people in their own personal space.

I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience of this and several other books by the author.

I think I’ve said before but Shari Low is one of my favourite authors and I seem to love everything she does, this book included! I love the way she sets her books out. I have listened to audiobooks and read ebooks too and they are just brilliant.
One snowy day is set like all her others with the breakdown of 24 hours and what happens to the characters during that time and how they are linked. Her books are always leaving you wanting more! This book is set around Jessie and her family, the family of the café owner across the street and also the building owners family. How in 24 hours their lives entwine and how much life can change. As always it was hard to put down. Always recommend Shari Low books to friends!

As with many of Shari Low's other books, this one was a great big hug of a story with loads of warmth and a feeling of real emotions throughout the main characters day.
It was great to see some of the characters from her previous books appear in their lives and although that makes me familiar with some characters, this is very easily a stand alone book as you don't really need to know their pasts, their reasons for being in this story are fully explained.
We mostly have 4 narrators throughout this day, each with their own concerns to deal with and much will they/won't they going on between the choices that each must make for themselves and others around them also.
I found this to be very easy to read and on finishing it, just very keen to discover when the next Shari Low book will be coming and how long I have to wait for that!

Shari Low's One Snowy Day is an engaging and poignant story that captures the essence of new beginnings and second chances perfectly. Against the snowy landscape of Weirbridge, the narrative skillfully interweaves the fortunes of four very different people, each at crossroads in their lives.

The writer skillfully weaves together multiple narratives, acquainting us with Georgie, a woman who is caught in a conflict between her aspirations and her family; Jessie, a retiree battling the anguish of a traumatic betrayal; Alyssa, a businesswoman fighting to save her business; and Lachlan, who has to face a history that nearly shattered him. The winter setting is not merely scenery; it's a metaphor for the trials and loneliness each character endures.

The author's prose is a joy rich in wit, warmth, and heartfelt emotion. She's a genius at crafting characters that you'll be cheering for from the opening page. One Snowy Day is a winter romance but also so much more: a testament to courage, a celebration of friendship, and the tough decisions that define our lives. Readers of Marian Keyes and Beth Moran will adore this bittersweet and addictive page-turner.

Shari Low books have some common themes - they are set, mostly, in Glasgow, they often focus on one particular day, and they have characters that cross between books, although the stories are standalone. There are usually different timelines, and the chapters are often from different characters' points of view. All these elements are in the latest book, and Shari has done a fabulous job as usual of using them to create a rich story. All the characters were well rounded, suitably flawed and interesting. I love the way the multiple characters and their story threads weave together throughout, and even if you think you might know what's going to happen, there are always some surprises along the way. Shari is great at creating a strong sense of place with her descriptive writing. One Snowy Day is full of warmth, humour, family, and friendship with a whole host of emotional obstacles. It's uplifting and makes a really good comfort read, equally suitable for the beach or the fireside. Thanks so much to the author, Boldwood Books, and Rachel from Rachel's Random Resources for my gifted e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

One Snowy Day is precisely the kind of uplifting, character-driven novel I reach for when I'm craving comfort, warmth, and human connection. A big thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing me with a complimentary copy for review consideration.

A quick summary

One Snowy Day is set in the atmospheric village of Weirbridge. The story unfolds over a single snowy day in the lives of four compelling characters, each at a crossroad in their lives.

What I loved

Shari Low’s trademark warmth shines through this story.

The setting is charming, creating a close knit community feeling.

The characters are relatable, each with a story arc that is easy to connect with.

The time chunk structure keeps the pace engaging.

What didn't quite work

Juggling four storylines in one day means some arcs feel a little rushed. The ending in particular felt a little hurried.

The plot treads familiar ground and can be a little predictable at times.

But overall this novel delivers exactly what you’d expect: a comforting, feel good read with emotional resonance and heart at its core. This would make a delightful winter’s read, perfect for curling up with on a snowy evening, or whenever you need a charming escape.

As ever, Shari Low delivers a masterclass in plotting and story telling. The lives of the four characters are threaded through the story, each event leading to more information about them and revealing the events which are driving them to act as they do. Some characters are familiar to readers of her previous novels and others drop in to the story to underline the entire world Shari seems to be creating. Jessie's anguish at leaving her home and, family and work is shown to have deep roots in her past. Her loyalty to her husband has driven her on to accept some doubts and uncertainties, but she is no longer sure that that is enough.

Jessie's daughter, Georgie is driven by the same depth of family loyalty and is faced with the opposite conundrum to her mother. She longs to travel away to pursue her own work dreams but she feels a deep responsibility to her mother. Alyssha and Lachlan find their lives intertwined in a shocking way. As Alyssha's determination to find a solution to her problem causes Lachlan to think again about cutting and running, their lives take on a surprising twist.

I love how Shari's novels take you into some complicated situations and shows you how the characters come to terms with them. There is a warmth and a humour to the writing.

In short: highly recommended.

I have read Shari’s books before. I found this one a little slow at first. It follows 24 hours in the lives of 4 main Characters who have been affected by a huge snowfall. I soon became engrossed and couldn’t wait to see how it ended.

Shari Low has done it again! One Snowy Day is an absolutely captivating story filled with real-life drama, heartfelt moments, and beautifully tangled emotions. The way it’s told is so compelling that I almost read it in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down.

From the very first page, you can feel the tension building, knowing big moments are coming, and it makes you desperate to see how everything will unfold. I absolutely loved it and can’t recommend it enough!

While not my typical genre, I enjoyed the flamboyant quirkiness of the story. Interesting and entertaining characters kept my attention throughout. Thanks #NetGalley

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for the chance to read this book . It is set in a 24hour period and follows Jessie but during the story there is lots of other characters that join the book .
The main story is about Jessie moving and retiring abroad . I like how this is set with people mature in age. I still laughed out loud in places . Worth a read .

Shari Low’s books are always such a delight to read and I absolutely loved One Snowy Day.

These books by the author where the story takes place over the course of 24 hours are my favourite. Told from the POV’s of four characters Alyssa, Jessie, Georgie and Lachlan.

This day is set to change each of their lives in some way. I adored this book, with new characters and plenty of regular ones too, if you are familiar with Shari’s books. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t this book is a standalone.

This is such a perfect book to cosy up with. I found I couldn’t put it down.

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources for having me on the tour and to the publisher for my gifted ebook.
