I usually love Shari Low’s one-day novels. There’s something about the way she captures a whirlwind of emotions and connections over 24 hours that always leaves me feeling like I’ve just spent the day with people I genuinely care about. I’ve read them all, and more often than not, I finish the last page with a full heart and a quiet hope that the characters will reappear in another book down the line.
But One Snowy Day didn’t quite do it for me. I’m not sure if it was my mood, the timing, or just the story itself, but something felt a little off.
We follow four characters across the course of a single snowy day, told in neat two-hour segments — a format Shari Low normally does so well. But this time, I struggled to feel truly connected to any of them. The two separate storylines — Alyssa and Lachlan in one, Jessie and Georgie in the other — didn’t feel naturally linked. It was only the fact that the party took place in Alyssa’s café that brought them into the same orbit, and even then, it didn’t quite feel enough. When the threads finally came together near the end, it felt a bit forced, like the link was added just to meet the format rather than arising organically from the characters’ journeys.
That’s probably what let the book down for me the most. Normally, the beauty of these stories lies in how the characters’ lives overlap in unexpected and meaningful ways, but here it just didn’t gel. I didn’t dislike either storyline — they were fine in their own right — but they didn’t complement each other in the way I’d hoped. The emotional pay-off that usually hits so well just didn’t land this time.
That said, it’s still an easy, cosy read. Shari Low’s writing is as warm and accessible as ever, and there are moments of insight and heart that shine through. It just didn’t have the same spark as some of her previous one-day books, and I didn’t walk away feeling like I’d made a new group of friends.
Not a bad read by any means — and definitely not enough to put me off picking up the next one — but this one wasn’t a favourite. Still, I’ll always have a soft spot for Low’s storytelling, and I’m hopeful the next book will bring back that magic.

A lovely tale, set across one day, from the point of view of different characters.

One Snowy Day is more of a winter’s day tale, rather than overly Christmasy.
We meet Alyssa, Jessie, Georgie and Lachlan, all with their own tales to tell and baggage to carry!!

As ever the author pulls everything together so well, the scenes are well set and you will be able to see it all in your minds eye. The characters stories are weaved together well and will throw up a few surprises as you read! Considering the whole story is set over one day, you learn so much about everyone, while keeping the story fresh and moving forward.

Overall a lovely wintery story, one that could definitely be left open for a sequel, getting to know the characters even better and see how their lives and relationships move forward.

i dont know how Shari does it. but each and every time i smile even before ive started reading one of her books. im anticipating brilliance and those anticipations are met. and then some. i love her work so much. i literally cannot tell you how excited i was when i saw her cover come next on my tbr pile. i was like a jiggly toddler. you dont even need a review with Shari except for every single comment to say read this you'll love it. and love it you will!
this book weaves together a few characters. they each have their own story to tell and own baggage. but they all fit together in one seamless story that keeps you captured from beginning to end.
Jessie is ready for her retirement in the sun. she moving there with her husband. but is this really what she wants?
Georgie her daughter meanwhile has a dilemma of her own. her mum has left her the charge of the salon. but shes just been offered a job over the seas.
Alyssa has some horrid news when she hears she is facing eviction from a business she has built and grown with love and to love.
then there is Lachlan who has been trying his best to not be anywhere near the town but is forced to return for the reading of his father's will. but little does he know this will leave him with more difficult choices to make. does he do the write thing, and by whom will that be for?
i love how this story unfolds over that 'one snowy day' you get that feeling of that untouched snow, those first footprints, that newness and stillness that brings you in even more to the book and the stories within.
family friendships and secrets come up through this book. stories unfold and feelings are had by us readers that lift you up and hug you with every page you turn.
i want to be enveloped into the stories and communities that Shari writes and i feel Privileged to be a reader of the world she creates for us. shes one beautiful talent and i cant believe we get to share her gifts.
i want to feed SHari's books through my veins. love them. love this one too.

As a big Shari Low fan, I was really excited to dive into this new book — and it didn’t disappoint! Despite the festive title, it’s not overly Christmassy, which I actually liked, as it makes for a great read any time of year. It was lovely to see some familiar characters return, but it also works perfectly well as a standalone story. I absolutely loved it!

I enjoyed One Snowy Day by Shari Low - it takes place over one day and focusses on the point of view of 4 of the main characters. A really well done and enjoyable plot.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my copy of One Snowy Day by Shari Low.

Jessie McLean is retiring and with her husband Stan exchanging the sometimes-challenging weather of Scotland for a life in the sun.
Her daughter is all set to take over the hair salon Jessie has run for so many years.
But first they and the rest of the lovely village have to get through today, just 24 hours of a typical snowy day. What can change.
Read the book and you'll find out.
The amount Shari has packed into the 24 hours and made it all work is seamless, and so clever.
A lot of the characters have been in previous books, and it was great to connect with them, but it doesn't matter if you haven't read them, it works well as a standalone.
A lovely read to curl up in your favorite space and lose yourself.

A warm, uplifting read that's perfect for snuggling up with. It intertwines the lives of several characters over a single day, exploring themes of love, loss, friendship, and surprising second chances. The author skillfully crafts relatable, likable characters, and the multiple perspectives keep the story engaging and well-paced.

The story centers around Jessie, a woman standing on the precipice of a major life change. She’s about to leave everything familiar—her beloved hometown of Weirbridge, her eclectic beauty shop, and most heartbreakingly, her family—for a fresh start abroad. As someone who cherishes strong family connections, I deeply felt Jessie’s turmoil. Her journey is emotional and honest, and her doubts make her all the more real.

Her daughter Georgie, now expected to step into her mother’s shoes, faces her own crossroads. With the support of her brother Grant, her daughter Kayleigh, and an unexpected (and very charming) guest who crashes Jessie’s farewell party, Georgie is forced to reevaluate not only her future, but also what—and who—truly matters most to her.

What makes One Snowy Day so compelling is how much unfolds in a single, dramatic day. Secrets from the past come to light, long-held emotions rise to the surface, and relationships are tested and transformed. The fast pace doesn’t feel rushed but instead adds to the emotional tension and excitement, showing just how much life can change in a moment.

Overall, it is a warm, wintry hug of a novel, reminding us that while the past may be complicated, the future can still be filled with love, hope, and new beginnings.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for the e-ARC of this book.

I liked the structure of everything unravelling in 1 day. You already know all the plot lines are going to collide eventually. I genuinely wanted to pick it up every time I had to get something done and couldn't read it. I do think that, true to the title, it would probably be better in the winter as an atmospheric, cozy read about a community coming together and making hard decisions.

Overall, I would recommend it, especially if you think it's up your alley after reading the blurb.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of One Snowy Day by Shari Low
It takes a great author to write a full novel that all takes place in one day
The plot and characters are awesome. I was engaged from the first page. Didn't want to put this book down. I've read many novels by Shari Low, she's one of those authors you sit on the edge of your seat for her next book. This was definitely a feel good book, it would be great if there was a sequel!

Another 5 star read written by Shari. What an incredible talent she is. I don’t know how she managed to keep 24 hours so jam packed. When I first read all the names of the different characters, I was certain I wouldn’t remember them all.
As usual there’s a focus on 4 main characters and those close to them, this time we follow Jessie McLean, Georgie Dern, Alyssa Canavan and Lachlan Morden on an incredibly snowy day in Weirbridge.
Jessie, owner of Copper Curls is set to retire on her 65th birthday, leaving the salon in the capable hands of her daughter Georgie, however, she has the offer of a lifetime to consider. Whilst her dad wants to take her mum off to live in Tenerife. Alyssa runs a wonderful café with the help of her sister and granddad. Her mum Dorinda is a bit of an odd one. Lachlan returns for the reading of his dads will and finds himself inheriting something he never imagined. His brother isn’t as caring and kind as Lachlan so they but heads over what to do. It all comes together and to a head at the birthday party in the café that night. I read it in one sitting, that’s how invested I was.
It's so brilliantly tied together and everything fits. Snow, delays, renovations, fabulous hair and brilliantly tasty cakes with some romance thrown in for good measure.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.

I have been following Shari Low books and am very happy as usual when a new book with familiar characters is published. They are like old friends (if you know what it means you know what it means) and it was good to catch up with their lives again.

This time, some new characters, popping up for an inheritance, and as usual some shocking dramatic twists in the plot (minor plot that made me go all wide-eyed and understand why the character was the way he was) but the way Shari Low manages to pop up some old detail from one of her previous books for her loyal readers was like finding easter eggs. The "oh yeah! that guy did that a few books ago!" moment was great.

Ending was slightly abrupt, I had hoped to find out more about what happened to the cafe building but maybe that is a story for the coming books!

This book was as warm as a winter lodge fireplace after a long day out in the snow. I adored our cast of characters and felt connected to each of them in their own special way.

The setting, the diverse group of women, all of it seamlessly worked for a perfect little Christmas in July read!

A new book by this author is a definite read for me,I dont even read the blurb as I know will love it

Once again we are treated to the ‘’everything happens in a day’ story ( stories ) that Shari Low does so so well and we meet Alyssa,Jessie,Georgie and Lachlan, all 4’s lives will be turned around by events within the 16 hour setting….as always these books can be read as a stand alone but also as always we re meet previous characters who appear in various roles throughout……..tis always good to see Val ( and the others )

‘One Snowy Day’ finds us early December in the snowy Scottish village of Weirbridge where a retirement/ moving party is about to happen that evening……some of those attending dont realise what is going to happen to them in the lead up to it and some who will be there haven’t a clue in the Morning they will be attending…

Families, relationships, secrets and emotion all roll together to once again make this authors book nothing less than a pleasure to read and as always I want to be there and part of it

Love the idea at the beginning of the book to list the characters and explain who they are under the title of ‘on this snowy day we meet’…..

Superb involving reading, that for me are just perfect

A cozy, feel-good read perfect for curling up with. It weaves together the lives of several characters over the course of a single day, touching on love, loss, friendship, and unexpected second chances. The author does a nice job creating likable, relatable characters, and the multiple perspectives keep things moving at a nice pace.

That said, while it’s warm and comforting, it doesn’t quite hit emotionally hard or stand out plot-wise. Some moments feel a little too tidy or predictable, and the story doesn’t dig very deep. Still, if you’re looking for a light, easy read with a hopeful message, this one fits the bill.

Thank you NetGalley & Boldwood Books for sending this book for review consideration.

I loved this book so much. The idea of being set in a 24 hour timeframe was so different. The characters were great and the storytelling really sucked me in. I can't wait to read more by this author. Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

Firstly I loved the format and structure of the book. One day broken up into hours.

The story centres around likeably characters alll drawn together on one Snowy Day.

Jessie - retiring from her hair salon and moving with her husband to Tenerife.

Georgie Jessie's daughter - taking over the salon but has dreams of far aways places.

Alyssa - owns the local cafe and has been given 60 days notice to vacate.

Lachlan Morden - along with this brother discovering after his fathers death, that he is equal partner in the cafe.

So much can happy in one day if you believe in youself and the ones that you love!

Another page turner from Shari Lowe. A perfect blend of emotions from this interwoven group of friends and family, as they discover truths from the past, and make plans for the future. A fabulous read, I couldn't put it down.

December 1, One Snowy Day, is life changing for Alyssa, Jessie, Georgie and Lachlan. That night, the entire village of Weirbridge will gather at The Once a Time Café for a combination birthday and going away party for salon owner Jessie McLean. The next morning, she and her husband Stan will leave for Tenerife and retirement in the sun. On the surface, all is ready for the celebration. On the surface, that is. Alyssa, Jessie and Georgie are all keeping secrets hidden. Jessie, unhappy with the move, has buried a long ago threat to her marriage. Georgie must turn down the dream job she has always wanted. Alyssa may have to close her popular café. Lachlan, still reeling with grief from a tragedy, will find a second chance at happiness after an unplanned visit to Weirbridge.

The talented Shari Low fills One Snowy Day with joy, anger, disappointment, sorrow and hope. The emotions pull you in to the story and leave you with a smile when you read the final page. This is a book to read in one sitting. Put this on top of your TBR pile. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Shari Low for this ARC.
