One day, snow and events to change everything
A birthday, a party, news and revelations it will bring.
So many in the community will soon discover
More changes for one another!

A fascinating story told from four different points of view
Where each of them discovers something new.
Family, friendships and more beside
Along with secrets some had tried to hide.

Planned changes due to happen that day
New considerations that could sway
Will once couple go away to stay
Or will what happens change their way?

The characters and community are brought to life
Along with their worries, their troubles and strife.
The community, the friendships and support, too,
Make this a brilliant read all the way through.

Such a great read involving so many threads, too,
No wonder I've no hesitation highly recommending it to you!
For my copy of this book I say a huge thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

One Snowy Day is a wonderful, super snowy page turner and centres around ‘One snowy day and four lives’….

This was such a nice quick and easy read and its pulled me in right from the very first page, it was so addictive and i just had to keep reading and reading until very quickly i had completely devoured it all!

It can very easily be read as a standalone without any problems or without any knowledge of this author’s previous books, even though there are some recurring characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was funny and oh so sweet too, there was friendship & love and it was feel-good and heartwarming too. There were some wonderful, warm characters who I became totally invested in and loved getting entwined in all their stories…

This is a great feel good read, perfect for curling up with on a Winter’s afternoon. The story takes place in the titular one day, and is narrated by different characters in turn. The village setting, and particularly the cafe, is very inviting.

I enjoyed reading One Snowy Day by Shari Low. You will fall in love with all the characters. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy Reading!

I love books by Low! The book centres around 'a day in the lives of...', and is told over a twenty-four hour period by a group of people whose stories seamlessly intertwine together.

It's the 1st of December and we're off to Weirbridge where we meet Jessie, Georgie, Lachlan and Alyssa...the people who's lives are just about to change forever! We also catch up with several familiar faces to!

A thoroughly enjoyable, heartwarming holiday read.

When things seem too good to be true, they probably are!
This story is set within a 24hr timeline with Stan and his wife, Jessie are getting ready to say Bon Voyage to friends, family and customers as they get ready to emigrate so they can enjoy their retirement in the sun. They have arranged a joint party to celebrate Jessie’s birthday, retirement and the end of an era so they can say their farewells to everyone at once and really go out with a bang (and a major hangover 😊)
Jessie has handed over the business to her daughter, Georgie who has also been working at the salon since she was a child, but unknown to her Georgie has been offered her dream job being the stylist for the rich and famous for a show….. What a quandary to find yourself in - do you stay and continue running the family salon or jet off to another country for the chance of a lifetime? Her brother Grant is already a famous hairstylist in London who has his opinions, leaving Georgie torn.
Alyssa runs a cafe opposite which is the heart of the town with the oldies meeting for a hot drink and a slice of cake with a large helping of gossip to top it off, when suddenly she receives a letter which changes everything and it couldn’t have come at a more worst time.

Will there be happy endings all round or trouble in paradise?

Four lives stories in one day. A snowy day that will bring together four different people, with different lives and plans but will connected their stories artfully, as always in Shari Low’s books. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARc. This is my honest review.

I initially felt daunted when over twenty characters were named in the prologue, how will I remember them all. Evidently quite easily due to the book being so well written.

The story opens on an early December morning and follows the lives and loves for that one day of family and close friends in the Scottish village community of Weirbridge. Four main characters: Jessie's newly retired and about to move to Tenerife, Alyssa is facing eviction from her business premises and home, Jessie's daughter Georgie receives an unexpected job offer and Lachlan has travelled from London for the reading of his father's will. A lot is packed into one day, a very clever plot, skilfully written.

A great story with believable and likeable characters. Classified as a romance, I expected the happy ending, all the loose ends were neatly tied up in a very satisfactory conclusion.

Recommended.

Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book, this review is my personal, unbiased opinion.

On this snowy day in Weirbridge, big changes are afoot.
Jessie is turning sixty-five and retiring to Tenerife,
Georgie has been offered the job of a lifetime in Hollywood and Alyssa is about to lose everything she's worked hard for.
Over a 24-hour period, we meet a brilliant cast of characters whose lives are interwoven.
As usual Shari Low has produced a brilliant book which I didn't want to end. The "One Day" books are such a treat and so cleverly and engagingly written.

This book is amazing and loved it that much I couldn’t put the book down!

Blurb

On a cold winter’s day, a storm is brewing in the village of Weirbridge…

Georgie Dern has the chance to swap her empty nest for the job of a lifetime in Los Angeles. Can she chase her dream if it means letting down the woman who has given her the world?

Jessie McLean should be counting down the hours until she jets off to spend her retirement years in the sun. But when a devastating betrayal resurfaces, she has to choose between a fresh start and staying behind to settle old scores.

Alyssa Canavan has spent years building the business she adores. Now a legal letter has threatened her home and livelihood, but how does she fight a family that doesn’t give a damn?

Lachlan Morden is forced to return to Scotland to face the people who almost destroyed him. Will coming home reopen old wounds, or will a memory from the past lead him to the perfect revenge?

This is my first Shari Low book and it didn't disappoint. Well written with lovely characters and was a joy to read.

This book focuses on Jessie, Georgie, Alyssa, and Lachlan and what transpires in one day that changes all four lives dramatically. Jessie is retiring and moving out of the area with her husband; Georgie is taking over her mom's hair salon, but has been offered the job of a lifetime; Alyssa owns a cafe and has been given a 60 day notice to vacate; and Lachlan owns a small construction company and is back in town for the reading of his father's will.

The storyline consists of some "I didn't see that coming" moments, a couple predictable moments, some adorable characters, and some characters you'll instantly dislike. The way the author mentioned it snowing frequently it really sets the mood for the book.

This book breaks the day down in 2 hour increments so you easily see how the day progresses for each. I loved that the author put a list of characters in the front of the book, their ages and details about them, so you can refer back to it if needed.

If you're looking for a book to get you in the mood for the upcoming winter season, I recommend reading this one. It's fast paced, bingeable, and a quick read.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

There’s quite a number of key characters in this book and we are slowly introduced to Jessie, her daughter Georgie, Alyssa and Lachlan. As the story progresses, it becomes clearer how their lives are intertwined.

On her 65th birthday, Jessie is retiring from working at her salon, with plans to move to Tenerife with her husband. The salon is to be managed by Georgie due to her retirement. However, the various events that occur in that one snowy day leads to a major change in their lives.

I loved how the twists and the many secrets were slowly revealed. It kept me hooked to the book as I desperately wanted to know how it would unravel and impact their lives.

I honestly loved the “lesson” from Jessie’s plot. As a mother myself, I fully understand how we tend to put our loved ones first—our children, our spouse, our family—and in doing so, lose ourself. This was a good reminder that above and beyond being a mom, I am first myself …a person with my own likes, dislikes and dreams.

Charming, well written, and heartwarming, One Snowy Day takes place over a 24-hour day. Shari Low can draw me into her books full of characters experiencing some kind of change in their lives whether it be a career change, death, loss, relationship issues, or family issues. In One Snowy Day, readers get to be silent observers as several characters have their lives change in a 24-hour period!

As with her other books, this book had me rooting for several characters as they grapple with changes in their lives. I enjoyed how she had them mulling over their choices in realistic and relatable ways. I enjoyed getting the POV's from several characters as they rely on themselves, their friends, and family members. Secrets, twists, and revelations will be made.

I found myself rooting for the characters and the obstacles and choices they must overcome and make. As with her other books, One Snowy Day is wonderfully written and well thought out.

No one effectively slices up one day into 2:hour increments with multiple view points like Shari Low.
Much can happen in 24 hours as Jessie realizes what she agreed to is not what she wants; Georgie has the chance of a lifetime but will she take it; Alyssa gets a shock, and Lachlan needs to correct some wrongs.
The pieces fit cohesively together and it was easy to shift from each chapter and time period.
Well dine!

Jessie McLean and her husband Stan were preparing to head to Tenerife for their retirement after Jessie's party that night for both her birthday, and farewell. The small town of Weirbridge had been home for Jessie her whole life, bringing up Georgie and Grant as they grew into responsible young adults. Georgie was going to run Jessie's salon she'd owned and worked in for the past forty years, and leaving it to her was a dream come true. Grant lived and worked in London, but was home for the celebrations. But during the party in Alyssa's cafe across from the salon, where it seemed the whole town was there, small things began to go wrong.

Georgie had been offered her dream job; Alyssa had received a devastating letter from a solicitor; Lachlan had returned to Scotland after his life was shattered, much against his will; Jessie's mind was in turmoil - what would be the outcome for these lovely, caring friends in Weirbridge?

One Snowy Day is another spectacular read by Shari Low, a standalone which is linked by a few characters in return visits from Ms Low's books. I'm so glad I found this author as I've enjoyed all I've read so far. One Snowy Day is set during one day, when snow was falling heavily, and steadily, when people's lives were changing, when friends and family were supporting one another and when difficult decisions were being made. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for my digital ARC to read and review.

Four characters tells their story and it all comes to a head at a party at the end of the day.
I love this author’s books! This one however took me sometime to get into. It’s a slow build that ended with a bang.

We may have had feel-like temps in the 100+ range this week, but it is snowing in Weirbridge, Scotland.

Four people give us their perspective on that ONE SNOWY DAY:

JESSIE MCLEAN - Her birthday party /going way party happens tonight. She should be spending the day pampering herself and preparing for a dream retirement in Tenerife with husband Stan. Why does she feel this sense of impending doom?
GEORGIE DERN - It's her mom's big day, but 38 year-old Georgie is at a crossroads of her own. She has more than one big decision weighing on her mind. What will her life be like after this day is through?
ALYSSA CANAVAN - Her Once Upon a Time Cafe' is the site of the big party. Bad news arrives early in the day and send her life into a tailspin. Who would she be if these changes were to move forward?
LACHLAN MORDEN - As a builder and London resident, he at first seems to be disconnected from our other characters. Just wait and let Shari Low work her storytelling magic.

At the beginning of each book, Shari Low gives us rundown of all the characters we will meet in her book. This seems intimidating at first -- I know I felt that way with my first book by the author. I compare it to a multi-course meal. As you approach the table, you see all the plates, glasses and utensils set up for the diners. As the meal is served, the enjoyment is enhanced by the table setting. In the same way, the characters serve as a structure for Shari Low to tell a story that brings the characters to life and makes them feel like friends.

If you have enjoyed other books by the author, familiar characters like Val Murray, Moira Chiles, and others are included. In her author's note, Shari gives us a rundown on who she has chosen to include from other books and where else we can read about them. I love seeing those connections and it reminds me that I have a few more books to read of hers.

This book is due to be released on August 3, 2025. Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a DRC in exchange for an honest review.

This book had all the cozy feels of winter.
Following the lives of four different characters with four different stories. There is love, laughter, loss and friendship. All the things combined make for an incredible story. This book captured me from start to finish, I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Thank you Netgalley.

This is a stand alone book but it does feature characters from the author's previous books. This is no issue to the main story contained herein but you might find it helpful to read her books in publication order to get the main backstories of some of the repeating characters in chronological order...
So, in this book we follow four main characters...
Jessie has retired from her hairdressing business and is about to jet off with her husband to start anew in the sun...
Georgie is about to take over the reigns at aforementioned hairdressers but there's a spanner in the works and she has just been offered her dream job. She can't do both...
Alyssa runs the village coffee shop but she has just received a letter from the solicitor acting on behalf of the family who is about to inherit the property from her landlord who has just died. It looks like she will lose the business she has spent years building up...
Lachlan is forced to come home. To return to the place he left after his world exploded, to an estranged brother who he hates with a passion, to hear his father's will.
And it's beginning to snow...
I think I have mentioned before that I discovered this author when I read the Hollywood Thriller series she co-wrote with Ross King, which are also really great reads if you get chance! Since then, I have been avidly pouncing on every new book she releases as well as working my way through her impressive back catalogue. I just love the way she creates the best characters and puts them in the most challenging situations and basically winds it all up and lets it go with delightful, and occasionally surprising, outcomes. As my main genres of choice tend to be on the heavy brutal crime side, it's refreshing to have found an author who produces lighter reads which are also substantial stories, chock full of every conceivable emotion. She really puts me through the ringer with what she puts her characters through, after making me connect with them so well, and, you know what, I love it!
I think I also have already mentioned that the only bad thing I can ever say about her books is having to leave the characters when the story ends. Luckily they do have a habit of popping up in other books so often the end really isn't the end and I get to catch up with them, see how they're doing, and I hope I do manage to reconnect with some of the "friends" I have made in this book too...
My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
