In this book we meet various people, see their portraits and hear their stories.
Many stories come from hardship, trials life has dealt them to deal with and range from isolation due to illness, losing family, friends, coming out, going to prison etc, really hard hitting issues that can turn life as you know it upside down.
At the same time though, showing loneliness affects anyone and everyone no matter gender, sexuality, age it doesn't define but instils one very good point, connection can happen in real life or online, daily living a simple smile can start a conversation developing connection and we should all judge each other less.

On Loneliness is a great addition to the series. This for me was an emotionally moving read.,.The individual photographs accompanying each personal essays made this an extremely intimate read. Each individual sharing their story of loneliness,,isolation really brought their stories alive .#NetGalley #onloneliness

On Loneliness shares diverse perspectives of solitude and loneliness. Through the realization of our shared loneliness, community can often be found. This book explores a variety of experiences that have led to lives of loneliness or solitude. Some individuals have found contentedness in their time alone, while others long to feel like they belong. Most of these stories provide glimpses of love, loss, displacement, or being misunderstood. The interviews are surprisingly short but poignant. I would recommend this collection for fans of Humans of New York.

Another beautiful book by The School of Life, this time on loneliness. The entries are short but poignant and wise, yet hopeful. The pictures are gorgeous and every subject had some insight into their own loneliness and circumstances, and it was easy to relate to everyone, even when our circumstances are vastly different. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me preview this gorgeous book

Composed in one of TSoL's most curious concepts, with sincere photos and stories of humans who express the theme, in this case, loneliness, On Lonelines is another great addition to the collection.
I view and/or purchase these books in print after reviewing them, and the print versions offer an excellently inspiring experience.

I visited The School of Life shop in London a number of years ago after reading various books and essays. I was impressed by the products related to personal growth and therapy. It’s for this reason that I was very keen to read this book.
It most definitely made me think more about loneliness in today's society, as well as the numerous reasons behind people's feelings of isolation. Reasons such as illness, bereavement, refugee status, ethnicity, working patterns, and neurodiversity were mentioned, among many others. I appreciated the layout of the book and the photos of the contributors.
This book made me feel emotional and really highlighted the importance of everyday kindness and empathy. As connection can feel so inaccessible, it's important to remember how many small acts can make a huge difference to a person's everyday life. I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
