I’m a huge fan of Regina Jeffers and was excited to read her entry into the Lyon’s Den series. This is the first I’ve read that didn’t involve the matchmaking services of the Widow. Duncan’s Boys look to be the beginning of a great series with an equal mix of romance and mystery. Lady Emma is violently attacked and found stumbling lost in an unsavory area of London when Lord Richard finds her. He offers a safe place to recover and a years-old fascination with her. As their attraction grows, her memory loss hampers their relationship along with the mystery of her attack. The road to their HEA and the answers to her attack are handled well by the author making this book an easy and entertaining read

This book was not for me. It felt very slow, there are all lot of characters and i just was not able to get into the writing style. Okay read and not memorable.

A good mix of slow-burn romance and suspense. This is the first of a five-book miniseries within the larger Lyon's Den collection, and a good introduction to the characters. Richard is one of five adopted "sons" of Lord Duncan. They were taken in as children to protect them from unscrupulous relatives. Lord Duncan is also an operative for the British government and trained them also to work for the Crown. This training proves particularly useful during the book.

Lady Emma is the daughter of a career diplomat who has spent the past decade out of the country, leaving Emma at home to be cared for by servants. She is intelligent, stubborn, and has strong opinions that she acts on with enthusiasm. Most recently, she joined others blocking the entrance to White's, calling out its members for their various sins. For more than a year, she has caught Richard's attention. Though he shakes his head at her antics, she fascinates him.

Matters become complicated when Richard finds Emma badly beaten and confused in Covent Garden. His protective instincts kick in, and he takes her to Duncan's home for care and protection. Emma doesn't remember anything about what happened to her. Richard and his brothers join forces to investigate what happened to her. The twists and turns of the investigation kept me guessing to the end. The nail-biting final confrontation kept me glued to the pages until it was over.

I liked Richard's care and understanding as Emma slowly recovered from the attack. The time they spend together allows them to get to know each other. Richard falls hard for her and struggles to maintain focus when she is near. Emma's feelings for Richard grow, but she hesitates to give in while her memories remain elusive. I enjoyed their interactions and seeing how they balance each other. The ending had a cute twist that suited their relationship.

There is a secondary mystery that runs through the book. A mysterious assailant shot Lord Duncan at the beginning of the story. The brothers are determined to bring the shooter to justice, but clues are hard to find. The epilogue provides a hint of what is to come in future books.

Lord Richard Orson is the adopted son of Lord Macdonald Duncan. He and his brothers and sister were groomed to serve the English government. Already in love with the lady, Richard has had his eye on Lady Emma Donoghue for over a year. The only child of Lord and Lady Donoghue, an ambassador to the Northern Netherland's government, Emma hasn't seen them in nearly ten years. It's Richard who finds her beaten and alone in the less than savory part of London. With no memory of what happened, he takes her to the safest house he knows, Lord Duncan's. Richard and his family have the knowledge and connections to solve her mystery and what a tangled web it is. Mrs. Dove-Lyon plays a minor role, but is important enough to be in the plot.

A bit of a wild ride, this Lyon’s Den addition, and not a dull moment. I hope this is the beginning of a series of Lord Duncan’s five sons and one daughter, because while Richard and Emma found love and answers to a rather involved mystery, there remains another. Dove-Lyon makes a few appearances, but Jeffers didn’t quite understand her dynamic. However, I’m very much looking forward to the next story in this well written and thoroughly engaging saga.

I thoroughly enjoyed this slow burn romantic suspense with its wounded heroine, damsel in distress, amnesia, close proximity, he falls first and found family tropes. The plot is very well written and bursts with very likable main and supporting characters, two attempted murder mysteries, twists, action, danger, suspense, drama and a bit of steam.
Part of the story ends with a cliffhanger and I'm already curious about the other brothers' stories.

Lord Richard Orson, one of "Duncan's sons", has been trained together with his brothers, to be a spy by his adoptive father. For some time he has been secretly attracted to the unconventional and socially awkward Lady Emma Donoghue, who campaigns for women's rights and against male dominance. When someone first tries to murder his father as he leaves Lyon's den and some time later he finds the badly injured Emma, who has lost her memory, in a secluded alleyway in Covent Garden, Richard and his brothers have their hands full protecting the two of them and solving the crimes.
Having been neglected by her parents for a long time, Emma lives in loneliness and isolation. After the attack on her, Emma can no longer remember anything, but despite the constant danger, she feels safe and a part of things for the first time in her life in Richard's company. However, without a memory of the robbery and who is threatening her life, there can be no happy ending for the two

All in all, a fast-paced and action-packed addition to the series with endearing characters that I am happy to recommend!

I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

I enjoyed this novel I have not read this, author before but found the ideas of a family drawn together via adversity working as a team for the good of the country very interesting and look forward to reading the other characters stories.
I have read stories about the lyons club , but the story line of a proposal for Lord Duncan seemed odd there was no explanation of why or who the lady was is this another book that I haven't read or is it a future story,

Thank you NetGalley. Richard Orson one of the five adopted sons of Lord Duncan and his wife was with Duncan leaving the Lyon's Den when Duncan is shot. He is fortunate to live but they keep the condition as secret as they can. Richard is out with his friend in Covent Gardens when he finds Lady Emma. she has been beaten. He takes her to Duncan's house to keep her some place safe. She has been in font of White's not letting men in. She can't remember what happened. He has been watching her for a year and is interested in her. As he helps her they become closer. His brothers help as much as the can. I dearly hope this is the beginning of a series. I find the brothers all interesting.

Lyon in the Way is set in the captivating world of the Lyon's Den, where Lady Dove-Lyon runs a popular gaming establishment & matchmaking service. This book however, does not center around characters who have contracted with Lady Dove-Lyon for a match but more about characters that exist in the world. Primarily Lord Richard Orson, one of the foster sons of Lord MacDonald Duncan & Lady Emma Donoghue, a feisty and independent young woman determined to change Society for the better.

Richard has been interested in Emma for close to a year, but hasn't drummed up the fortitude to actually do something about it. After leaving a bachelor party in Covent Garden he comes across a nearly unconscious Emma who has been beaten horribly and is determined to keep her safe. He rushes her to Lord Duncan's home where she can be cared for, and where he, his foster father & brothers can solve the mystery of who attacked Emma and why.

Matters are complicated by Emma's amnesia, brought about by the physical and psychological effects of the attack. Sparks fly regardless between Richard & Emma as they're drawn to each other like magnets. The question is, will they find the culprit and stop them in time? It's a really interesting story with lots a twists and turns.

Lyon in the Way is not my usual choice for a historical romance book but I did enjoy it a great deal. I liked the characters and the storyline. I think others who enjoy romantic suspense stories would enjoy it too.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Lord Richard is enamored with unconventional Lady Emma. She’s different from all the other women he’s encountered in the Ton. She speaks up for causes and for those less fortunate. When Richard discovers Emma in Covent Gardens after midnight, he acts quickly. He must protect Emma from harm and scandal and is thrust into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Can Richard uncover who wants Emma silenced forever without losing his heart?

Lyon in the Way is a breathtaking Regency romantic suspense I couldn’t put down. The descriptive narration pulls the reader into the story from the first page. Every detail is sumptuously described, which makes for an entertaining reading experience. The world-building is lush. But it’s the characters which make this an unputdownable read.

Lady Emma is an unconventional heroine. She defies society’s norms and is a champion for causes, people and circumstances a proper lady has no right to be involved with. Her intelligence only adds to my admiration for Emma. I connected with her in so many ways.

The romance is slow-burn but so satisfying. Regina Jeffers starts with a spark of attraction and builds layer upon layer until love blooms. There is intrigue as well as danger mingling with romance which only made me read faster.

I’ve been a huge fan of Regina Jeffers and her books for many years. This is her first book with Dragonblade Publishing and it’s a beautiful historical romance. Fans of Grace Callaway and Sarah E. Ladd will love Lyon in the Way. I look forward to reading more from Regina Jeffers.

I fear this story was not quite my cup of tea, unfortunately.

Generally, I can enjoy a good amnesia trope, but I found myself not enjoying how the author went about it in this scenario, personally. I could not really understand much about Emma's character because we didn't get much about who she was or her normal behaviors previous to the incident that kicks off the story. And I wasn't really on board with the relationship between the main characters. I just couldn't feel them having genuine interest with each other through their discussions.

Another Lyon's Den novel I got to read as a NetGalley ARC, always thanks to them and the publisher, Dragonblade Publishing.

Even though I didn't find myself loving this one, doesn't mean you won't - in fact, I think I'm in the minority of the other's who have already read and reviewed this! So if you enjoy a historical romance with amnesia/memory loss trope, a damsel in distress with a protective hero, and the slow unraveling of a mysterious situation, you would probably enjoy this. I did like the styling of how the author wrote, so I wouldn't be against continuing to read more from her within in the Lyon's Den series (this book is the first in what appears to be a 5 book series).

A Lyon in the Way is the next book in The Lyon's Den Connected World.

Lord Richard Orson has been aware if to Lady Emma Donoghue for some time. While they are not of the same methods, they do care about helping others. He feels the need to see to her safety. While in Covent Garden, he finds her beaten and needing immediate care. He takes her to the Duncan home to receive the care she needs. Once Lady Emma awakens, she realizes she has no memory of what has happened. Richard and his brothers set out to learn why she was beaten and abandoned. Emma. Little by little her memories return, but her feelings for Richard are growing. As they discover who is out to hurt Emma, she is rescued but there are still loose ends that need to be resolved regarding Duncan.

There are a few things I thought the story could have done without. There are sections that lag due to repeating and lamenting. There are many things to love about this book. The characters first off are a wonderful group of people. The Duncan "family" is an interesting and caring group of characters. I found myself caught up in the Duncan 'family'. I can't wait to read each of their individual stories.

Lyon in the Way by Regina Jeffers is an entertaining story about a young woman who loudly protests what she sees as injustice for women, Lady Emma Donoghue, and an interesting member of the ton, Lord Richard Orston. Orston had been watching Emma’s antics for a year or more and he was fascinated. He didn’t like that he was fascinated, but there it was. Until one night when he found her beaten body, shoeless, in an alley in which she had no business being. He took her, not to his home, but to the home of his adopted father, Lord Duncan, where his servants cared for her. He had a lot going on as he was to stand up with his best friend at his wedding in a few days. He wanted to talk to Emma to see if he could find out what had happened to her, but alas, she carried no memories.

A little more involved, the language a little more formal than normal, and Mrs. Dove-Lyon only on the periphery of the story, not arranging this match. Those are things of note. What is also important is that Lady Emma had been ignored by her parents for most of her life, living with servants...no one close. She had a half-sister whom she thought was her friend, but it was complicated. She was drawn to Sir Richard but also knew he was above her station. She could never become what it would take to be his wife. Things got interesting when it appeared that whomever had attacked her was not ready to give up. This story had a real plot, and portends more with this “family.” The characters were crisp and identifiable and very interesting. The pace lagged in spots but overall was excellent. As in most romances, there was a definite happily-ever-after.

I was invited to read Lyon in the Way by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley, #Dragonblade #ReginaJeffers #LyonInTheWay

He's reluctantly in to her...

Sir Richard has been reluctantly fascinated by Lady Emma for over two years, though he denies it all the way. It isn't until she is injured, hit in the head with no memory of who she is or how she got to a shady part of town. Richard is only too happy to play her rescuer and protector, but there are interconnected mysteries tying these two together as well as to find out who is trying to harm Emma and Duncan.
Recommend.

Richard is such a fascinating character! He and his 'brothers' have had difficult lives, but he has hope. I enjoyed his humility and his obsession of Emma. She is a tragic heroine, but finds courage to persevere. The Lyons Den behind and through it all keeps it mysterious. I enjoyed this book a lot!

A fast-paced and exciting romance, this book kept me in suspense until the closing chapter. Lord Richard has been attracted to Lady Emma Donoghue for some time, and despite her radical leanings, he cannot help but keep an eye on her to ensure her safety in the absence of her parents. Finding her broken and bleeding in Covent Garden, he immediately takes her to the home of his mentor, where she can receive the treatment she needs. With total amnesia, Lady Emma cannot put the pieces together, nor can she tell Richard anything that would help him track down her attacker. As he and his brothers search for the truth, they keep stumbling on odd bits of information that do not add up, and as Emma starts to have flashes of memory, the confusion grows. The attraction between Emma and Richard also escalates, but Emma is reluctant to allow her feelings to become involved until she is certain she can remember the events leading up to her attack. As the story reaches its climax, the truth is eventually revealed, and Emma is shocked at the betrayal. Richard and Emma's story comes to a sweet conclusion, but there are still loose ends that need to be resolved. I received a copy of this mystery as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

An enjoyable who-done-it with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing till the end. The romance was nice and believable and the supporting characters were also great.

Richard is part of an extended family with five sons taken in by Duncan to protect their lives and their inheritances.
Emma fascinates him over time as he observes her. She is an independent thinker and a woman who fights for the rights of others.
One night in a dark alley, he meets her for the first time and rescues her as she was attacked and beaten with amnesia. He works to help her and she tries to recover her memories,
Complicated circumstances and betrayals litter the story as their romance is just beginning.
Enjoyed the family dynamics and the history of the characters.

I read each and every Lyon's Den book I can get my hands on. The series has different authors which adds to the variety of the series in unique ways. However, this is the first one times I've read one with multiple plots and a mystery that is continuing. Richard is one of five sons to Lord Duncan. Someone is trying to kill Duncan, additionally he finds Emma beaten and hurt. A longer than normal Lyon's Den and with multiple characters who are involved causing the reader to really pay attention as the plot leads in different directions. I liked the premise and the story, but I dropped the rating a bit because there were parts that I felt were too repetitious and could have been removed. I believe this is the first Lyons den for this author and I'm hoping her next book comes out soon as the threat to Duncan is still viable as that portion of the mystery remains a mystery!

For over a year, Lord Richard Orson has been quietly captivated by the unconventional Lady Emma Donoghue. Headstrong, brilliant, and unapologetically involved in causes that rattle Society’s comfort, Emma is nothing like the debutantes he’s expected to court. But when he finds her bruised, confused, and alone in Covent Garden after midnight, Richard is thrust into a far more dangerous game. Someone wants Emma silenced.
This was the first full length novel I’ve read by the author & it won’t be the last! It started slowly as characters were introduced but then the pace picked up & I was hooked. Richard is one of Lord Duncan’s ‘sons’ five boys he & his wife rescued as youngsters when they & their inheritances were threatened. It was different, I loved Richard & Emma & really liked most of the secondary characters. Richard fell first & Emma had her insecurities as well as injuries so it was a slow burn romance. There was plenty more to hold my interest, also plenty of twists and turns before the villain is caught. The epilogue was a bit of teaser & gave hints as to what is to follow. A well written thoroughly enjoyable story & I look forward to more from the author
