I had to remind myself a couple of times while reading this that this was indeed a YA book as every now and then my brain kept going “gosh this is juvenile”. But for this books intended audience it’s actually pretty good. It’s giving great Fall witchy vibes and while it does involve a town in “peril”, it’s still somehow really cozy. I found it easy to sympathize with the motivations behind each of the main characters, I guess it’s because I saw a little bit of myself in each one of them, and I felt like they just fit really well together.

This was so cute!!!!! I think we as a society deserve more sapphic, witchy, low-stakes books.
Were the characters slightly annoying? Sure, but they're high school girls. They're going through their growing pains, let them live. I thought the rivalry was done well, to an extent. There wasn't a real moment of origin in their rivalry, and both girls thought the other one started it, which was fine but definitely made their "becoming friends" arc more reasonable with no actual hatred in the relationship.
I LOVED the comphet that Lily went through in this book, deciding to have a crush on a random guy at school and trying to make it work for her. Very relatable. I can't recall if I've ever seen comphet written in a sapphic book before, but I'm a huge fan of it. (Disclaimer that Lily never actually identifies as a lesbian, but I know comphet when I see comphet.)
I also thought the book was divided really well between the plot (the hex/curse Lily and Chrys inadvertently made -- this did feel slightly low stakes to me, as I never really thought the town was in actual danger, and that's okay! Low stakes is totally fine!) and the romance. The third act breakup was ok at best, but I've never loved a third act breakup and the eventual reunion always feels rushed to me.
The book kind of gave me the vibe of Practical Magic's town/setting. Very cute.

For starters, this cover is beautiful, I love it and it is so fitting for this! This was a fantastic YA spooky season read that kept you turning page after page. I loved it. The characters are very well written, the storyline is fantastic and it was just the right amount of spice for any reader. The twists and turns are so much fun. If you are looking for a fun fast paced spooky season enemies to lovers YA read without any trigger warnings or spice this needs to be on your TBR right away.

Absolutely loved this one! Sapphic witchy romances are so perfect for fall and this one was excellent. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC!

Binge read this one. Another cute and funny, lighthearted book for the fall season. Definitely pick this up for a sapphic Halloweentown vibe.

This sapphic, rivals-to-lovers, witchy YA romance is the perfect way to dive into your fall tbr as if it is a huge pile of leaves! I loved the vibes from the start. It feels very early 2000s in all of the best ways while also feeling very current. Lily and Chrysanthemum both feel like real people (who can do magic). Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

If you've ever wanted Belle and Snow White to get together, this is the book for you. Lily and Chrys are different sides of the same coin. Looking for acceptance is just a right of passage for women. In general, we all need to learn to accept ourselves instead of seeking acceptance. Also, sometimes we lean into how others see us too much instead of who we want to be. I love the inner exploration of both the women, something adults achieve a little too often. Vulnerability is powerful.

After reading the blurb, I was hooked. Reading the book was a different story. This felt too YA for me, I had expected it to be NA. I liked the tarot/ magic aspect and the story was cute but it took a while to enjoy it. The writing style wasn’t for me. I think the intended audience will really enjoy it but it didn’t do it for me. 2.5

Thank you to NetGalley and Holiday House for a complimentary early release copy of No Charm Done by Tori Anne Martin.
I feel that my feelings regarding No Charm Done are a bit mixed, I liked the romance between Lily and Chrys, It didn’t feel overdone and it was definitely cutesy in a way that I enjoy. I liked the scenery of the book, I loved the fall and Halloween vibes as they made for a great atmosphere. I was invested in the curse/hex stuff and I found the magic of this world to be interesting. However I feel that this book didn’t really catch my attention until about the sixty percent mark. When I first started reading I didn’t enjoy either of these characters, both of them come across as really full of themselves and I found their bickering to be annoying.
Once the romance starts to get involved I enjoyed the book a lot more, I thought they made a good pair and made each other better but then the third act break up comes in and it ruined things for me, it’s was very sudden & rushed but it reminded me of how these characters were in the beginning and I didn’t like it. It felt like things had already wrapped up and the book was going to focus more on the main characters personal lives and romance. I felt that the break up should have happened sooner or not at all. Overall I’m landing on a 2.5 rating.

Sure! Here's the copy-and-paste-friendly version of the three-star review for *No Charm Done* by Tori Anne Martin:
---
*No Charm Done* is a sass-filled, witchy YA rom-com that’s got plenty of charm and heartfelt magic, but it never quite ignited into something unforgettable. The whole rivals-to-romance vibe—two senior witches, Lily and Chrys, hexing each other over a cute new guy while secretly falling for each other instead—is adorable and full of snarky banter, and I absolutely ate up the small-town, Halloweeny atmosphere vibes. The supernatural sibling rivalry turned reluctant teamwork to break a town-ruining curse gives it some actual emotional stakes. But parts of the story felt a bit predictable, and while the slow-burn was sweet, it didn’t quite leave me reeling—more like a cozy fall read than a swoon-worthy standout. Solidly three stars.

This book absolute perfection! I’m a huge fan of the “we’re going for the same guy but ooops we fell for each other instead” trope. It hits every single time. Thornhaven was a dreamy setting, and Lily and Chrys were SO FUN! Rivals to lovers is the best.

In this YA Witchy Sapphic romance, Two rivals have to put their differences aside to help stop a curse from getting out of hand and attack their town.
I thought this was really cute, I love their rivalry and it definitely screams high school. It was fun to see them get through their differences and become friends and realize their feeling for each other.
I wish it was talked about more why their families were rivals, I feel like they just dropped the information and sped past it.
The only thing that I didn’t like was it seemed like Lily was mean for no good reason. The whole reasoning for her not liking Chrys and becoming enemies and turning everyone against her was kinda childish specially seeing as Chrys just moved and was trying to just fit in with everyone else.
Thank you Holiday House and NetGalley for letting me read a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.

4.5 stars | a cute YA witchy sapphic romance | 1/3 spice, 0.5/3 violence, profanity, no trigger warnings that I could think of | easy writing style, awesome setting, and hot girls

Lily Allerton, the popular girl, and Chrysanthemum Quinn, the lone wolf, have hated each other since Chrys moved to the quaint, witch-filled town of Thornhaven three years ago. They’ve engaged in constant, silent competition, over grades, science fairs, and even a boy; but no longer. When two simultaneous hexes get out of control, the girls wake something that can only be stopped by the ones responsible for creating it. So Lily and Chrys, reluctantly, choose to work together to stop the thing that far overshadows their feud; but as they work towards defeating this dark force, together they realize that maybe they aren’t so different after all…

First off, I loved Chrysanthemum (furthermore known as Chrys in this review) soooooooo much. Like, Lily was nice, although I sort of liked her the less we got into the book which wasn’t the goal, I still liked her just not as much as the beginning but whatever, but like Chrys was just sooooo much better. She was hotter (in my head I guess but still), nicer (goth girl didn't indicate mean girl and I love that for her), and more relatable (a few close friends and no others + books; reminds me a little of myself lol). She was a lot better than Lily in my opinion.
I did like Lily, as I said, and the tarot card thing was a nice plot point (until the end but I’ll touch on that later), I just liked Chrys more.
Okay and their relationship was so cute!!! It was truly enemies-to-lovers, and like the constant tension was just so perfect. Lily realizing that she likes girls while Chrys simultaneously reignites feelings for Lily, and they both have no idea about the other??!!
In love with them.

The end.
It was pretty good, satisfying enough, BUT, the tarot cards. I’m not going to spoil it, but what happened there with Lily and Chrys and whatever unrelated to the main conflict was not my favorite. Like, I get that they themselves needed conflict, I understand that, but this particular conflict felt so forced. And while it was tying up a loose end rather than having nothing to stand on (which I do appreciate) it still just felt too quick, and I just don’t think it quite fit as well into the story.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC.
For some reason I thought this was a NA book instead of a YA one, so it was a bit different than I expected.
I did really like the two main characters and enjoyed that it was dual POV. I liked getting the story from both of their perspectives.
The romance was very cute, very good enemies to lovers slow burn, even if the enemies was definitely a teenage version of enemies.

I was surprisingly disappointed in this one. The title, premise, and cover all made me think I would love this story, but it just didn't work for me. The sheer amount of parentheses just read as poor writing and there were many sentence fragments. It made the story read as much younger than our characters are supposed to be. It felt very 2-dimensional and was just distracting to read because of the writing style.

I love the name Chrysanthemum purely for the nostalgia of me reading that book as a kid. I really liked her character too, I just wish we got as much back story for her as we did with Lily. I really enjoyed Lily’s character development & I was happy to see her change how she felt about Chrys. I really felt for her when we learned why she was so obsessed with being good at everything. Chrys’ & Lily’s relationship was cute & I think the author really did a good job capturing the excitement & awkwardness of a new relationship when you’re a teenager.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this ARC!
This was really cute!! A sapphic, YA witchy romcom 🙌
Lily is on track to be valedictorian of her class. She is already student body president, but nothing is enough for her parents' approval or attention. And her nemesis, Chrysanthemum, is so far under her skin she can't help but obsess over her downfall. When she does a tarot reading for her senior year, her (mis) interpretation of the reading is the catalyst for so much change.
Chrysanthemum is looking forward to senior year being over so she can start working again and earning money. She has a couple of friends, but they're not witches so she can't fully be herself with them. And Lily Allerton is determined to annoy her. When their tension escalates to hexes and a townwide curse, they wind up coming together in more ways than one.

this is one of the best enemies to lovers book i’ve read. chrys and lily i will always think about you!!! genuinely so good i could not put it down!!! definitely read this when it comes out in october !!!

Sweet and cozy. the pacing of the story was a bit off for me but overall I thought it was a nice cozy fantasy story

Sapphic enemies-to-lovers with a mix of magic? Yes PLEASE. I drank this up like the first pumpkin spice latte of the fall season and only wanted another mug-full. This was charming, heartwarming, and full of fun.
