This was such a cute read. I was a little confused as to where this romance story would unfold. I wish the first encounter of the main characters had started, but I loved how we got to learn about each character. It is a great story about the start of a very promising romantic relationship.

Short, sweet, and spicy.
What more could you want?
I love these novellas. Forced proximity is my favorite trope and I loved seeing it here after our MCs had their one-night-stand.
The narration was great!

I really enjoyed this 831 novella! Sexy, spicy chemistry with two main characters I was rooting for from start to finish. I only wish it had been longer so I could have experienced more of the evolution of the relationship. Thank you S&S audio and 831 for my copy.

Loved this novella! There’s two in the series so far and I didn’t read the first one but I was able to follow everyone just fine. A little bit to spice. Some real life. And a happy ending. Love it!
Thank you NetGalley, Alexandra Romanoff and S&S Audio for the ARC!

cute! i had no idea this was the second in the series? i don’t think that really affected my experience. i enjoyed it, the story is packed with emotion. i am really becoming a fan of these 831 stories. cassidy and leon are super cute and their dynamic reminds me of the movie set it up. classic enemies to lovers! oh and the narration is great i really liked the pacing.
thank you netgalley and 831 for the audio arc!

This was my second 831 romance, and I enjoyed it as much as the first. Kind of the perfect formula for an easy romance. Spicy scene at 10% so you don't have to wait too long LOL. Adult issues and realistic relationships BUT still light and fun. The breakup can't last long because it is short! I really enjoyed both the FMC and MMC and the friend and the backstory of the relationship. Audiobook is excellent! Thank you to A&E Titles, S&S Audio and NetGalley for the advanced copy and the opportunity to share my review.

831 stories you never fail to bring us the best stories about love! We adored Square Waves!! Alexandra brought an insight to a character who I believe many women can relate too, but also gave us a love story of hope and possibilities. Cassidy is just a woman who made a mistake in her early 20s and is now starting over, but is not easy with those past indiscretion affecting her. Adding in a past rival from her chi8ldhood to be her love interest and someone who can see past her mistakes and support and lover her for who she is and not what the world thinks, I think is refreshing!

Holy cow this was phenomenal! I could NOT stop listening to this - I usually have a hard time with audiobooks but I was LOCKED IN. The narrator was fabulous and I really felt she was the perfect Cassidy.
The story - SO well-written and just a true emotional and self-reflective gut punch that was perfectly packaged into a novella. And the spice was just right for this story and its length.
This enemies-to-lovers romance not only featured this trope with the FMC and the MMC, but the FMC also went through an enemies-to-lovers journey with her own self, and I thought that was really amazing and important to see exemplified. I loved everything about Square Waves so so much! Justice for Cassidy: served!
I could not wait to get my hands on the physical copy and went to the release event in LA - also an amazing experience! @831storieshq always throws the coolest events && I highly recommend checking them out if you can!
Thank you 831 Stories and NetGalley for the ALC.

🩷Square Waves, An 831 Stories Romance by Alexandra Romanoff and Narrated by Mollie Stark
The narrator was fabulous! I am not familiar with this narrator, but she did an excellent job.
Alexandra Romanoff - not sure if I’ve read any of her books before - but she is excellent too!
Cassidy is lost. She needs a reprieve and heads “home” from the east coast to the west coast. After her arrival, Cassidy runs into her high school rival at the bar. What could possibly go wrong when she goes home with her high school nemesis after a few drinks?! I mean, it seems like a whole bunch went right?! 😜
During this reprieve, Cassidy reconnects with her high school BFF and discovers that Leon (the nemesis) is actually much different than she had always thought.
This was a short, sweet novella with a few heavy topics and a lot of sizzle. 🔥🔥
Recommend! So cute! Just like Leon.
Thank you to NetGalley and AE Titles / S&S Audio for this sweet novella in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rounding to 5️⃣ 🤩😍

These little novellas are pretty much perfection. So much depth and story into so few pages, yet the characters and plot feel fully fleshed out. And tackles some real issues to boot! The tension and the breaking of the tension was SO GOOD — no notes.

I’ve loved every book from this publisher. Square Waves is my favorite so far. I will be recommending this one!

this was such a cute short story! I would have loved this to have been longer and fleshed out but still so good. great palette cleanser! down to read anything this publishing house drops!!!

These 831 Stories are so good. I’ve enjoyed all the others I read so far and this is no exception. There is so much packed into this one small book - high school nemisis to lovers, forced proximity, starting over at 28, dealing with grief and shame and powerful men in politics. The writing and the storytelling are fantastic. You’ll feel like you read 500 pages but it’s around 200 instead. It’s emotional, character driven and just really good.
Thanks to NetGalley for the audio! I’ve already added the paperback to my shelf

While I liked the first novella in this series, I liked this one even more! I really felt for Cassidy as someone who is also feeling really stuck and burnt out in their career. It’s crazy how much was fit into such a short story without everything feeling too rushed (although I would have also read a 300 page version as well). This novella was so much more than a romance too. The friendship between Willa and Cassidy as well as Cassidy trying to get her life back together really added to the storyline.
Also, the narrator was really good which always adds so much to the story and audiobook experience.
My only problem with this story was that Cassidy was so quick to get frustrated with Leon without letting him explain things. She would then realize she reacted too quickly and apologize, and this happened many times throughout the book. I get that she was scared of starting a new relationship and was finding any reason for it not to work out, but it still made me mad.

📚Square Waves by Alexandra Romanoff
(Justice for Cassidy)
🎤Mollie Stark
SOLO NARRATION
4.25 ⭐
This is my second 831 short story & I have been blown away at how well these novellas are written & performed. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Not only were the story & characters flushed out, but the solo narration performance from Mollie Stark blew me away. She is SO TALENTED, easy to listen to & captivating.
Square Waves follows Cassidy, who apparently makes an appearance in a previous story, but it is NOT NECESSARY to have read that to understand what is going on with her in this book. Cassidy has taken a short leave from her non-profit job. She returns home to the west coast with the hopes of figuring out what her next step is going to be in life. Her job has been very fulfilling, but she's feeling like it's time to move onto something new.
Shortly after arriving home she runs into an old classmate, Leon, more of a HS rival really. Despite the fact these two seemed to hate each other in HS, they strike up a conversation & sparks begin to fly almost instantly.
Over the next 3 weeks, Cassidy begins to reconnect with her family, friends, Leon & starts to heal some wounds that have lingered far too long. As Cassidy & Leon begin to reconnect, she opens up to him & a trust begins to form between the two. They share feelings about the past, feelings about their future & what once hurt begins to recover.
I loved Cassidy & Leon's story. Two people who are able to set aside past mistakes & move forward. This book is absolutely perfect for someone who is looking for a quick read that has an HEA, some depth & backstories that make these characters really interesting.
🎧Let's talk audio: What really made this novella a stand-out for me was the performance from Mollie. Pulling off a solo narration is no easy feat & I was completely charmed by Mollie & hung onto every word she spoke. She voices so many different characters, both male & female, in this book with perfect precision & every emotion attached to what they are experiencing. She's been an upcoming favorite of mine but this novella just solidified why she's a rising star in narration. I absolutely recommend this audio.
This was a terrific novella. It's heartfelt & full of depth. There's pining, longing, forgiveness & steam. From their first initial reconnection, I was totally invested in these two characters. Their chemistry was instant & hot but even more so, it was wonderful watching them grow together overcoming feelings about the past. I can't wait to read another 831 story!
Thank you to Alexandra Romanoff, 831 Stories, AE Titles and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this audio. All thoughts are my own.

Square Waves is a lovely expansion on the Big Fan universe, and Romanoff has mastered the formula for a short, sweet, and spicy romance novel.
Square Waves follows Cassidy, who made a brief appearance towards the end of Big Fan, as she takes a short sabbatical from her job as she returns home to the west coast to figure out her future and career goals. Shortly after arriving, she runs into her old high school rival Leon, and sparks fly. Over the next three weeks, Cassidy’s journey allows her to reconnect with her parents, Leon, and other high school friends, help her community, and heal her inner child.
What I liked about Square Waves is that it follows the same style of Big Fan while still being its own story. Moving the setting from DC to the Bay Area definitely switched up the vibe, and the story is a lot less political. While I personally enjoyed Big Fan and its protagonists’ romantic journey more, the change of pace moving forward to Square Waves was refreshing. I also love that Cassidy, who could easily be seen as an antagonist in Big Fan, is given her moment to shine and is never villainized (both in Square Waves and Big Fan).
The audiobook was very well produced. I loved the way that narrator Mollie Stark embodied Cassidy’s personality, and her vocal choices for the other characters kept me immersed in the story. It’s a very easy listen, and I love that having this audiobook adds more accessibility to the Big Fan universe.
I’d recommend Square Waves to romance lovers who want a quick, cute, and satisfying read. I also think it would be a good option for those readers who are less familiar or new to the romance genre looking for a low-time-commitment, lighthearted read. Thank you to AE Titles/S&S Audio/831 Stories for providing me with an ALC via NetGalley.

Every single one of these short stories are so frickin good! I get so excited when I see there’s a new one. I think this may be my favorite one so far. They always have such relatable topics. I listened to this one and I really enjoyed the narrator.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this 🎧 ARC.

Square Waves is my favorite 831 Stories release since Big Fan, which might mean I’m more of an Alexandra Romanoff fan than a true 831 Stories devotee. It’s still fairly surface level (as the format tends to be), but it delivers exactly what it promises: a quick, fun, and engaging listen that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

I listened to the first book, Big Fan, in the series, and I enjoyed it. I was excited when I saw that Book Two was available.
Cassidy turned the worst time of her life into a career. As a result of this mistake, she was bullied on social media. Now, she is working with non-profit organizations on anti-bullying initiatives. She returned to her hometown, where she reconnects with old friends
I enjoyed the narration! The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life and immersing me in the story. I enjoyed watching Cassidy navigate her life and figure out what is next. This felt very relatable. I wish it were longer; this would have allowed the characters to be more developed

Thank you to #NetGalley and #831Stories for an advance listening copy of #SquareWaves. A young woman goes viral after an affair with a senator. Four stars.
