A new author for me but I'll certainly be looking out for more. I was hooked right from page one and finished it in two sittings. Highly recommended, I just couldn't put it down.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review

This book had me hooked from the beginning! This was a fast paced thriller and I flew through it. I don’t want to give spoilers about any part of the plot, but I would definitely recommend picking this book up!

The Second Honeymoon by McGarvey Black, was a book that just had you dripped from the very beginning till the very end. It was full of brilliant twists and turns throughout that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and will have you turning the pages over to find out what happens next.

Great read!! Becca and Andre are happily married on the surface and for their tenth wedding anniversary, Andre has organised a cruise. However, the day after they return from their second honeymoon, Becca goes missing, or did she go missing before?
Although it's a little slow to start because the author is setting the scene, it's absolutely brilliant and I couldn't put it down! Thanks to Net galley for the advanced copy

A fast paced thriller with some pretty unlikeable characters! The story can be a far fetched at times but that just adds to the plot.

Black's back! This is the second book I've read by her, the first being Trust Only Me.

The other half's always going on about wanting to go on a cruise...is he trying to tell me something?

Filled with twists and revelations, the plot took me on on a roller-coaster ride to hell and back with Andre and Becca. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

Narrated from the POV of both Becca and Andre - both great characters - it allowed me to build the bigger picture in my mind, make my own judgements and theories.

Fast, frantic and thoroughly enjoyable.

Wow! This book is excellent. Great plot and relatable characters. Becca's husband of 10 years surprises her with a luxury cruise even buying her clothes and designer sunglasses to wear. They seem so in love until suddenly Andre lifts her and flips her overboard. At this point you're reading saying WTF just happened? Then we go back to Andre's narrative and realise he's planned her murder all along. He has his new girlfriend pretend to be Becca until they're safely home then he concocts a bullshit story about how she left him. Except he didn't account for Stella or the wee lady Olive on board the cruise ship. The ending!! Epic!! This is great.
Easy to read, pacy and sometimes the good guys win in the end. I've told you enough spoilers but not them all.
Loved this! Thanks you to the author, NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC and a lovely few hours on my sofa on a Sunday afternoon hoping Andre would be caught. D xX

From the very first page, The Second Honeymoon had that creeping sense of unease I love to see in a good psychological thriller, the kind where something feels off, even when everything looks picture perfect.

I was immediately pulled into the story of Becca and Andre, who set off on what’s supposed to be a romantic anniversary cruise: a “second honeymoon” to rekindle their marriage after some rocky years. On the surface, it all seems perfect. Andre pulls out all the stops: the surprise, the ocean views, shopping, the thoughtful details. I found myself smiling right along with Becca, until the slow dread started to creep in.

One thing I absolutely loved was that this book did not rely on cheap thrills. Instead, the author built suspense brick by brick with precision through emotional misdirection, character, mood, and emotional stakes. Becca’s struggle with fibromyalgia and how that invisible illness affected her relationship felt painfully real. I connected with her so deeply and rooted for her from the very beginning.

The reveal of Andre’s plan: to murder his wife and run off with his girlfriend Lily, made my stomach drop. There’s something especially chilling about a villain who hides behind charm and tenderness, and Andre wears that mask terrifyingly well. The “no body, no crime” logic, the way he feigns grief? Sickening.

I loved the dual POV structure. His lies, her quiet strength, and the psychological cat and mouse game that unfolds as the truth inches close made the story all the more interesting.

If you enjoy twisty emotionally layered psychological thrillers, then this should be a really good pick.

The Second Honeymoon by McGarvey Black is a dark, fast-paced, and wildly unpredictable ride from start to finish. Packed with relentless action and shocking turns, the story grips you tighter with every chapter. Black masterfully weaves a twisted plot full of unique and unexpected moments that keep you on edge, questioning what could possibly happen next. Disturbing yet captivating, it’s the kind of book that’s impossible to set aside—equal parts chilling and addictive, and brilliantly executed right up to its final page.

This book was one of a kind I seem to read often but I’m never blown away by them. Not exactly chick lit but more chick thrill.
The story started well with great pace and not too many characters to get to know. There are thrills and some twists but overall I think it just ran out of steam by the end and the conclusion was weak.

Becca’s husband plans a cruise for their tenth anniversary. But he has a secret. He’s planning on killing her.
This thriller kept me wanting to read late into the night to see what was going to happen. Very well written! Filled with secrets, lies and our favorite, revenge!
5 stars!

The Second Honeymoon by McGarvey Black is a twisty, fast-paced thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. From the very first chapters, there’s an undercurrent of unease that builds with every page as secrets start to surface and relationships begin to unravel. The story blends romance, suspense, and mystery in a way that feels fresh and addictive. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another reveal would catch me off guard. McGarvey Black does a great job of balancing emotional tension with a strong plot, making this an entertaining and unpredictable read. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

A very quick read. Great premise that's well written. Not a lot of surprises though. Very satisfying ending! This takes place over a few years. I started to lose interest during the trial which is the only reason this doesn't get 5 stars. I thought the multiple POV chapters worked very well here. I wish we had more from the detective. Definitely recommend this one.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for granting me an ARC of The Second Honeymoon.

I cannot put into words how much I loved this book. Definitely in my top 5 for the year! My first by this author, now off to check out everything else!

I did feel you needed to suspend belief slightly to enjoy this, it is not the book for you if you like everything 100% realistic. But I don’t care, I loved it.

A brilliantly written, easy read that kept me turning pages well into the night!

It's our tenth anniversary.... and my husband is planning to kill me.

He's planned the perfect cruise - and the perfect murder. His new girlfriend (my replacement) is waiting in the wings. Our luxury cruise ship sails from Florida. Its destination - paradise. A surprise gift from Andre. Our first proper vacation in five years. A second honeymoon. He's bought me the perfect outfit. The champagne is flowing. Everything is going to plan. Andre's plan. He thinks he'll get away with it. But he doesn't know what i'm capable of. Not yet.

Becca's husband, Andre, takes her on a cruise for their 10th anniversary. But who, if any of them survive?

The story is told from Becca, Stella and Andre's perspectives. The tension is unrelenting and we get some twists in this easy to read mystery. The characters you'll either love or hate. The plot is quite clever. The pace is perfectly set.

The ending was Perfect. Thank you again.

Black delivers psychological tension in silky layers, each chapter uncorks fresh dread. The luxury cruise setting is deceptively tranquil, concealing calculated betrayal.
