I have read Kristen Bailey's two previous Christmas rom-coms and loved them! This was a hilarious vacation-themed rom-com. I loved that the two MCs were teachers, and I found the banter and competition within the foreign languages department cute and fun (French vs. Spanish). The trope of "meeting while on vacation and giving fake names" is never my favourite, because you are just waiting for the reveal and the mistrust, but in this case it was mutual, and the reunion was pretty funny. I felt like this one was a bit spicier and the humour was a bit more crass than I remember the Christmas ones being, but that could also just be the British humour.

Hot to Go by Kristen Bailey

My sincere thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read Hot to Go. I give my unbiased opinion of it in the following review.

Suzie is having a rough go of it. She has learned that her husband has been cheating on her. She goes along with her cousins for a getaway to Mallorca where she meets Charlie while in a compromising position. Both Charlie and Suzie pretend to be someone they are not and have a sizzling day together. Circumstances cause them to miss their meet-up the next day and both think the opportunity for something more is lost. Imagine their surprise when they both start new teaching jobs and their classrooms are right next to each other in the language department. Can the lies they started out with be forgotten and the connection they felt turn into something more?

I have always enjoyed Kristen Bailey's humor and the way she writes character connection. This book was a little chaotic at the beginning, but it evolved, and we start to learn more about the characters, especially Charlie. I loved the dual points of view. Both Charlie and Suzie want more than a fling and I enjoyed their journey. I look forward to what Kristen Bailey has coming up next.

This book had me laughing out loud and giggling several times. I’m not normally a romcom reader but thoroughly enjoyed this book. The perfect piece of escapism while on holiday.

Hot to Go, by Kristen Bailey, is a good one! This rom-com is built around fun characters, whose banter kept the story lighthearted and laughable at times. This is a great summer beach read.
I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC ebook that I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

I thought this was enormous fun. Yes it is predictable but it is extremely enjoyable. The characters were interesting and the plot had enough in it to hold attention. Would recommend.

Hot To Go by Kristen Bailey was a good one! I loved this book! This story hooked me from the start with the characters and writing.
The characters were so much fun, and their chemistry was adorable.
I thought the writing was quick, fun and engaging.
Overall, I very much enjoyed reading this new title.

This book just didn’t work for me. It was way too British… so much slang and regional phrasing that I constantly found myself pulled out of the story, struggling to figure out what was being said. That made it tough to stay engaged.

Pacing was another issue. The story moved incredibly slowly, and I kept skipping around hoping it would pick up. It never really did. I just wanted the plot to get somewhere, but it felt stuck in place for long stretches.

On a more positive note, the characters were decent, and I was glad they found love in the end; but that wasn’t enough to redeem it for me. I wouldn’t recommend this book, and I definitely won’t be re-reading it.

this was.... okay. a little bit boring and hard to get into, especially when both povs sound the same. even the paragraphs of inner monologues are structured the same way, and no two people think exactly the same.

there was certainly an effort to make the writing sound comedic and, while it worked sometimes, there were occasions when it just made me cringe and it felt a bit forced.

as for the rom part of the rom com, i couldn't really feel the chemistry between the characters. it happened. they hooked up. then they met up again. then this. then that. it felt very factual, a sequence of events on a timeline, and it didn't click with me.

📚Book Review📚
Book: Hot To Go

Hot to Go is a funny, light-hearted summery romance between Suzie and Charlie and I can’t recommend it enough. The banter throughout the entire book was perfection - I actually found myself giggling out loud while reading. In addition to the romance, the author really focused on their families which gave each character a lot of depth.

This is my first book by Kristen Bailey, but I found out that there are other books that follow the other sister’s mentioned in the book and I am definitely going to be giving those a read.

Thank you very much to Kristen Bailey, Net Galley, and Storm Publishing for this ARC.

This is a great summer, pool day read! The vibes are hot, and the story was great! Really spicy, very funny, a great romcom!

This was a cute, enjoyable summer read that isn't shy with its liberaly sprinkling of spice and had humour from secondary characters that made me giggle.

The Gist - Suzie and Charlie have a hot and heavy meet up under false names while vacationing in Mallorca. When they next see each other, it's in the staff room at the high school where they're both starting new jobs. Awk-ward!

My Thoughts: This is a fun read to take on your next hot destination vacation!

Spice - If you love spice then you'll love that this story wastes no time jumping into the deep end of the spice pool!! Suzie and Charlie go from zero to horny very early on. But I had just met these two characters, so I was left feeling like I was told about the emotional connection instead of witnessing it develop on the page.

Ahhh, l'amour! - Fans of languages will enjoy the Spanish and French phrases that are added liberally to the dialogue! This Canadian had no problem with the French on the pages, but I had to use my Kindle's translation feature for some of the Spanish phrases since they aren't all explained to the reader.

Family Ties - Suzie and Charlie were cute, but my favourite part of this book was the family bonds. Suzie's cousins - particularly Lucy added great banter and I love how Suzie and Charlie's families always had their backs.

This is a light, escapist, feel-good summery read. While I had hoped for a bit more tension and depth in the couple and build up to the spice, I enjoyed the tropical locale, second chance romance and cheeky humour.

After leaving her cheating husband and moving to London, French teacher Suzie is ready for a new start. Off on vacation to Mallorca with her cousins, she meets the most handsome man who says he’s local and his name is Carlos. They share a hot and wild week together after she tells him her name is Auralie and that she’s a French tourist knowing they’ll never see each other again.

Too bad when she gets home, Carlos turns out to be Charlie, the new Spanish teacher at her new school. Can the two of them fight their attraction to each other and possibly fate pushing them together?

Omg y’all. This book is freaking hilarious. I laughed through the whole thing. Charlie and Suzie’s banterous chemistry will leave you hot and bothered in a spicy yet hysterical way as their chemistry becomes impossible to resist.

Hot to Go released yesterday and you definitely don’t want to miss it. Thank you so much @netgalley and @kristenbaileywrites for the advanced copy.

Charlie Carter and Suzie Callaghan stood open mouthed, wanting the floor to open up and swallow them, she was the new French teacher and he was the new Spanish teacher, but that wasn't the first time that they had met and their names were Aurelie and Carlos.
Heartbroken Suzie had left her home in Brighton and her husband of two years, after discovering that he had been cheating on her every Tuesday with a redhead from the gym, she had relocated to London where her five cousins had helped her get a job and settle in to a new apartment. The cousins. Emma, Beth, Lucy, Grace and Meg were going to Mallorca to celebrate the eldest cousin, Meg's, fortieth birthday, they had all insisted that Suzie joins them.............this is where the hilarity starts. I laughed out loud when the girls looked round the beautiful, secluded Spanish villa and when Meg ranted on the phone to her husband because he booked it, I laughed at the skinny dipping incident where Suzie, in a panic that the police were there, gets separated from the girls and her clothes and ends up in a stilted, half French, half Spanish conversation with a handsome Spaniard, too embarrassed to give their proper names she said that she was French and her name was Aurelie, he said that he was Spanish and his name was Carlos.
When Charlie's parents had died, he had decided to take on the parental roll to his younger siblings, Max, Brook and Sam, now he was in Mallorca on Max's stag do and had come face to face with a naked French mermaid.
Things hot up very quickly between Aurelie and Carlos, their chemistry is off the charts but what happens when they find themselves back in London teaching at the same school, can they stay detached ? all bets are off when they end up sharing a room on a school trip to Saville.
This is a great story, although a tad too long for me, I loved all the characters, I loved the banter and the cousins witty retorts were priceless, although the story is witty it also has some emotional elements which gives it balance, I will definitely look out for the next Kristen Bailey book
Thank you Storm Publishing and Net Gallery for this ARC, my review is totally voluntary

This was slow paced but I enjoyed the romance and humor in this book. I also liked the sisterhood among Suzie and her cousins and how Charlie was a responsible adult with his siblings.

However, the ending was too abrupt, we didn’t get to know what happened with Paul and the third act break up was really unnecessary .

Thank you Netgalley and the author for this Arc

I’ve read several of Kristen Bailey’s books and every one of them has been an absolute tonic. What an incredible talent she has for laugh out loud, sexy, romantic stories with adorable characters that make my heart fill with joy. Hot to Go is no exception. I love love love Charlie and Suzie. Their story grabbed me from the start and never let go until the final word.
There’s an honesty and authenticity to Bailey’s writing about relationships that makes me chuckle wryly whilst also misting up a bit at the conundrums the characters face. This one had some twists I hadn’t anticipated, which added to the pleasure.
Just wonderful. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read Hot to Go in exchange for an honest review.

Love love love this! I adore all of Kristen’s books - they are funny and clever and a little bit cringey as Kristen shines a light on the ordinariness of everyday love - as she creates a heartwarming romance between two of the most lovely people.

Told in dual POV, in five parts, Suzie and Charlie meet in Mallorca, but before we get to that, we start with some excruciating sex between Suzie and her soon-to-be ex husband on a hot hot summer afternoon. This sets the scene, showing (vividly) the shortcomings of that relationship. When Paul is caught out cheating, that's the end of that.

On a family holiday to get away, Suzie meets Charlie (‘Carlos’). They have a strong spark and quickly fall into bed. It’s holidays though, so after some lies and a no-show, they leave it in Mallorca. Once back in London, they find themselves teaching at the same school, and from there it's them navigating their histories and responsibilities, getting to know one another, settling into their new jobs and dealing with all the tricky things that happen around them. It’s funny and vivid and clever and I loved every word. Kristen describes all the urban summer moments – no air-con, the ice-cream van on a sticky hot day, the shenanigans of teenagers on a school trip, and best of all the strong connection between Suzie and Charlie, genuinely liking each other, as they fall in love. Adorable!

Content warning though - it's very British humour – chaotic and untidy and awkward, and much steamier than Kristen's early books - so delicious!

Thank you Storm Publishing and Kristen Bailey for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

This just didn't work for me. I found a lot of it reallu cringey - especially how Charlie and his friends and Suzie and her cousins talk to each other. The student/teacher dynamics were unbelievable (as a teacher!) and there was just too much of it. The romance was just okay.

This is my second book by this author and I just don't think her writing is for me.

Chappell Roan inspired title ✅
Cover art that absolutely made me want to read this on my beach vacation ✅

What happens on vacation doesn’t always stay on vacation! That’s exactly what happened to the main characters Suzie and Charlie. Only they introduce themselves as Aurelie and Carlos, hoping for a little anonymous fun on vacation never expecting to see each other again. So imagine their surprise when they go back to work and find out they are both new teachers starting the year at the same school. What ensues is a hilariously sweet good time.

This is the first ever novel I have read by Kristen Bailey and it will definitely not be the last. Her writing is hilarious, fast paced, and sincere/heart felt. I laughed out loud so many times reading this and loved the family dynamics. I appreciated the dual POV. So many moments had me giggling and kicking my feet, i’m always a sucker for the one bed trope 🤭

I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves wacky rom coms, amazing travel locations, and great banter!

After the first 10-15% of this book, I loved how fast it took off. While at first it seemed like the typical romance where they meet on vacation and run into each other again, it was so much more than that. This book had my jaw on the floor with the twists and I just had to know if the characters would end up together in the end or where the story would be taking them next.

Thank you to NetGalley, author Kristen Bailey, and Storm Publishing for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book had me cackling with happy tears in my eyes. I haven't laughed this much reading a book in a long time. Kristen Bailey is a romantic comedy queen. The story and characters she created were entertaining yet relatable. Not only were the main characters fantastic but the supporting characters were great too. All the shenanigans these characters got into while on vacation had me hooked and highly entertained. I loved the dual POV, it's always nice to get the insight and inner monologue from the MCs.

Suzie desperately needs a getaway after a bad break-up. What better time than her summer break? She goes to Spain to blow off steam and live her best summertime life with her cousins.

Carlos aka Charlie is just all sorts of swoony. He's the sexy Spaniard of our dreams...or is he? Also coming out of a break-up he goes on a trip to Spain with his little brother's bachelor trip and his friends. I love that he loves to spontaneously break out and dance, he has the best personality.

Their meet-cute is just hilarious and the best. The banter between these two characters was so good. With guaranteed laughs and an HEA, this was the perfect summertime read.

With the vacation destinations and spice, this is easily the best summer romance I've read in a long time. You'll be melting from the heat and your heart will be melting from the romance. *fanning self*
