This was such a fun and feel-good read, packed with humor, heart, and just the right touch of romance. The characters felt lively and relatable, each bringing their own quirks and charm to the story. I loved the playful banter moments that kept the tone light, while still weaving in more heartfelt, emotional beats that gave it depth.

The holiday setting added an extra layer of coziness and escapism, making it the kind of story you can curl up with and easily get lost in. While some parts were a little predictable, the energy, warmth, and character chemistry more than made up for it.

A solid 4 stars funny, heartwarming, and the perfect pick-me-up read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC of this novel. With the current heat wave in my hometown, it turned out to be the perfect summer read! Published on July 18, 2025, this charming romance captures all the warmth and sparkle of a sun-soaked holiday.

The story follows two twenty-something Londoners: Suzie, a newly single French teacher on a girls’ getaway to Mallorca with her cousins, and Charlie, a Spanish teacher visiting the island for his brother’s stag party. When their paths cross, sparks fly, leading to a whirlwind holiday romance—only for them to unexpectedly reunite as new colleagues at the same school back in London.

Bailey delivers a delightful blend of humor, heart, and sizzling chemistry. I loved the well-drawn characters, the believable relationships, and the strong family bonds that gave the story extra depth. It’s the kind of book that makes you smile from start to finish.

A truly fun, feel-good summer read that’s as refreshing as a cool drink on a hot day. Highly recommended!

What happens in Mallorca does not stay in Mallorca, it follows Suzy and Charlie back to London, to the same department at school.

What follows is continued sizzling interest, but has to be navigated around complex secrets and obligations.

I loved Charlie, he was super nice and kind. Suzy has been hurt and has a lot to work through and she knows it, but she's strong enough. I loved the various locations where the story plays out. I loved Suzys cousins and the kids at school. Just overall this was a nice, fell good story with lol moments and real heartache.

I do feel like this book will be good for some but for me I just had to DNF after 3 weeks of barely making progress I am giving up. I think having a spicy chapter straight off the bat was not for me and just made me loose interest straight away.

Thank you so much for this opportunity and I’m sorry it was not for me

Imagine coming home from vacation thinking you'll never see your hot fling again and then you run into him at your new job. Yikes! This one was cute and fun - truly enjoyed it!

I had such a great time reading this book! It pulled me in right from the start and kept me turning the pages. The writing flowed so well, and I found myself completely invested in the story and characters. It’s one of those reads you just don’t want to put down.
huge thanks to the publisher for sending me an early copy!! I’m so glad I got to read it ahead of the release day and can't wait for the world to get to enjoy it too!!

Meh. This was reasonably enjoyable, but lacked any kind of character development or strong storyline. I get it's supposed to be a light and fluffy summer read about a couple who meet on holiday and then meet again back home in London but....This just lacked the charm of other books I've read by Kristen Bailey. A lot of the conversations and situations just felt very staged, very cliche and cringe. And while I can take a certain amount of fluff and fun I need something more substantial at times to fill out the story. It's attempted, certainly, as Suzie and Charlie come from similar backgrounds with no living parents, but the backstory felt forced to me and I just couldn't get myself to feel anything for these characters and their relationship.

A fun read, but for me not all that memorable. I'll stick to Kristen Bailey Christmas books.

{ The mattress undulating up and down, the waves rolling in line with my spine, my arms firmly by my side.
‘I think it's too soft.”
I don't answer
‘No purchase, it needs to be firmer. Let me change position and see if it makes a difference.’
‘It won't. You're right, it's too soft. I'll do my back in on this,’ I say. I turn my face to the side to see an Asian family watching Lucy curiously as she bounces on the mattress like a cat. Probably not what IKEA anticipated when they invited us to try out their mattresses. But I guess they've never met my cousin.
‘You talk about your back like you're an old woman...’ }

Four locations. Three Reasons. Two hearts and One Epic Romance. Would you take the risk?

| Carlos, a local Spaniard and hero of damsels in distress by day, yoga teacher by trade, cool, confident, and knowledgeable in all things, is someone you wish to be. He speaks and knows all things Spanish; his muscles and smile are dangerous to fall for.

Unlike Charlie, a Spanish teacher who is literally running away from his old life, his old girlfriend, and a shocking event involving a sock! He had to move from his last home and his job to settle for one he found at the last moment. It was his brother's stag do, and he HAD to come and look after him because no one else would.
Cool, reliable Charlie. Always there if you need him.
No, nothing links these two men.

Aurelia, a rich daughter of a French champagne merchant who possibly owns a villa that has more secrets wrapped up inside its walls than you could possibly know about. Her beauty and confidence make her alluring and tempting.

Unlike Suzie, Plain Suzie, the woman who found out she was being cheated on through the local delivery guy. At her cousin's insistence, she followed them to Mallorca for a birthday frenzy of sun, sunscreen, and sunsets, obviously... and if anything else happens along the way..
All that waited for her back home was a job and the scattered remains of her old life she is trying hard to forget.
No, nothing links these two women.

But Mallorca, London, Seville, and Paris all have one thing in common: Love. Love can be found in all these places. As long as you don't allow outside noise inside or interfere with what fate has in store for you. |

From the moment I met Suzy, I loved her. And I knew from the first chapter that this author was going to be a new favorite of mine. I was drawn in straight away by Suzie and the heartbreak that awaited her, wanting to punch Paul in the goolies, or better yet, let Lucy at him.

Lucy was by far my favorite person, although Charlie and Suzy had my vote from the 'Skinny Dip.' I couldn't help but laugh and almost cry whenever she appeared in the book.
I feel really stupid because this book made me go through so many emotions all at once. I burst out laughing and had to explain myself to my daughter, who I made jump out of her skin.

The language, the camaraderie between the girls, reminded me instantly of what I'm like with my cousins. I felt that connection there, and I think if I had been in Lucy's situation, or one of my cousins had, I would have done the same for her as Suzy's cousins protected and kept her safe.

It made me laugh out loud, cry; I hated Charlie then loved him, and nearly stopped reading when Paul came into it—I WAS THAT INVESTED!

But it's okay. I like it when books look at reality and reflect it, and the reality is, sometimes things don't work out. This story offered that glimpse; it wasn't a simple hero bringing flowers and a maiden waiting on him to do that.
It felt like I was reading about real people going through shitty situations and getting tied in lots of examples of their life they had no way of explaining.

I loved it. Every. Single. Part.
And I'm buying a copy because I need to read it again, maybe when I'm on holiday next in Mallorca.

OHH CARLOSS.. 😘😂😍

From the first page, it had me hooked and making me laugh along the way.
This book was hilarious and had me giggling. . I loved how this book was written from both perspective from Susie and Charlie. I loved the dialogue from both. Plus with the references to France and Spanish and some of the language which I always love to read other languages. A brilliant Summer read.

Such a fun summer read! In this romantic comedy you get to know and love both Suzie and Charlie as life keeps bringing them together. This story was the perfect combination of comedy and romance while also touching on some very emotional topics. I love the support Suzie gets from all of her cousins and the magnetic pull she and Charlie have with each other. Well written and kept me wanting to pick it up, I highly recommend reading!

The perfect spicy romcom to kick off summer! This book is a fun, engaging read with memorable characters and a delightful plot. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and the witty banter keeps you hooked from beginning to end. If you're looking for an entertaining escape, this novel delivers.

I really liked the premise of this book but the pacing was off. It took me about 30% to get into the plot. After that, there were sections that I really enjoyed and others that felt a little forced. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

3.5 stars rounded down.

thank you to Storm Publishing and Netgalley for the eARC!!

I really enjoyed this story and I enjoyed reading this from start to finish. I loved Suzie and Charlie, both as individual characters, and their relationship together. I also really enjoyed the humor in the story as well, there were several times I caught myself giggling out loud.

there was a little bit of a learning curve for me to pickup and understand the British slang, but it was nothing too major. I also wished we got more time seeing Charlie and Suzie reuniting at the end, because we didn't get to see much of them at the end, the ending felt rushed and almost anticlimactic.

overall, though, I really enjoyed this book, the characters and the romance!

Hot to go

Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book!

I literally had the best time reading this book. On holiday, in the sun is really the perfect setting for this read!

Suzie and Charlie were perfect and I loved reading about their chemistry and all of the banter and fun they had together.

This book genuinely made me laugh out loud so so much and I was cracking up a throughout the whole thing. The first line of the book? Incredible.

I also really enjoyed all of the side characters. The cousins were fantastic, all of the teachers and their side plots/relationships, it was just lovely.

It’s really made me want to read more of Kristen Baileys work and I think I will be delving into her back catalogue of books!

Loved it, 5 stars 🌟

4 stars.
I loved this book and the energy it gave. The universe was truly working to make this couple work, and I believed every second of it. My main issue with this book is that we didn't get to see Suzie and Charlie have the big redeeming conversation at the end, but rather it jumped straight to the epilogue. I loved the writing style for the most part. The main thing that kept tripping me up is at moments when characters are talking in interdialogue, there is no clear break to signify that. For example, if Suzie were talking to Charlie and there was an inner thought, it would continue using "you" to refer to Charlie without a "she thought to herself" or something of that nature.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast-paced romance book with a very heavy theme of a super hot summer!

This is the first book I've read from Kristen Bailey and I enjoyed her writing style. This was a fast read for me and finished it in a day. I enjoyed seeing how both Suzie and Charlie initially met to then meet again at the new school they both start at. I enjoyed the romance and the twists and getting to know each character.

I found myself actually laughing out loud throughout this book! A bit long in parts but overall a cute book (and don't we all wish this happened on vacation!?)

OK. Before I start on this review, I will say I'm a big fan of Kristen Bailey, I've really REALLY enjoyed all the books I've read by her to date, they're really fun to read. I will also say, if you're new to her books, I would recommend picking a different one to start with.

Unfortunately I had a bit of a false start with this one. Very excited to get stuck in, I started well before the publishing date, and then a little reference less than 10% in caught me off guard and put me off reading any more. It took me a while to pick it up again, to be honest, as it put me off so much. And the only reason I didn't DNF there and then is because I am a fan of the author. When I did pick it up again, weeks later, I flew through, but I still can't get it out of my mind. The line I'm referencing here is about a chocolate sundae, which was described as a "one way stop to diabetes". We need to stop with ignorant sentences like this. One chocolate sundae does not induce diabetes, which is a hugely complex illness and is actually not caused by eating sugar. References like this in media reinforce stigma and spread misinformation. It might be something that a lot of people don't think about or think is a throwaway comment, but it's uninformed and needs calling out.

Back to the rest of the book - Suzie and her cousins are on holiday in Mallorca and she has a holiday romance with Carlos, who then disappears. Back in the UK, Carlos and Suzie meet again under different circumstances, can they reignite the spark they found in Mallorca?
I'm not a fan of misinformation, as I've detailed above, and it appears this extends to tropes! What I DID like about this book in particular is the references to characters from other Kristen Bailey books. I think she does this really well, you don't have to have read her other books to notice but for readers who are coming back these are like little Easter eggs. I find it so cute that she's built a little world for these characters. I am still looking forward to seeing which characters pop up in the next book, even though this isn't my favourite of her books so far. I also have more of her back catalogue to read, so will be picking more up before the next book!
A reluctant 3 stars for this one, 5 for everything else she's written!

Thanks to Netgalley, and the publisher, for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was only ok for me. I really, REALLY wanted to like it more, but it left something to be desired.

Don't get me wrong, the two main characters are both adorable in their own ways. And together they're extra adorable.

There was just something missing in the story that made it fall flat for me. Bummer.
