This book was such a delight! I’m a sucker for this kind of funny mystery type of story mixed with romance. The hijinks! The intrigue! The chemistry! And that pawn shop scene? Hilarious! Would definitely read an entire series of Wyatt Investigations books.

3.75/5 This was fun!
This reminded me a bit of The Blonde Identity series, so I would definitely recommend this book to fans of that series.
Sometimes, you accidentally get involved in a murder investigation...oopsies.
Our main character in this book, Emersyn, has a fake detective agency and it gets called upon to help solve an actual real-life murder. She also enlists the help of a very attractive stranger to be apart of this investigation as well. Emersyn has a lot going on in life, so why not add a murder investigation to the list?!
This was so much fun and so funny. I zoomed through it!
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! My Goodreads review is up and my TikTok (Zoe_Lipman) review will be up at the end of the month with my monthly reading wrap-up.

Definitely a slightly different read from Sarah Fox- but a delightful one nevertheless! Romance, murder, a bunch of busybody seniors- and a long forgotten speakeasy with it's secrets make for a fun read.
Emersyn is raising her niece and trying to piece her life together after the loss of her brother to cancer when a super in their building is found murdered in his office. She's forced to take on the case since not only her friendly neighbor but she as well are suspects in his death. With the help if her best friend, a genius teenager and a hot guy she just met (of course!) she is on a mission to clear her name and find a murderer.

The premise of this book sounded interesting, so I was so happy when NetGalley approved me to read it. I loved all the characters, so varied with a plot line that definitely rates a 10 on a scale for uniqueness. As cozy mysteries go, I found this one to be just right. Some romance with a solid mystery. I am looking forward to the next one in this series. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

I really wanted to love this book. The cover art is amazing and the premise sounds cute and fun. The problem is that it failed to really grab my attention and keep me interested in the mystery. The characters just felt a little flat to me, especially Emersyn. I tried to connect to her misfortunes but it was too much telling and not showing so I didn't really feel it.
The mystery itself was fun and kept me guessing, I guess I just need a bit more engagement with the characters to really take this to the next level.
Thank you for the ARC and opportunity to review the book.

Sarah Fox’s Definitely Maybe Not a Detective is a fun caper that keeps you guessing along the lines of “Murder in the Building.” There is a full cast of characters, a hint of drama, possibilities for romance and, of course, a murder. While the story was not necessarily compelling, it did hold my interest and had charming moments.

Definitely Maybe Not a Detective is a charming and humorous coze mystery that introduces a FMC who stumbles into solving crimes, often with unexpected results. Fox creates a vibrant setting and fills it with memorable individuals, making the world feel warm and inviting, even amidts a bit of mischief. The FMC is endearing, possessing a relatable blend of curiosity and reluctance as they navigate perplexing situations. The mystery itself is engaging, with enough twists to keep you guessing without ever becoming overly dark or complex. The writing style is witty and flows easily, ensuring a fun and breezy read. This book is perfect for readers who enjoy lighthearted mysteries and quirky characters and a touch of amateur sleuthing.
