I live in Minnesota so had high hopes for this book. Having been to a number of these locations, I was interested in the stories. However, I would have been better off just Googling the site and seeing if there were any urban legends mentioned. Unfortunately, the book did not hold my interest.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t read this all the way through. It’s like a big reference book- fun to flip through and see what catches your eye, but a bit exhausting all in one. Good coffee-table book! Some fun bits of local history, good range of locations!

Living in MN for most of my life I was immediately drawn to this book. As with most short story collections some are better than others. I will say that the quality is pretty steady throughout the book and there werent any stories that I didn't like. If you want a simple collection of ghost stories that are even cooler if you are familiar with the locations, then check this one out!

I DNF’d this book at 40% because sadly, I was expecting more from it. I really love a good ghost story, and was intrigued because this is a non-fiction book. Yes, this is a collection of ghost stories but I feel like too many stories are covered but there is no real depth to them. I feel it would have been better if a handful had been chosen and then the author had gone into further, deeper detail on each one. As it stands, this book feels like a ghost story reference book, something that might sell better in a museum gift shop of sorts.
Some stories were presented in a way that felt more like urban legends, and I would have appreciated more in the way of interviews with the people who felt they had experienced the supernatural. I feel illustrations or photos would have been beneficial too especially of the haunted houses of Summit Avenue, St Paul.
However, I did enjoy some of the stories individually, particularly the ghostly hitchhiker. Sadly though, none of the stories felt fresh and sadly I lost interest.
