Perfectly reasonable and perfectly readable biography of the footballer, who over the last couple of decades has proven himself a regular in the top two of the world. A lot of fans will know a fair bit of this already – it is more or less just the basics, but this is designed with large print and ease of use to be a non-fiction read for kids who wouldn't expect to be into that sort of thing. And that's just as important as the success it has in conveying his prestige and win-rate. A sign of a good set of books – even if I could tell you nothing about any of the other seven subjects.

Lionel Messi is an accomplished athlete I didn't know much about and this is a wonderful introduction. I especially loved reading about all he had to overcome when he was young and how the sports club FC Barcelona helped support him through that. This is an inspiring biography with a lot of great photos.

A great kids biography with a mix of photos from the past, as well as his more recent soccer career. Kids will eat up the bright pages, simple text, and engaging format.
