I loved "Be Unstoppable" by Alden Mills. The fable style of writing to communicate truths is one of my favorite ways to learn. Mills does an incredible job of conveying the steps necessary to be unstoppable and start new adventures. In this book, Mills applies the lessons to the story of a young captain who is feeling shame for being stuck and towed from a sandbar on his first real adventure across the big harbor. To the captain, crossing the harbor is a big deal until another shiny, larger boat docks beside him. As he wonders what would it be like to captain such a beautiful boat, the freshly docked captain invites him aboard. It's there that the lessons begin.
Weaving the lessons in fable fashion with real stories of the authors own experiences as a Seal, you discover how to overcome your mental and physical limitations and press on to achieve the dreams you didn't know you had. This audio version was extremely well done and I will be buying either the Kindle or hard copy to use as a reference guide for self and others who may be struggling to overcome their fear of failure. This book is worth sharing.

Be Unstoppable is an inspiring and energizing listen that blends storytelling, practical strategies, and motivational wisdom in a way that sticks with you long after it’s over. Alden Mills, a former Navy SEAL and entrepreneur, delivers his message with authenticity and conviction, guiding listeners through lessons of resilience, perseverance, and leadership.
The audiobook format makes the experience especially engaging—Mills’ passionate narration conveys both authority and encouragement, making you feel as if he’s coaching you personally. His use of real-life experiences, combined with actionable insights, creates a powerful roadmap for tackling challenges, overcoming setbacks, and achieving goals.
What sets this apart is its balance of inspiration and practicality. It’s not just motivational talk; it’s a toolkit for mindset shifts and forward action. Whether you’re facing personal struggles, professional challenges, or simply striving to push beyond your comfort zone, this audiobook lights the fire to keep moving forward.
An empowering and memorable listen, Be Unstoppable is perfect for anyone ready to rise above obstacles and unlock their potential. Highly recommended.

Told through a vivid shipping metaphor, this book sneaks motivation into a story that’s more gripping than you'd expect. It takes a while to get to the practical takeaways, but once the "skipper" shows up, you're in good hands. If you've ever wanted the ground to swallow you after a failure, this book reminds you how to get back up — and keep sailing.

Motivational in a story format using a shipping analogy. The story was gripping, but the framework/ teachable steps could have been brought in a little earlier. I started to wonder where the story was headed, but the dramatization was good.
We all have had embarassing moments and failures and low points when we want the floor to swallow us whole. Picking up gets harder, but the skipper in the book will coax you to rise beyond that discomfort.

The format of this book makes it stand out in that the guidance was given in story form, which is quite different than the usual self help books, However, I didn't really get much from this book that I hadn't heard already. Maybe I've read too many books in this genre. However, a lot of the material felt repackaged. It wasn't bad per se, and likely would be helpful for someone who has read fewer motivational books than I have. Overall, I would say it was fair to good.
Thank you to the publisher and net galley for the advance copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This book was told in a little bit different format, but I thought it was still interesting and informative. My philosophy is that if I gain a few good tips of information from a book then it was worth it. This book did make me think about actually executing the dreams I have. This book was a quick, easy listen. This book had solid, interesting narration. I received this book from Brilliance Publishing and Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This audiobook was engaging and felt like a legacy left to the author’s children. I liked the way it was told as a story instead of a classic self help book but didn’t necessarily find the content to be reparative at times.

Another book giving recycled guidance that sounds too good to be true. I was so unimpressed after the first chapter, I couldn’t bring myself to pick it back up.
