I really hope this isn't a one shot because wow was this such a cute manga. Loved the story and the characters, I definitely hope to see more. I absolutely love how the two being together wasn't a big issue or any issue at all, everyone was supportive even including total strangers. I always want to see more of that and more characters in their 30's, so happy these two weren't barely 18.
Very good read, quick one, would recommend!

This was a cute and quick read. It was super cute watching their love blossom and having a shy male lead was super adorable and fun to read about. At times the relationship felt a bit unrealistic but it was fun to read this lighthearted manga nonetheless.

The story was overall super cute! I enjoyed how the romance blossomed between the two main characters. The story had just the right amount of romantic tension.

Chiba is a driving instructor who is popular for his kindness and pretty face, things he takes full advantage of for good reviews while also doing his best to avoid romantic advances from students. When he's assigned new student Yaotome, known as the "Sharp-Suited Prince" for showing up to lessons in a suit, Chiba finds himself charmed by the mysterious man, especially when after-hours meetings reveal that being a manga artist isn't his only secret.

It's a very short-and-sweet romance that slowly reveals things about both Chiba and Yaotome in unexpected ways. You get moments of sadness, whimsy, seriousness, and joy. A little bit of everything to make it an engaging story that you'll walk away from with a smile.

The art is nothing particularly noteworthy, but it tells the story in clear lines and expressive faces on characters easily told apart, which is sometimes an achievement on its own.

Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the sweet read!

This one-shot BL manga was very cute and succinct. I appreciate that the manga artist had a clear vision of what they wanted to write about and executed it well! The characters were cute, and while the romance was definitely insta-lovey (at least on one side) that is pretty typical in manga and I did not enjoy the story less because of it.

I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!

Cute and sweet bl manga about a driving instructor and his student who fall in love while in close confines together. It's so cute and I loved this one shot. Not much drama and just very fun to read.

“My Instructor Won’t Yield” is a sweet and heartfelt BL one-shot with a refreshing driving school setting that makes it stand out. The leads have great chemistry, and while it’s not all sunshine and roses, it’s not tragic either! Just the right amount of emotion to tug at your heartstrings.

The art style really suited my tastes and matched the tone of the story perfectly. Short but memorable, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

This was not very memorable but it was cute and a quick read. Just what I needed to unwind for a bit. The characters were adorable and the story was fun, though unrealistic. I read it so quick that I couldn't even get attached to the characters but it was fun to read, nonetheless.

Really cute and subversive one-shot BL. No time wasted on gay panic or gratuitous sex scenes. Just a sweet development of natural chemistry between adorkable characters. Cozy palate cleanser between heavier reads.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC!

The story follows Chiba, a driving instructor who's sworn off love, and Yaotome, a manga artist with a secret. I thought this was a cute and lighthearted read! I really enjoyed the art style. I felt like the pacing was a little quick especially towards the end.

A one-shot BL romance between driving instructor Chiba and his new intriguing student.
Really loved the art style and the characters.
Overall, super cute and fun, but too short. Definitely wanted to see more of these two.

This manga tells me that it's apparently not uncommon to fall in love with one's driving instructor, because of the more adult student-teacher situation and the close proximity. Well, I can't relate to that. I hate driving and I was stressed out visibly during every single lesson and my instructor was like three times my age, so yeah. Still, I was grinning like an idiot while reading about two grown men blushing at each other inside a car. There's Chiba, the driving instructor, and his new student Yaotome, a manga artist. I don't really know what the English title is supposed to mean, because both men are not that reluctant to start a relationship with each other after spending some time together. They were pretty cute and although there was a bit of an unnecessary misunderstanding, they felt mature in a way that was refreshing. I've already read Strange Happenings at Nekomachi Shopping District (no official English release so far, sadly) by the same mangaka, and now I can say that her art style is pretty recognizable. I really like the way characters are drawn, but the backgrounds were more sparse this time. It's nothing special, but it's still a nice BL with a somewhat unusual setting. I thought that it was a one-shot and it also reads like one honestly, but apparently it's a series. On hiatus in Japan, though. I'm not uninterested in continuing, but I have to wait and see what happens.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for providing a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

the front cover was too good for me to miss out on this - absolutely love the art!

as a whole, the story centers on how the artist finally meets (and interacts) with his muse. the story is fast paced but it doesn't lose the message from its themes and underlying lessons. i think this one wrapped up pretty nicely with no loose ends and cliff hangers that are typical of graphic novels - which is a good sign if you're looking for a fun read that won't leave you hanging and waiting a long time!

one thing i particularly found relatable was our main character's reason for taking on driving lessons. for anyone who can relate - you have to agree that we'll do anything and everything for our pets.

3 stars! Such a cute little story that I was able to read in one sitting! It did take me a minute to get into the characters and feel like they had much chemistry and I think I probably would have enjoyed it more if it were longer or maybe a series so that there had been more time for the main characters relationship to really develop. All in all I enjoyed this tho and loved the cute ending!

There were some parts of this manga that I thought were very cute; however, I was a little disconcerted by how obsessed and fixated Mr. Yaotome was with Chiba.

I received an e-ARC and am giving my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for this opportunity!

This was such a cute and fluffy read, I absolutely adored it. I loved the unknown the beginning scene brought, wondering who "Maki" was, why Mr. Yaotome is so flustered and nervous. I truly loved how lighthearted it was. I much prefer the sweet, low-angst BL stories to the angsty ones with 4 breakups. Just a personal preference, and this was the perfect sweet BL, with a little hint of spice and yearning. Really just so sweet.

🌟 5/5 Stars – A Sweet and Charming Debut!

I've never written a manga or comic review before, and I’m so excited to start with My Instructor Won’t Yield by Deme Kingyobachi! As a huge fan of manga and comics, I feel genuinely honored to share my thoughts on something I love so much.

First of all, this story is absolutely adorable! The main characters are so sweet together, it made my teeth hurt—in the best way possible. Their chemistry is natural and heartwarming, with just the right touch of humor and fluff to keep you turning the pages.

The art is just as delightful as the story. The character designs are super cute and expressive. I was especially impressed with how well the male characters are drawn—something that not all shoujo manga pull off consistently. Deme Kingyobachi has a great eye for detail and style, and it really shows in each panel.

Overall, I’m completely smitten with this manga and can't wait to see what this talented artist/mangaka creates next. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet romantic comedies with great artwork!

I enjoyed reading this cute, light-hearted manga. The story flows along quite nicely and it's a breeze to read ( I finished it in one sitting!). The two main characters, Mr Chiba and Mr Yaotome are very likeable. Mr Yaotome's social awkwardness and introverted character leads to some hilariously awkward conversations. The romance moves long at brisk pace, with no unnecessary miscommunications. Mr Yaotome mentions not being able to keep up his mask that he presents to the world when he's with Mr Chiba. However, we truly see Mr Chiba let down his own mask and truly acknowledge his feelings for Mr Yaotome. Both MCs are kind, gentle and mature, leading them to express themselves in a timely manner to sort out misunderstandings.

The plot ( such as there is) is very straightforward with no major plot twists. It's still a fun read anyway.

The drawing style is lovely. The characters have distinct looks and facial expressions that convey their feelings very well. The backgrounds are rendered very nicely as well. It made reading this manga particularly enjoyable.
