It's been a while since I read a slice of life manga, and perhaps longer since I read a BL one, and I can't think of a better one to be the first after so long. I loved Chiba and Yaotome's characters, and thought they suited each other quite well as romantic interests, with Chiba's calm yet outgoing, reassuring and level-headed personality balancing out Yaotome's nervous, introverted otaku self. The story was cute, funny, the characters were well rounded and emotionally intelligent, and the pacing was done very well considering it's a manga; if another volume of this were to be available to request in the future, I will definitely be requesting it.

I loved loved loved this! I think the one-sided pining into mutual pining worked so well, especially as both main characters had moments where they got sentimental and had confessional moments of their own. I do think the ex-boyfriend conflict was pretty one-dimensional but it served its purpose so whatever. I also would have liked some more time with fleshed out side characters but how much we saw them does make sense for a standalone too.

It was cute, but I feel like there wasn’t enough progression in the relationship. It was kind of slow, and usually that means you get a good build up, but I didn’t really understand why they liked each other in the end.

This book was absolutely adorable. I'd never heard of this manga or author before, and I was so pleasantly surprised! It's got the perfect combination of romance, comedy, and character development for a one shot. I found it delightful from beginning to end. I'm a big sucker for the gap moe trope, as well as the pining going on here.

A very sweet story about a driving instructor and his mysterious student finding an unexpected connection--in more ways than one! I love how the plot weaves the two of them together outside of their lessons. This could have been a much larger volume and I would still have devoured it in one sitting!

Thank you so much to Kodansha Comics for giving me an eARC through NetGalley!
I love reading any type of romance story. So when I saw this one-shot, I knew I needed to pick it up. The cover is very eye catching and the title perfectly sums up what the story is about.
I really loved this story. The chemistry between the love interests was so cute that it had me kicking my feet. I just wished they had some more cute date scenes. I would definitely recommend this manga to anyone wanting a quick and easy read.

My Instructor Won’t Yield by Deme Kingyobachi, out next month, is a single-volume BL story with plenty of comedy and misunderstandings. The twists and turns of the two as they learn to talk to each other reminded me of a roller coaster, with various obstacles — including a past relationship, Yaotome’s work, and a trip away — placed in their way, but they’re handled quickly, keeping the story moving. My Instructor Won’t Yield is a fun read without a series commitment, a nice bit of escapism, with an intriguing way to keep bringing the two leads together.

This was so cute and surprisingly funny! Chiba is a driving instructor who's especially popular among the ladies. He's paired with his newest student Mr. Yaotome, who seems terrified to drive. The two end up getting closer to one another but Mr. Yaotome has a bit of a secret involving Chiba.
This was an adorable one shot. Mr. Yaotome was so awkward and endearing! I loved the characters and while the plot wasn't exactly deep it was highly entertaining. I do wish it was longer and a bit more fleshed out but I wish that about almost every one shot I read.🤣 It was a fun quick read if you're looking for something unserious with good art and two precious goofballs. I'd be interested to read more by this mangaka.
Thank you netgalley and Kodansha for the eARC!

During this I developed a habit of reading the MC’s name as chibi instead of Chiba BECAUSE he is so cute. This poor, sweet driving instructor is just so tired of being hit on at work, and little does he know his avoidance practice will actually put him next to his biggest admirer and ensue the drama that follows. Pretty low stakes, just a soft BL romance, an easy and entertaining read that made me smile. Very cute, I liked the art style a lot, and overall enjoyed the story.

This was so cute, but really short, I would have loved reading more about their romance. The translation notes at the end were a great touch, it's the first manga that I read with notes like that.

This was so cute!! The art was gorgeous and the story had so many ups and downs for a one shot. It kept me on my toes but the ending was so sweet, it was worth it. Lovely read, start to finish.

That was a really cute BL ! A little bit short tho.
I was fun, cute and a fast read but It is a bit unmemorable ? Like nothing in this story stood out much from other cute yaoi I've read. Nor the storyline nor the characters design felt unique but they were still cute. I think I will continue on with the series because It is definitely something that will be enjoyable to read !

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for allowing me access to an ARC in exchange for a fair and Honest review!
This was so cute! the art style is also great, I love a BL where i can actually tell the mmcs apart. As well I love the unique set up for this manga.
We follow Chiba, a driving instructor and his new student Yaotome. Yaotome is nervous to drive and secretly based a character in his manga after Chiba when they met in the past. This is a cute little one shot BL. The plot isn't super deep but hell yeah they actually communicate when they have issues. Overall this is a cute fun BL for an afternoon read. Would love to see more from this author.

This was a cute BL manga, although I had a hard time connecting to the main characters.

When I saw the premise of this, I was immediately intrigued. The idea of falling in love with your driving instructor was SO funny to me, considering my driving instructor had been a man in his late 50s that spent every driving lesson just pointing out all of the other people on the road he'd taught.
I really enjoyed the first half of the story. There were some really funny and sweet interactions between the main characters, which I enjoyed. But the second half of the story went into some directions I had not been expecting, and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first half.
That said, it's a very cute comic. The art style is absolutely gorgeous. The characters are really cute and the different expressions were really well drawn. I would happily buy a physical copy of this for my bookshelf.

This is a wonderful BL manga about two 30 year old men who meet at a driving school as instructor and student. This is a really sweet manga that I would rec to people looking for romance manga feature working adult characters.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for early copy for review*

This was a cute one-shot between a driver instructor and shojo manga writer. I wish that there was more and the story could have been built up more.

Ok BUT THIS WAS SO GOOD
i loved ever page, the artstyle and storyline. I would become it to everybody!

This was such a cute manga and a fun read. I genuinely enjoyed the arty style and the storyline. I will say I would have preferred this to have possibly an additional volume since I feel like the story was rushed at times and characters didn't have the opportunity to be fully fleshed out.

This was such a cute, quick read. I used to be into long series manga but this was a great way to get back into it. Only thing I wish was it was a bit longer or another volume or two but this was still worth the read.
