The cover and art drew me to this graphic novel. The synopsis sounded incredibly tailored to me.
The story starts and ends beautifully. Both were exactly what I anticipated.
The middle substance of this story was full of much more blood and trauma than I anticipated. This tale leaned towards a dark side of fae lore with a penchant for violence and cruelty. I do wish some of that had been scaled back for my taste, especially in such a condensed narrative.
That being said, I look forward to future releases from Mari Costa. This was a deliciously queer read with a charming ending.
Thank you to Mari Costa and First Second Books for granting me an eARC through NetGalley.

Absolutely beautiful art style with an adorable queer story. The cozy coloring and style made the story come to life so well.

A DELIGHT!!! AN ABSOLUTE LITTLE TREAT. I'm eternally a sucker for fae stories (especially changeling ones) and I'm also a sucker for butch swordswomen, and this hit both birds with one stone.
A lot of times I have issues with the pacing in graphic novels being too fast, but I think this one really nailed a sweet spot of not being overly long, but still allowing space for the dynamic between Aisling and Not to breathe and really come to life. It was sweet without being overly saccharine, and the climax was soooo much fun. Honestly this is probably one of my favorite graphic novels I've read in a while, just a well orchestrated and gorgeously illustrated bit of storytelling.

I love the art and concept, I finished this in one reading and it was so interesting. Sadly, what I didn’t like was the thought that this was made for kids and promotes LGBTQIA+. I went in blind thinking it was just a fun read about fae.
I think this isn’t suitable for the audience.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

This was a sweet graphic novel with fantasy and fairy tale overtones and themes. There was a good mix of adventure, drama, and forgiveness as one would expect, though the overall details and emotions remained fairly light. The graphics were consistent and well done, with good flow from one scene to the next. I’d recommend this to someone looking for a fantasy/adventure graphic novel.

This was adorable. Sort of a Rapunzel-adjacent true faerie tale, with a handsome, hardened adventurer bringing back a "missing" princess, all with true love saving the day. It read really smoothly, and the art was absolutely beautiful.
I especially loved the little moments between Aisling and Not, where they were each having a revelation or feeling in a suspended moment together. They were illustrated so clearly yet subtly, and it was just a sweet romance!
There wasn't really a lot of depth that I often look for, as it stayed fairly surface-level, but I still really enjoyed it! I did love Not's character growth throughout.

Such a lovely tale! The art style is just so adorable and gorgeous. The chemistry between the two of these characters was just so pleasant to see. I loved the ending very much and it seemed like such an appropriate way to end the tale of Aisling and Forget-Me-Not!!

The art in the graphic novel was so beautiful! I loved the art style. The story itself was simple and so sweet. I love a fairytale retelling of sorts and this one was a great story that had queer characters! I loved the simplicity of it and the beautiful art!!

Oh, Forget-Me-Not and Aisling, how I adore thee! Their playful chemistry and banter are so electric they leave you with a hunger for more of them together. I also really appreciated the exploration of gender roles and how it pushes back against them throughout. What shines the most in this graphic novel is Aisling's arc of self acceptance and discovery as she learns her true origins. Even though she's in an otherworldly situation, Aisling's coming of age story is relatable to all. It's such rich worldbuilding through stellar art design and engaging narrative storytelling. The world itself is so interesting that I'd love more exploration of it even through other characters.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sweet, hopeful story that even though it held heavier, somewhat darker elements managed to handle them with care. Doing so still allowed the story to have that overall sweet fairytale romance vibe that I’ve loved since childhood. The main characters were delightful and definitely fit the grumpy x sunshine trope that I enjoy quite a bit. The art accompanying the story was absolutely beautiful. The depictions of the different fae and the environments of faery were a delight. I couldn’t stop trying to look at everything in the frame cause I didn’t want to miss something.
Overall, between the art and the story I found this to be a graphic novel that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend to others.

This was such a warming cute graphic novel!! I absolutely love the story and the characters. The art and the colors was also gorgeous as well!!

It was so cute!!! Ugh it reminded me of the tea dragon society but with older characters! Aisling was so adorable and Forget-Me-Not was such a knightly vibe. This was such a short and sweet graphic novel that I wish I could get more of. I'm so happy they got their happy ending and that there wasnt a cliff hanger!! Ugh the art was so beautiful as well! I loved their character designs!!!! Ugh I need more ASAP!!

A whimsical graphic novel about a princess who discovers that she is a changeling - a faerie swapped out for a human baby. Aisling is charming, kind, determined, and apparently a member of the fae! Forget-Me-Not a/k/a Not is the human that Aisling was swapped with, who has come to bring Aisling back to the faerie world against her will. Though her captor, Not finds herself becoming fond and protective of Aisling.
This was a charming story, guaranteed to make you smile. The art is beautiful - on multiple occasions I found myself just staring at a page for minutes, just taking the pictures in.

Thank you to Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review. This was adorable. I also requested it from Netgalley without realizing it was a graphic novel, but it was a pleasant surprise. Aisling is the beloved princess. She is kind, sweet, demure. She is also—though she doesn’t know this—a changeling, sent to infiltrate the human kingdom. The night before Aisling turns eighteen, a girl named Forget-Me-Not, claiming to be the actual princess breaks into Aisling’s chambers and kidnaps her. Forget-Me-Not plans to take Aisling to the Seelie court, where she will live out her days as a servant. But Aisling’s biological father, an evil faerie, is out to thwart her plans. He wants Aisling as his own servant. She and Forget-Me-Not go on a harrowing journey through the fae lands, and the two girls slowly start to develop feelings for each other. This is a super cute sapphic enemies to lovers story. I loved it! I will say though, the official synopsis says that the love interest’s name is Forgive-Me-Not, like the book title, but in the book it’s Forget-Me-Not. A tad confusing.

What happens when a princess of a kingdom finds out that she is actually a changeling child? and she meets the REAL princess who had traded spots with her as a baby? I won't say too much more, but that is how the story of Aisling and Forget-me-not begins, and what a journey!
This was SO GOOD!
I want to start by saying the art was amazing. It was so, so beautiful. I will absolutely be rereading this one multiple times before the pub date. And then, the characters. I loveeeed Aisling and Forget-me-not so much. I think it's always amazing to see how a graphic novel can show the growth of characters with such a limited amount of time, and it was executed so well here. And, I know Forget-me-not is not technically a knight, but I am loving this era of strong swordswomen!!! Give me more lady knights!!! I am obsessed! And I LOVED all the blushing in here!!! SO. DANG. CUTE!
I was not expecting to CRY from this graphic novel, but I somehow found myself reading in my kitchen and the tears wouldn't stop (I am a baby). And the last two pages of illustrations?!? I won't say anything, but all you need to know is that I audibly screamed because the cuteness of it stabbed me through the heart (I am being dramatic, but rightfully so).
Anyways, this was an adorable story between two princesses who mistrusted each other at first, but showed how far they would go to protect each other. I love them so much, and I really hope the author decides to a spin-off of them again, because I already miss them.
Thank you netgalley and First Second books for this arc!
Out April 14, 2026!!!!

This story was adorable - great for fans of Holly Black since it gave similar vibes to her version of Faerie in the best way - the illustrations were beautiful and the story was heartfelt

Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for an eArc copy of “Forgive-Me-Not” for review!
While I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I think it's okay in the case of graphic novels.🙈 This story was beautifully illustrated and perfectly matched the magical vibe of the fae. I love the wispy and dramatic way Mari interpreted various types of creatures throughout the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed the character development of the main pair and their commitment to their morals. I wish the novel was a bit longer to allow for more character bonding and a more drawn-out antagonist confrontation, but I can't complain about a quick, sweet read. I'd most certainly dedicate time to reading an expanded series with more stories in this universe!

"Forgive-Me-Not" is a graphic novel focusing on our two main characters--Aisling, a fae changeling who has been raised as the princess, and Forget Me Not, the true princess who has been raised in Faerie. One night Aisling is taken from the palace by Forget Me Not and is forced to return to Faerie, where we meet new characters and dive headfirst into action.
This graphic novel is the perfect length--long enough for Aisling and Not's dynamic to change at just the right pace. I loved how you can see the changes in their body language and their actions towards the other, instead of in their words, and I adored their banter! I thought the dialogue was done very well--the back-and-forth between the characters (side characters included) was so funny at some points. Additionally, although the royal family was not in the story too much, as Aisling is taken from the palace pretty quickly into the plot, it's easy to see their love for their "daughter."
I'd also like to talk about the illustrations! They were so beautiful, I felt like I was transported right to Faerie. The facial expressions, the scenery, the detailing--all of it was so wonderful. And the last thing I'd like to mention is the ending--it was so cute.
Overall, I would recommend this graphic novel if you are looking for a fairytale-esque, sapphic enemies-to-lovers tale of fae, magic and romance.

This was the perfect queer YA fantasy graphic novel!
I absolutely adored the art, the characters, and the story. Following a fae princess changeling switched at birth situation - this story weaves a sapphic love story of finding yourself and your family in unexpected ways.

This is a queer fantasy graphic novel about a princess and her changeling counterpart. Aisling, on the verge of her eighteenth birthday, is captured by Forgive Me Not, the real princess she replaced when she was a baby. Their prickly relationship turns into one of friendship as they get to know each other, and it's so cute and heartwarming to see their relationship blossom. It's a charming coming-of-age story between the two girls who learn about their roots and identity, and how they want to shape their lives. I love that it touches on family, romance, and also lets the girls shine in what they do best. I think this is great for middle-grade and teen readers who are starting to get into the fantasy genre.
