The cover of this was a big draw-in for me (big elf fan, me) and then the descriptio had me, and I regret not returning to NetGalley sooner, because it would have been amazing if I had been able to get involved in a social media tour for this book before its release.
Although there were a few things that confused me a little bit as I made my way through the book (more down to the way my brain works, than the writing; I found the passages that confused me insanely cool and intriguing, I just couldn’t get my head around them, haha), I loved this! The premise was fascinating, and the story felt like a love letter to imagination and the act of creating beautiful pieces of art by putting pen- or any artist’s drawing utensil- to paper.
I loved Nathaniel as a main character; he wasn’t perfect and had his flaws, but I found him very lovable and thought he had a good character arc as the novel progressed - and his creations and additions to the “Inkworld” were fascinating and awesome (I am so jealous of his artistic talent). I also really liked Brandoveii, he was an amazing companion and guide to Nathaniel, and found Olan and Ingvill, and Tik and Tok so entertaining!- the villain though? *Shivers* the description of him created such an unsettling image in my head, which is a testament to Dean’s writing; reading this, it was like a film was being played inside my head as I was reading, and I am very much looking forward to the next book in the Inkworld Sagas series!
