This picture book has cute illustrations, and it demonstrates for kids what it is like to play in the snow. There isn't much of a story here, and there isn't a strong theme, either. However, this can appeal as a simple book that teaches kids what to expect from a first snow.

This is such a sweet book. The illustrations are soft (is that the right word?). I mean the color palette is really gentle. The book reads around the 2nd- 3rd grade level and I was able to see that there were cvc words in there (not all, though) e.g words like "whole" or 'village' do not technically follow the science of reading format. The density of words suggest 2nd grade, but the non cvc wording suggests 3rd grade. The tiger also surprisingly seemed to know exactly what snow is? I guess that'd be a good discussion point for your kiddos!

A good book to read with your kids.

This was a very sweet and very simple book that would be perfect for a young reader. I haven't read their earlier book, but I really liked the characters in this story. The art style was also very sweet and gentle; the illustrations paired with the sleepy ending would make this a great bedtime story.

This was a cute book with unique illustrations that were fun to look at. We enjoyed the storyline of Mei and Tiger exploring the snow and having an adventure, then going home to warm up. I did feel that there must’ve been an earlier book that introduced us to mei and tiger that I missed.

Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher Spotlight for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the art style and atmosphere, and it’s cute to follow a girl and tiger playing in the snow, and for Tiger to not realize why Mei wants to go home. The story could open up discussions about paying attention and listening to others, because not everyone’s needs are the same. I do wish there was a bit more going on in the story, and I’m not sure how intentional the theme I pulled out of it was, but it’s an okay book anyway.

In a really fun, smudgey feeling art style, a boy and a tiger adventure through the snow. This is a perfect cozy bed time story as the two tucker themselves out and eventually fade into sleep.

I think that this is a really cute and fun little book, but I noticed a few contradictions, for lack of a better word. The story starts out with Tiger not knowing what snow is, but I noticed that there were things that Tiger just *knew* to do with snow. For example, if someone has never seen snow before, how would they know that it's common to make a snowman? In the long run, these details don't matter and it's still a good book, but I still wanted to point that out.
However, that is the only critique I have for this book! I thought that the illustrations captured the beauty of snow nicely, and the art style was very unique to this book. I really liked the way that Tiger was drawn - adorable!
Overall, I think that this is a good book for young readers, it's simple and easy-to-understand, and it is a perfect wintertime read.
