A fantastic ending to a wonderful trilogy! I absolutely adored the Maxton Hall series. While the ending felt a little rushed, I think that’s only because I didn’t want it to end—no matter what, it would have felt too short for me.

I really enjoyed how the author added more points of view as the series went on. It gave the story more depth and made the finale even more engaging. Getting those different perspectives added so much to the overall experience.

An emotional, satisfying, and unforgettable conclusion—I loved every page.

well i think im deciding to either rate this book a 2 star or a 3 star, so we'll just put it as 3 stars for now, i guess??

yay!! i'm free. tbh this book just felt kinda dragged out with so much unnecessary drama. i think i like the additional POVs with emberwren, alistairkeshav and lydiagraham. most of the plot twists was so predictable to me, mostly because they were your typical wattpad cliches.

jame's father was soo INSUFFERABLE, ive never hated a character more than him. i'm really happy with what he got in the end.

also is it bad that i don't really care about rubyjames?? like i was only eating up the emberwren, alistairkeshav and lydiagraham crumbs lolll

⤷ thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

while i think the conclusion to this trilogy is very good and im very happy with/appreciate how every loose end was tied up, this book was lacking the oomph, angst and shock that the first two brought 😭

i was super shocked when i noticed i was at 55% earlier today because i really couldnt get over that there was much more to wrap up. this led to the book feeling like it was way longer than it needed to be due to from around this time frame to maybe the last 10-15% of the book it felt very monotonous.

i also think that the many POVs took too much time away from James & Ruby. again while i appreciate the wrap ups/little peaks into their head there were far too many POV switches and it takes you out of everything.

very excited to have finally read and understood the hype of this series!! im looking forward to finally letting myself binge the TV series once season 2 comes out 🥰

As much as I loved the first book in the series the last two just weren’t for me.

I found as I continued on with the series that I just didn’t feel connected with the characters. I got overwhelmed with the extra POVs and the age of the characters just didn’t make me feel connected to them.

I did enjoy the setting of the book, however. And I did enjoy some of the more serious moments.

Overall, I didn’t love the series and just found myself skimming to complete it. But I know so many people who will love this book. So I would still recommend for those that are looking for this type of book!

Thank you for allowing me to read this series early.

Wow I’m so not ready for this to be over! Firstly thank you to Mona Kasten, her team, and publishers for trusting us with this wonderful triology! I didn’t want this series to end, at any point I couldn’t calm down cause I knew something was going a happen. Plot twists were very strong in this one but it also made soooooooooo much sense!

Going into the tv shows when they release is going to be so much fun, the little details, and parallels! I love Ruby and James relationship, they were the to making this from a good book to a great one! This book gave us so many different POV’s it was actually great! I feel like we grew up with these characters even though it sets in a year in half ish time frame, there was so much love and attention set into this that I truly felt as if I was apart of the group!

Thank you so much Berkeley publishing and NetGalley, I will keep Ruby and James alive in my heart!

Save Us brings the Maxton Hall trilogy to an emotional and satisfying close, tying up the drama, heartache, and tension that’s been building between Ruby and James since the beginning. After all the secrets, betrayals, and missteps, this final installment finally gives the characters space to grow, and to choose who they want to be beyond the expectations of their families and social status.

One of the strongest parts of this book is the expansion of perspectives. We hear more from Lydia, Alistair, and even Ember, which adds depth and gives the story a more rounded feel. James's development finally feels earned, and Ruby continues to be a grounded, ambitious heroine who doesn't compromise herself for love, which is refreshing.

The pacing is more balanced than in Save You, and while there’s still plenty of drama, the tone leans more toward healing and hope. Some plot points resolve a bit too neatly, but after all the emotional chaos of book two, it's a welcome relief.

A heartfelt and mature conclusion that rewards readers with closure, growth, and just the right amount of happily-ever-after.

I hated that we had more POVs, I’m just not a big fan of that in books. I was surprised, I thought the relationship between Wren and Ember would take up more of the plot, but it didn’t. I was pleased with the last few chapters playing out the way they did. Glad the kids got their shares of the company, glad their father has no hold over them and the company anymore, glad Ruby and James ended up together. Overall, I didn’t hate the book, it felt like Mona was just tying up loose ends so it didn’t drag on like other authors tend to do.

Overall, I enjoyed this series and thought this was a pretty good wrap up to end it all. Loved the angst and toxicity and really liked that these got me into the show.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wrap up of this series. All the characters have gone through their own battles and come out the other side better for it.

I cannot believe this series is over. I am genuinely sad to say goodbye because I really loved Ruby and James’s story. I rooted for them, I felt for them, and honestly I obsessed over them. This series made me feel so many things, and now I am just sad it has to end.

Save Us picks up right where we left off, with Ruby in total limbo and all her carefully curated plans hanging by a thread. James and Lydia are stuck under their father’s control, and I wanted so badly for them to tell him off and finally watch him get what he deserves. The family drama in this book had me stressed, swooning, and yelling at the pages in the best way.

What you can expect:

👥 Multi POV

❤️‍🔥 Angsty romance

💔 Toxic family

😶 Dad’s dirty little secret

🎓 bittersweet “what comes after school” vibes

The ending wrapped things up nicely, but I still wanted a little more. I was not quite ready to let go of these characters. Mona Kasten’s writing is emotional, addictive, and full of those swoony moments that keep you glued to the page.

This was such a satisfying finale, and it gave me all the feels. Ruby and James will definitely stick with me. Four and a half stars rounded up to five.

A perfect ending to the series.

I honestly don’t know what kind of magic Mona used while writing this, but I devoured it in three days—which is probably the fastest I’ve ever finished a series—and I won’t stop thinking about it anytime soon.

I loved that in this book we got POVs from both Graham and Alistair. I really enjoyed getting to know them better.

There are only two tiny complaints—if I can even call them that. First, I wish Mortimer had faced harsher consequences. I know he lost the one thing that mattered most to him, but I still wish he had suffered more, because he’s a monster who deserves the worst. He literally doesn’t have a single redeeming quality.

Second, I would’ve loved to see more scenes with Wren and Ember, especially toward the end. I hope they get their own story and happy ending, too.

Other than that, everything was truly perfect. So much so that I won’t be at peace until I own physical copies of all three books. I’m also really looking forward to seeing what the second and third seasons of the show will look like.

Definitely a huge recommendation from me for this series.

The ending just left me wanting more - it felt very rushed and not as full of emotion as the previous two books. I wish we would have had more James and Ruby instead of so much of everyone else.

Book three picks up right after book two's conflicted ending. Could James have sent that picture? James and Ruby's relationship finally matures in this story. Ruby has always jumped to conclusions without hearing all the facts and James has never had the spine to stand up to his father. Lydia has to deal with her condition and who exactly will remain in her life.

I will say this-although I love POV's in books-this has way to many. Some of these are from characters just on the rim of the story-handles on frying pans. There, but not important enough or interesting enough to warrant their own POV. It creates a jumbled mess and confuses the reader's thoughts.

I did enjoy the ending, but to be honest I think this series could easily have been two books instead of three. Too much contrived drama. This series needs to trim the fat a bit and focus on the important aspects and events of the story.

While I love the conflict resolution this wasn’t giving what I needed. I needed more Ruby and James and this didn’t deliver it fully. Once again, we are given so many POVs that the focus was too split for my liking.

I reallllly wanted to like it more than I did. I’m still completely invested in the tv show and hope they take some creative control and switch some things up.

It was the perfect ending to the trilogy. I didn't feel like it was rushed, and all answers to questions were answered. I hope other characters get spin offs!

I loved this book. It was a great way to wrap up the trilogy! I could feel the emotions of all the characters, and really wanted all of them to win.

I loved this series. I can't wait to get to watch the show, too. My only complaint about the ending was that I wanted more. I wish we could have seen them older and where they went after high school. I loved where Lydia and James' story went with their father. The unexpected twist to that was great. James and Ruby getting their happy ending was everything I wanted. This whole series was a guilty pleasure, but I couldn't stop. I can't recommend these enough if you enjoy a little rich people drama like I do!

You know, I thought James and Lydia's father couldn't get worse, but he somehow did. I thought maybe the scene in Save You where James finds his father crying in the dining room may change things for them. Obviously not.

Again, lots of drama. I knew the photo James took in Same Me was going to come back at one point. Just so much drama. I didn't find the ending surprising at all. Very predictable in my opinion. Will teens who thrive on drama love this book, probably. You have the question is Ruby will get back into Maxton Hall (which is the only way for her to get into Oxford), Lydia's pregnancy, James and Lydia moving out of their father's house, Ember and Wren's hidden friendship/romance, answers from the mysterious aunt, a hidden will, and so much more. Would I recommend this teen book to an adult?...as I have done with multiple YA books...nope. Did I get hooked and still have to finish the series...yup.

I watched the TV series of Maxton Hall on Amazon Prime before seeing these books become available in English. I really enjoyed the books. It’ll be fun to see the next two seasons on Amazon Prime when they’re available as well. This series is a combo of young adult and new adult romance. It starts in high school and goes to college. I really enjoyed the characters, the plot and romance. It’s a trilogy you’ll want to read back to back. The last book releases in November. They cured my reading slump.

Save Us, the final book in the trilogy by Mona Kasten, was the perfect end to the series. The multiple POVs helped flesh out the story and all the sub-plots. It had all the peak 2000s CW vibes—drama upon drama, but the wonderful, addictive brain-candy kind. Perfect for fans of The OC or Gossip Girl, this YA (or new adult?) series set at a private British school will suck you in. (These books are on the steamier side of YA, which is why I lean more toward the new adult classification.) I’m so grateful the whole trilogy now exists in its English translation (it was originally published in German.) A huge thanks to Berkley for my advance copy.
