I enjoyed the premise, setting, and the main characters. I’m a big fan of second chance romance. The secondary characters were kind of dull or annoying except for the ex-MOL who was great at being evil. I listened to the audiobook and the dude who narrated for Link had a SEXY voice!

This audiobook is narrated by J.Y. Kora and Midnite Michael. I love when novels with multiple viewpoints have multiple narrators. The voice acting helped this feel more romantic.
This story was light, fun, sexy and even had a villain. Ebony is a high society elite event planner and former debutante who grew up to have it all. When she is unexpectedly publicly embarrassed by her (now soon to be ex) husband's behavior. To overcome this personal embarrassment and reclaim her place in high society Ebony needs this next big event to be splendid. In steps architect Lincoln Bridges to complicate the delicate process of Ebony's come back event.
The romance had shades of insta-love but the author was able to make the story line work. This a glitzy and the characters aren't meant to feel relatable and don't. This creates a very escapist style story and this is enhanced by how unrelatable the characters lives feel. This was dramatic and over the top, a bit like a prime time soap opera. Nothing in this narrative takes itself seriously or breaks the escapist vibe of the novel.

3.75⭐
After catching her husband entangled with another woman, Ebony Grace Livingston (who's born to be flawless, have her life together with the career of a professional wedding planner) felt her world crumble. But as the powerful she is, she decides to continue to curate her life (on social media) as normal, all the while planning a high profile wedding causing her to encounter people from her past relationship.
Such a cute, yet drama-filled romance. Could definitely see Tyler Perry making a movie out of this one day.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was so fun and I always have a good time with this author. I want so much more from her. These was a good time

The Divorcetante was a cute read. It started off well and then dragged in the middle and then picked up again towards the end. Overall solid 3/5 stars.

Solid 3 star read for me. The writing style or maybe it was how it came through the audio was little hard to get into. I felt as though the drama was too over the top for me as well. But I still enjoyed it and listed to the whole book.
I enjoyed the plot and the chemistry between the MCs. There was a messy plot but I was here to see what came from it.

A Stylish Ride with Some Bumps Along the Way
The Divorcetante by Mia H. is a bold, witty, and sometimes outrageous look at life after divorce in the world of high society. The premise is fresh, following a newly single woman as she reclaims her life with confidence, sass, and a designer wardrobe in tow. The author delivers moments of sharp humor and biting commentary on wealth, relationships, and reinvention.
That said, the pacing was a bit uneven, and some of the character development felt surface-level. There were times I wanted to dig deeper into the protagonist's emotions or get more from the supporting cast. The balance between satire and sincerity didn’t always hit the mark.
Still, it’s an entertaining read with a unique voice and perspective. If you enjoy stories about starting over, with style and a side of snark, this may be your kind of book.

This audiobook felt like being dropped into a world of luxury, secrets, and glow-up energy, with narration so good it practically drips off the headphones. J.Y. Kora is Ebony. Her voice carried all the elegance, fire, vulnerability, and quiet power that make Ebony such a magnetic lead. From the sharp boardroom banter to the soft moments of reflection, Kora’s delivery was nuanced and empowering.
Midnite Michael as Lincoln was the perfect complement—measured, charismatic, and full of that understated emotional depth Lincoln keeps on lock. Together, their dynamic was electric. You can hear the history between these two in every interaction.
The narration didn’t just enhance the story—it elevated it. If you want a fully immersive experience where the characters live and breathe right in your ears, this one is worth the listen.

The Divorcétante is a fun, heartfelt, high-society second-chance romance with a heroine you cannot help but cheer for. Ebony Grace Livingston—once the flawless debutante, now the very public divorcée—steps out from behind other people’s expectations and rebuilds on her own terms. I loved how the book balances champagne-gloss settings with real emotional stakes; Ebony’s journey through betrayal, image rehab, and self-worth felt real, relatable and empowering.
Her chemistry with Lincoln Bridges delivers a satisfying emotional payoff without rushing the plot. I expected they’d find their way back to one another (second-chance readers know the assignment!), but the path still felt earned. The romance heat level lands in the “just right” zone—intimate and on-page enough to satisfy, but never overwhelming.
The pacing worked well for me: steady, engaging, and easy to follow.. Secondary characters appear, but the emotional weight stays with Ebony (and Lincoln), keeping the story focused. Recommend for readers who enjoy contemporary Black romance with luxe settings, self reinvention, and women reclaiming their shine—fans of authors like Tia Williams, Kennedy Ryan, and Danielle Allen should take note.
If you’re deciding between formats, I highly recommend the audio. The dual narration—J.Y. Kora (Ebony) and Midnite Michael (Lincoln)—adds warmth, charisma, and emotional nuance that deepens the entire experience. Kora gives Ebony poise edged with vulnerability; Midnite Michael’s delivery as Lincoln is smooth as butter! Their performances make the romantic tension land, especially in scenes where professional conflict cracks open personal history.
Production quality is clean, pacing feels natural, and the ~10-hour runtime (listed at 9h 55m) never dragged. Even if you own the ebook, the audio is worth it—great for multitasking and for hearing the emotional beats in real time.

It was enjoyable and I loved seeing Ebony find her strength and happiness through her heartbreak. But the plot with Lincoln was soooo slow to a complete 180 to instalove.

Loved the story. But the female narrator was so boring and slow! It took a while for me to
Get into it with her voice

I thoroughly enjoyed The Divorcétante! The narration was top-notch, with two different actors voicing Lincoln and Ebony, and they did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. From a story standpoint, I loved the drama; it was perfectly balanced and never totally over the top, but captivating and twisty enough to keep me engaged. I listened to this whole thing in one day! I also really appreciated the different themes, with elements of revenge and deceit, along with family burdens that get passed from generation to generation and cultural standards and norms that Ebony is finally able to break away from to live her life more authentically and vulnerably. It’s almost a coming-of-age tale despite it being about a character in her 30s, and I loved this on a personal level because I was in my early 30s when I got divorced and it really is like having to find yourself all over again - or maybe finding yourself for the first time.
This was the perfect kind of substantive romance, with complex themes that touch on society, equity, gender norms, and socioeconomic status while also providing a scintillating and wonderful romance! I was so glad to get to read (listen to) this e-arc; enormous thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for sharing it with me! I can’t wait to read more from Mia Heintzelman.

This was a fun, messy read. It’s about Ebony finding herself again after being publicly embarrassed and betrayed by her husband.
I listened via audiobook and the narration was perfect! As far as the plot, even though some of the characters’ actions and conversations were unrealistic, I liked the overall self-discovery vibe of the book. The pacing of the rekindling felt extremely rushed, but I did enjoy Ebony & Linc’s mature and open communication.
If you’re a fan of messy drama, reality TV, chaos, second chance romance and workplace romance, you might like this one!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It is a light-hearted comedic romance, with just enough drama to keep you captivated.
My only qualm with the audiobook was that when I first heard the male reader he was a bit difficult to understand because of how deep his voice was. But with continuous listening, understanding him became easier. I was a little frustrated with it at first because I thought it would have affected my overall experience of the book. But I can say, that was not the case.
I am definitely looking forward to more works by the author as I did very much enjoy the writing style.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced audiobook copy.
The Divorcetante is a fun second-chance romance with a messy reality TV show vibe that kept me entertained. Heintzelman does a good job showing how hard it is to bounce back after divorce, and I appreciated the nod to Black culture with the "spades" comment. The main character's voice was amazing to listen to in the audiobook. I loved seeing Ebony work to rebuild her career as an event planner after her divorce, especially when she gets the chance to plan her ex-brother-in-law's wedding. The characters weren't always believable, though. The ex-mother-in-law was way over the top - like, who has time for all that drama and scheming?! Also, Ebony having a life coach instead of a therapist felt so unrealistic, but I guess it fit the storyline since they were all supposed to be rich people. Despite the character issues, it's an entertaining read about starting over.

I think I could have Midnight Michael talking about waterfalls and chandeliers on my ears for hours, days, weeks even months
More than narrated by J.Y. Kora and Midnight Michael I'd call it brought to life by them. The Divorcétante is a fun and spicy romcom that's perfect for a summer read.
From Ebony's rebrand to her learning to deal with internet trolls and her terrible ex-husband and ex-mother-in-law to whirlwind romance with a man that knows how to use his fingers and has more to offer than a "missionary Monday" i was utterly entertained
The over uses of the word debutante was a bit meh for me tbh but it's nothing I could get pass to enjoy this book

Is there life after scandal? This is the question this story posed for me. The main character Ebony has to rebuild her life and find her own identity while being forced into the spotlight. I enjoyed how the author developed the characters, plot, and twist that kept me engaged throughout the book. The narrators were inviting and added drama and intrigue to the story. Whether you’re in a loving relationship or getting over a heartbreak I believe this story will resonate with readers. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

This book gave money, drama, scandal!
In a way it kinda reminded me of The Great Gatsby (rich people scene type of feel).
All about Ebony keeping her head held high in the midst of her husband cheating on her and finding herself as well as finding a new love.
Lincoln, being your fine self over like whaaat 😮💨 He is just perfect for her.
Both narrators did a fantastic job of portraying each character perfectly

The narrators did a good job with the characters. The dialogue was smooth and engaging.
Ebony and Lincoln met in college. They shared a moment but she chose her now ex husband.
The characters were interesting and realistic as far as fiction goes.
It’s about starting over and finding yourself. Ebony had to reinvent herself after her divorce. This is her journey and growth to the other side. And what a journey it is. It’s messy and funny and full of drama.
This is small town drama with all the usual suspects. The rich family, the secrets, the pettiness and revenge. It was a fun listen. It was like an old soap opera or small town reality show. I loved it and all its messy glory. I especially enjoyed Ebony’s chance to use her voice and speaking up to her mother and the self proclaimed queen bee.
I loved the end and how things came together.
The supporting cast was great. They both had friends that were very supportive of them. The meddled when needed. They will definitely make great future stories.

This was messy and fun.
It's always fun when entitled rich people think they're doing their big one. So you come for the messy plot, but you stay for Ebony's character arc.
She blossoms. Full stop.
And that journey she goes on, from mess to flourishing, is everything I love about Black romance. Mia Heintzelman's writing style is addictive and approachable and exciting. And that isn't to take anything away from the relationship that is built in the book with Lincoln. From a rocky start, to trying to deny their attractions to each other, and their chemistry, it was a very fulfilling read. You root for them as individuals and as a couple, easily.
It was a great time, and I highly recommend both physical and audio copies. They're both fun, flirty times!
