I like everything Brene Brown writes, and I like her as a person. Sure, you know a lot of what she says and it makes sense and the whole book could probably summed up in a A4 format page, but I like stories and snippets of other people's lives. Do I releate to everything she shares? Of course not. It's the kind of book that you either like or you don't.

Brene Brown’s work is timely, and valuable—I think most people would glean something incredibly valuable from this book. Her insights have changed the lives of several people I know personally.

I was told that this is Ms Brown's most beachy read, and I am inclined to agree. Meaning: the book deals with some of the most important topics, which are the aspects and issues connected with rising back after the fall or failure. And it deals with it with "user-friendly", non-academic approach.
I am not trying to be harsh or ironic, but this is my definition of a chick lit of quality. Liane Moriarty, anyone?

And yet - while I consider this book being just a self-help book in disguise, still it contains some very sharp wisdom, insights and food for thought well above the average. As I am now holidaying at the sea, I will compare the book to the morning beach, full of sea plants, birds and even some rubbish (all the privilege and guilt because of it are strange for an European like me), yet there are some lovely sea shells there, too. And, unlike my beach, some contain pretty valuable pearls.

So who am I to judge my teacher and the way of teaching, if I truly have gained wisdom and information?

Brene Brown has done it again. She makes it okay for readers to be vulnerable and honest in their truths. She encourages you to try, fail, and then try again. This book reminded me of a very important lesson, "we either win or we learn, we don't ever truly fail."

I picked this book to read for a challenge in the genre of self help and sadly it wasn't good enough to finish it. But to be honest, self help is my genre at all.
