This was so cute!! OMG.

This was my first book by this K. Bromberg, and it will not be my last! The story, the characters, the emotion?! All of it, PERFECTION. Hardy was such a sweethearted grump. The love he has to share for Whit is perfect, and it was so sweet watching it play out the way that it did. I love these two together.

I really enjoyed Lucky Shot! I’m always a sucker for the “asshole with a heart” type or the guy who fights the feelings but can’t help falling for her anyway! The banter was so good, full of chemistry and just the right amount of bite to keep me hooked. I think them giving each other hell is what had sucked in!
The audiobook made it even better! I’m a huge Samantha Brentmoor fan! If she narrates it, I’m in! She was fantastic as always. This was my first time listening to Gary Furlong, and I was seriously impressed. His delivery was spot on and matched the energy of the story perfectly. The accent was a cherry on top!

This book was so good, the chemistry between Whitney and Hardy is off the charts. Hardy, a British soccer star with a bad boy image, needs a PR makeover, which lands him at Whitney’s soccer club for underprivileged kids. He’s cocky and infuriating, but their sharp banter and sizzling tension make for an irresistible romance. As they let their guards down, past wounds surface, and they’re forced to face hard choices about their future. Samantha Brentmoor and Gary Furlong bring Whitney and Hardy to life with an incredible performance, their chemistry and emotional range are spot on as the relationship evolves. Definitely add this one to your TBR!

This was a cute romance with some angst and trauma built in. The main male character is a british futbol star who lives the fast life until it catches up to him and requires a bit of image repair. the main female character has had nothing but loss and disappointment for much of her life.

When pushed together, Hardy and "Lucky Shot" have to decide if their pasts are going to determine their future or will they both step outside their comfort zone and acknowledge the spark that is obviously there.

Thank you to K. Bromberg and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, and K. Bromberg for the chance to listen to this ALC of Lucky Shot! As a huge fan of Samantha Brentmoor, I couldn’t hit play fast enough, and she absolutely delivered. Her voice brings so much personality, sass, and vulnerability to her characters, and she was the perfect match for this feisty, emotional romance. (And Gary Furlong? Total bonus, his accent and delivery were chef’s kiss.)

This story has all the makings of a great rom-com: a spicy bad boy/good girl dynamic, delicious tension, forced proximity, and just enough emotional depth to tug at your heartstrings. Alexander Hardy is exactly the kind of arrogant, sexy soccer star you love to hate… until you start falling for him right along with the main character. Their banter was sharp, their chemistry undeniable, and the slow-burn payoff? Worth it.

The bet premise worked well to push the plot forward, and the soccer academy setting gave the story extra warmth and purpose. I really appreciated how both characters grew over time, not just as a couple, but individually too.

It didn’t get a full 5 stars from me only because a few parts felt a bit rushed, but honestly, that didn’t stop me from enjoying the ride.

If you love redemption arcs, witty banter, steamy tension, and heartwarming side characters (the kids were adorable!), this is definitely worth a listen. 💕⚽🎧

4⭐ 3🌶️

I don't normally read soccer stories because I'm not much of a fan of the game. However, I am super glad I picked up the ALC of this book. It was emotional, angsty, funny and an all-round great read. It was obvious that not only did this author know about soccer, but that they knew the elements of a great romance book too.
The character development was fantastic. The spice scenes were light but enough to get the emotion from the scene. The narrators did a wonderful job of portraying the emotion and the accents were fabulous. An all round great sports romance listen!

Big thanks to NetGalley and K Bromberg for a copy of this ALC. This is my honest opinion.

I really wanted to love this one but unfortunately it just didn't work for me. Hardy was such a jerk and just plain mean and I could not get past it. It was too much. I didn't feel the connection between them so I was not able to continue with this one. I had to DNF.

Thank you so much to K. Bromberg and Dreamscape Select | JKB Publishing, LLC for the Audiobook ALC. I love K. Bromberg's books and this one is no different. This was a quick, fun, and spicy listen. The Narrators were perfect! I loved that this was a dual POV. I can't wait to see what K. Bromberg has in store for us next!

This was a surprise treat! This was my first K. Bromberg book and I will definitely be picking up more from her. I enjoyed the backstory and growth of these two characters a lot. The banter between the MCs was great. They drove each other crazy in the best way and the chemistry was there! The way he cared for her and went out of his way to make sure everything was handled with the soccer program made me squeal. I love a good "only soft for her" MMC and this delivered!

I love Samantha Brentmoor and this was no exception. She is such a great narrator, and one of only a few that doesn't make me cringe when hearing them voice the male POV, ha! The male narrator, Gary Furlong, was new to me but the accent was PERFECTION. He could read my grocery list and I would be just fine! I want more like this!

This was a fun, spicy listen with all the sports romance goodness you'd expect—enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and lots of soccer. I’m not usually a fan of the “rich guy showers poor girl with gifts” trope, but Hardy earns it by putting in the work too, not just throwing money around. His growth throughout the book was satisfying to watch. Both narrators did a great job bringing the tension (and heat) to life. Solid pick if you’re in the mood for something steamy with a sporty twist.

Samantha Brentmoor and Gary Furlong!!! Like seriously there is really not much more to say with these two as narrators!! Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for letting me listen to this Audiobook! But ok I will say that this being my first book I listened/read by this author and it blew me away! Like literally blew me away! The Way Whitney broke me and Hardy put me back together was not expected that's for sure!! So yes for me this was a 5-star listen!! Now to find a signed copy to purchase to keep as a trophy!

Thank You NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the Early Listening Copy of my first K. Bromberg Sports Romance. Lucky Shot is done in dual pod with Samantha Brentmoor as Whitney Barnes and Gary Furlong as Alexander Furlong. Both narrators did a great job portraying the emotion for each characters pain and happiness. Both have childhood trauma; her foster care system after her mom lost her battle with drugs and him his father died and his mother remarried and was more obbessed with the money and status then her own son. Both had walls built up and struggled with having someone see them for who they are behind the pain. She needed to find a way to save the soccer academy and he needed to save his reputation. He was told he needed to volunteer at her academy. Without saying more just know it's a rocky ride, plenty of emotions. There is spice and once it starts it's hot!

This was such a fun read about two soccer stars with very different pasts. The story follows our FMC, a prior soccer player whose promising career was cut short by injury. She’s now running her late mentor’s soccer academy and doing her best to stay out of the spotlight… until Hardy.

Our MCC is Hardy, who is not only outlandishly cocky, but a legendary soccer player from England with a reputation for bad decisions and scandalizing headlines. He’s the kind of MMC that makes you swoon. Like, to die for. He’s charming, broody in all the right ways, and he 1000% falls first. Watching him try to prove he’s not just another tabloid story was *chef’s kiss*

As for Whitney, the FMC… I wanted to shake her at times. She had so many walls up and just refused to communicate, even when Hardy was doing everything right and trying so hard to help. I totally understood where she was coming from given her past and everything she had been through but still I wanted to be like girl, just go talk to him!!

There’s not exactly a classic third act breakup, but I wouldn’t call it 100% safe from third-act drama either. It definitely flirts with it. The ending felt a bit rushed to me and I would’ve loved a little more time to let things breathe.

As for the audiobook, 10/10 recommend. The female narrator is one of my absolute favorites (she nails every emotion), and while the male narrator took a bit of time to warm up to, by the end I was totally sold.

Overall, this one was a solid 3 stars for me. Perfect for when you’re craving a sports romance!

There are simply not enough soccer romances out there, but I want a million more like this one! Lucky Shot was so good, I devoured it in a day. Whitney was hard working, caring, humble, and absolutely did not know how to ask for help. Hardy was cocky, rich, and helpful - if ever someone’s love language was acts of service, it was Hardy’s. Their falling in love felt natural and real after their burning tension at the beginning.

The spice was just right for this one. Not excessive in count, but still descriptive and added to the story.

Samantha Brentmoor and Gary Furlong were both great on the audiobook narration. Samantha always manages to infuse emotions into her acting so well, and Gary had the swooniest accent. I don’t think I’ve listened to him before, but I will absolutely be looking him up for future books.

THE WAY I ATE THIS UP...

⚽️ soccer romance
⚽️ forced proximity
⚽️ opposites attract
⚽️ sweet and spicy (open door)
⚽️ Dual POV

Oh wow, I just adored this from the start!! Whitney, our FMC, has had a really tough life, but soccer is the one thing that helped her push through. I loved the flashbacks we got of her life in the past, they really made you route for her throughout this whole story. Hardy, our MMC, a star soccer player with the reputation of a bad boy, finds himself at Whitney's soccer camp to help out after some bad PR hits the news cycle. What unfolds are two people who have experienced their own bouts of trauma, who butt heads and push each others buttons, and ultimately heal each other (with a side of crazy chemistry ❤️).

Some parts of the story that I liked were the audiobook narrators, Whitney's "flashback" moments where she remembers her mentor, and . I was sort of disappointed by the romance partly because the transition of Alexander being mean to nice wasn't really that satisfying.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an audiobook arc.

This book was a decent sports romance read. There were some parts that frustrated me, but then I thought deeper into my life that what others do or don't do also frustrate me. For example, it frustrated me that both of the MCs didn't see a therapy even thought there were multiple things that would position someone to go see a therapist. On the FMCs side she grew up in and out of different foster homes which, I think people need to see a therapist because that in itself can be a big trigger. I felt there was a lot of deeper topics (which I don't mind) but I thought the MCs could use some therapy.

The MMC was one that I had a harder time with just because he started the book as a complete a-hole but towards the end he was better. He was very condensing towards people and that is just a little bit of an ick for me (in general)

I think what increased my rating was that I enjoyed the narrators, Gary Furlong and Samantha Brentmoor. They did a great job with this book and even though the book felt like it droned on and on, I was still able to listen and enjoy how they brought it to life.

Thank you NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to dreamscape select and NetGalley for this audio arc.

This was an excellent audio arc. Samantha Brentmoor is one of my favorite, if not my fave female narrators in the audiobook game. Her voice is just so soothing to listen to! She could recite the ABCs over and over and I could listen and fall asleep!

She and Gary made the story come alive and I loved every second.

After the loss of her beloved mentor, Whitney steps up to run the struggling Prestige Soccer Academy—a place that once gave her hope during her years in foster care. Now she’s determined to give that same safe haven to underprivileged kids, using soccer as a way to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

When she sends a heartfelt letter requesting equipment for her underfunded team, it lands in the hands of the Miami Mahem Soccer Club. Hardy—a temperamental UK soccer star sent to the U.S. to help make soccer more appealing to American audiences. After punching a paparazzo, Hardy is in hot water with his team’s management. They see this as the perfect PR opportunity: visiting Whitney’s academy will not only help clean up Hardy’s image, but also bring some much-needed positive attention to the U.S. team he plays for.

But Hardy ditches the visit, claiming to be sick—only to be spotted later that night partying at a club. Whitney doesn’t let it slide and confronts him head-on. Intrigued by her fire and the fact that she doesn’t fall for his charm, Hardy shows up the next day and challenges her to a live-streamed bet. Whitney nails the shot, and Hardy finds himself stuck mentoring her team for a month.

As they clash over their vastly different worlds, the chemistry between them becomes impossible to ignore. What begins as a PR stunt quickly turns into something much deeper—for both Hardy and Whitney.

Narration-wise, Samantha Brentmoor once again proves why she’s one of the best in the game. She brings such heart and emotional depth to every character. Gary Furlong is new to me, but I really enjoyed his take on Hardy—his voice suited the role perfectly, bringing out Hardy’s charm and complexity.

This book is very emotional and sweet. While the romance was fun and cute it also had a lot of emotional moments as well. Both the MCs had rough upbringings for different reasons but watching them be able to support each other was wonderful. I love K’s writing and how invested I get in the characters. Definitely recommend if you wanna shed a good tear or two!

Audiobook: the narrators were both perfect for these roles and did such a great job!
