Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this ALC.
This was a bad boy/good girl, forced proximity, sports romance. The narrators did a great job, Samantha Brentmoor is one of my favorites!
The story was a bit slow paced for me. The storyline didn't really start grabbing my interest until about 55%.
I did love the concept of the story but it just telt a little longer than I would have liked.

I love K. Bromberg, so I was super excited to check this book out. I also haven’t read a soccer sports romance in forever, so this was refreshing.
I loved Whitney and Hardy. They were both so damaged and overcame their terrible upbringings. Their chemistry was so good and the spice was the perfect amount.
The audio narration was fantastic as well.

The Lucky Shot by K. Bromberg was a quick read, sports romance. It featured one of my favorite narrators, Samantha Brentmoor, which is always a plus! At first glance of the cover, I actually thought this was going to be a hockey romance, but soccer is definitely the main sport here between the characters.
The story centers around Hardy, a famous soccer player caught in a scandal. To clean up his image and get some positive press, he volunteers for a kids' camp run by Whitney. Whitney is instantly annoyed with him, especially after he ditches on the very first day. Hardy does show some good character growth throughout the book, which was nice to see. However, once he falls for Whitney, he struggles to understand that his way of showing affection makes Whitney feel like she isn't earning the opportunities she's getting on her own merit, which creates some interesting tension.
There was only a small percentage of the book where they were genuinely annoyed with each other and in an enemies-to-lovers dynamic. The rest was more about them working their way into a new relationship, navigating little arguments, spiraling a bit, and learning about each other and themselves along the way. Honestly, I didn't fall completely in love with these characters. It was a good book, but just not the best for me personally. I'd give it 3 stars because while it was an enjoyable sports romance, nothing really unique about it made it stand out from others in the genre.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review. Release date 6/25/25.

This is my first audiobook with the male narrator. He did amazing and can't wait to listen to more of his books.
I have to state the obvious. Hardy is a total prick that loses his temper a little to much at points. But Whitney gives it right back to him. She wasn't scared to go toe to toe with him when he doesn't show up for the kiddos at her school. Hardy wasn't used to that so of course that intrigued him.
Both of them are broken from their childhoods. It takes a while for them to overcome some of those issues. You could feel like change in Hardy but it took Whitney a whole hell of a lot of time.
There is a thin line between love and hate. This book is what they are talking about. I went from laughing to crying so I would for sure recommend the audiobook.
A micro trope that I will eat up every singe time is when he takes care of her when she is sick. Hardy for sure went above and beyond for her.
Thank you to K. Bromberg, NetGalley, and Dreamscape for the ALC.

These narrators are phenomenal! As always, Samantha Brentmore flawlessly swaps betweens voices and accents. I wasn't as familiar with Gary Fulrong going into this, but I did very much enjoy his performance and may look for other books narrated by him. The story is told in Dual POV, with each chapter being performed by one narrator.
This story is about two people who at first think their lives and childhoods couldn't be more different, but come to find they have way more in common than they thought.
I appreciated that while this is a sports romance, and one of the MCs is a professional athlete, the story revolved more around "ordinary" people's relationships to soccer/football. This allowed me to connect to the story on a more personal and emotional level.
Tears were shed a few times as I listened. Some for the MCs childhoods, some for the side characters, and some for the romance of course.
This is the second book I've read from this author, and I will definitely be reading more!
Thank you to Dreamscape Select and #NetGalley for giving me access to this ALC!

I listened to the audiobook. It was dual narration performed by Samantha Brentmoor and Gary Furlong. Samantha Brentmoor done amazing as always. Her ability to bring the characters and their emotions to life is amazing. Her range is the best, even when she’s doing male voices! Gary Furlong, also done amazing. Dreamy, British accent… no need to say more. Prepare to swoon and melt from his voice 🫠
I don’t tend to read or listen to alot of sports romance but , I do enjoy them. This one was good. It wasn’t the typical college based sports romance and I found that refreshing. There was a good plot. The characters were likable and had change and growth. There was chemistry, some spice and a depth to the relationship between Whitney and Hardy. We also got to know their history and the why to certain things about them. They were very different personalities but, they also had alot of similarities. Both of the characters had pasts that shaped them but, they found a way through their fears. A way to accept and embrace the love that they end up having for one another. This was a heartwarming, sometimes emotional, fun, steamy, sports romance with a happy ending. It will have you giggling and kicking your feet. I enjoyed it. If you enjoy sports(soccer)romance, good girl, bad boy, close proximity and grand gestures you’ll like this! I give it 4 stars and 2 1/2 - 3 🌶️
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this ALC!

This is a fun, entertaining, roller coast ride of a read. I loved these characters and what they go through to get to their HEA – especially Hardy. He’s such a sweetheart underneath it all and shows it in the best possible ways. I love how they push themselves and each other to be more than they currently are to allow love in. These characters and their story captured my attention from the start and held it until the very last word. That was such an amazing and satisfying ending for these characters – both as individuals and a couple. The story is easy to read and get into.
I enjoyed the audio version of this book and the narrators.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 I enjoy an English accent in my audiobooks. The narrators, Samantha Brentmoor & Gary Furlong, both do a great job including the other accent in their conversations.
🤩 Soccer romance, both in the business, let’s make a deal situation.
🤩 The title—love it and how it comes into play.
🤩 True enemies-to-lovers vibes and banter with unwanted attraction. So much tension.
🤩 Beautiful care-taking—Hardy is total book boyfriend material when he saves and cares for Whitney.
🤩 So real and raw, that give and take that is part of being in a relationship.
🤩 Oh, my heart, the childhood trauma is heart wrenching and so well written.
🤩 I adore Witney’s strength and resilience.
🤩 Who said rules aren’t hottttt? This has mutual self-pleasuring at its best!
🤩 So intimately and vulnerably hot!
🤩 All the feels. I bawled at the jersey moment.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 I mostly believe in the HEA, but I do think they could both use some childhood trauma counseling/therapy.
💫 Hardy was a little mean for my liking when Whitney was struggling with her feelings and decisions.
💫 Did we know we were in Miami?

I loved every minute of this book. All of the feelings (the hard ones that are are result of their pasts, the yearning, the spicy ones) were SO good. I definitely wasn't sure about Hardy at first—he was juuuust on that line of possibly too assholey for me, but I absolutely adored him by the end. The narration definitely added to the experience, too—both narrators did an absolutely phenomenal job.
This was my first K. Bromberg book but I will definitely be reading more!

I was totally consumed by this breathtaking, emotional, and sizzling romance! Alexander Hardy is an arrogant soccer superstar from England who now plays with the Miami Mayhem. After an unfortunate incident, he is in need of a pr makeover. He is assigned to help out at a kids soccer club but he is so angry he doesn't show. Whitney is smart and independent, and works hard everyday to help underprivileged kids feel seen and safe. She had a bright future playing soccer, until an injury took it all away. Now she struggles to keep her club afloat. She was so excited for Hardy to help with the kids and was heartbroken when he didn't show, disappointing the kids. She has lived a life a broken promises so she wasn't going to let Hardy do that again to her kids. When she sees Hardy again, she surprises him by not falling for his easy charm. She challenges him and he wants to prove he is more than his reputation. As they spend time together, he starts to respect Whitney and her coaching, and she sees there is a kind, caring, and generous man under the arrogant facade. Soon the sparks fly and the tension between them is electric. Hardy also bonds with the kids as they help him remember why he loves the game so much. But as his time in the states is coming to an end, will they fight for each other or will they both suffer from more broken promises? I was completely captivated by these beautifully written characters, who were perfectly flawed, and their moving story that is filled with so much emotion and love, that I couldn't put it down. Alexander and Whitney were so wonderful together, supporting each other, and helping each other heal and grow, and their lively banter and the push/pull between them made their chemistry explosive! Alexander and Whitney's poignant story isn’t easy but it is so worth the journey.
Gary Furlong and Samantha Brentmoor's narration was fantastic. They really captured every nuance of these characters. Their depth of emotion, and delivery created a realism that was completely captivating, and I was totally mesmerized by their performance.
This is a beautiful, amazing, emotional, and swoony love story that took my breath away and stole my heart as it held me captive until the very last word and beyond!

I really enjoyed this audio book, it was a bit slow to start but I couldn’t stop reading after those first few chapters.
The narrators were excellent and loved them! They were the perfect pick.
The story was believable and I believe they handled the ptsd and storyline well.

This was pretty good! Samantha Brentmoor and Gary Furlong were fabulous narrators that brought this spicy enemies to lovers to life. I enjoyed their portrayal, and I especially enjoyed Hardy and Whitney’s push and pull. They’re constantly arguing, and that brought quite the explosion of chemistry. It felt a lot like her last series I read, despite being soccer instead of F1, but I still enjoyed the story and narration!

Soccer romances are so underrated, and Lucky Shot is exhibit 2 (Kulti being my forever favorite lol).
I absolutely adored this good girl, bad boy soccer romance. Hardy and Whitney were freaking perfect; their back stories were heartbreaking, their banter was epic, and the spice was divine. I seriously couldn't get enough of them and loved watching them fall in love.
The found family themes are so strong in this one too, and as one of my favorite tropes, it had my heart warming something fierce. These kids Whitney is going to bat for on the daily were so special and incredibly lucky to have her on their side. I really enjoyed watching Hardy fall in love with them too.
The audio was perfect. Samantha Brentmoor was incredible and Gary Furlong was fantastic as well. I absolutely loved this listen. Thank you so much to Dreamscape Select for this advanced listen.

🎧 AUDIO REVIEW 🎧
This was my first book by this author and I did enjoy it. The audio was good. The narrators did great both the male and female one. It flowed nicely and it was a good listen
The story it’s self I did like I am sucker for sports romance. I loved the emotional aspects in the books. But I did not like Alexander Hardy the MMC he was an asshole and minds redeemed himself but still nope lol. Besides that it’s a cute romance read with some spice thrown in.

super fun and emotional read
The read that makes you feel like dreams can come true. Hardy would do anything for his Lucky Shot and She’s every dream he ever imagined the hate to love, the banter was top tier and the spice did not leave any crumbs.

Alexander Hardy is the bad boy pro soccer player. To improve his reputation after some bad press team management has him volunteer at a local academy for underprivileged kids.
Hardy can't help but start off on the wrong foot with the academy owner and coach, Whitney. He uses his dirty mouth, charming accent, and shameless flirting. But it's his efforts to show up day after day to mentor the kids who idolize him to begin to win over Whitney.
Because of Whitney's past, it's difficult for her to get close to others for fear of them leaving.
Dual narration by Samantha Brentmoor & Gary Furlong. Gary's was perfect to portray the arrogant Hardy. Samantha was great as Whitney and did an amazing job portraying Hardy's British accent.

I received this audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I thought the narrators did a great job. It was done in dual narration style which I’m a fan of. Samantha Brentwood read Whitney’s chapters- she is one of my favorite female narrators and delivered another great performance. The male narrator switched seamlessly from a British accent to an American one.
I was so put off by Hardy at the beginning and was a bit concerned that I wasn’t going to be able to get over my initial dislike of him. But I totally did and I think the main reason for that is his willingness to learn and do better when he knows better. He also falls first which is a microtrope that I enjoy. Whitney is the epitome of a character who has been hurt and disappointed so many times but just keeps going. Her grit, determination, and no nonsense attitude were a great match for Hardy- he needed to be put in his place and to have his eyes opened. I didn’t expect to get emotional but there were a few times I teared up. Hardy shows up and keeps showing up for Whitney which spoke to his emotional intelligence concerning her traumas. He had his own trauma and it was something that strengthened their bond and understanding of one another.

Dual Narration - Gary Furlong & Samantha Brentmoor
Fabulous narration! I absolutely love Samantha!!
Not going to lie the pretty cover is what drew me to this book and then I saw the narrators and had to listen!
I truly fell in love with these characters. Whitney is a hard working former foster kid who found a sport and a roll model in a man who ultimately saved her as a child. Hardy grew up with money and privilege but with a mom who chose his step dad over him. These two have lived two completely different lives but have found something in each other that they desperately needed.
This is sweet and spicy, witty banter and oh so swoon worthy. I loved Hardy! I would definitely recommend this audiobook!

4.5 rounded to 5 stars
I'm a huge fan of Kristy Bromberg's and when I read the blurb about Lucky Shot, it immediately made me think of Lennox and Rush from Hard to Hold and knew I had to read it. I was so excited that we had cameos from both in this book. Side note: If you haven't read the Play Hard series, please go back and read those because they seriously do not get enough love on TT.
⚽ Sports romance

⛓️💥 Broken MCs who heal each other
Lucky Shot is about Hardy (Alexander) who's a bad boy soccer super star in need of a rehabbed reputation so he's sent to help underprivileged kids at a soccer academy that happens to be owned by Whitney. After blowing them off, Hardy ends up committing to help out at the soccer academy for a month and while Whitney and him loathe each other and butt heads non-stop, their undeniable chemistry gets the best of them. I will be honest and say that I was 100% sure I was gonna hate Hardy the entire book. I spent a good portion of the book hating that dude but he for sure turned it around.
Whitney and Hardy grew up completely different (poor girl/rich boy) but they are both a little broken and while in dire need of love (and some therapy), they have spent their lives either avoiding or pushing people away. As they grew closer, Hardy got me on his good side with his acts of service and his support of Whitney. The last 20-25% of the book was my favorite and I'm such a sucker for a sweet epilogue. If you love sports romance, you'll def want to read this.
I was planning to eyeball read this but was lucky enough to get a copy of the audiobook before it releases on 6/25. This was narrated by the wonderful Samantha Brentmoor (I swear, every audiobook I listen to lately is Samantha and I'm not mad about it) and Gary Furlong who did a wonderful job. Only thing that would've made this better was a duet vs dual.
