I picked up this book, albeit a little concerned that it would be one of those gross mangas- it was not! Turns out I didn’t see who the publisher was (Random House Children’s Books).

So far this is a really cute Manhwa (Korean Manga/Graphic Novel) about a middle schooler who one day wakes up and finds herself in an internet novel, and how she navigates her new world. Although it’s technically for teens, it was a refreshing a good read as an adult from some of the other mangas in the same genre (iykyk). I can’t wait for the next volume to come out because I need to know what happens next. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children’s Books for this ARC!

The first half of this volume had me worried it would be exactly the same as every other story I've read like this, but it really picked up in the second half. I liked watching the main character accept her situation and start trying to make the best of it. There's a little back and forth near the end of this volume that had me a little confused, but otherwise it kept me interested. There are some really great comedic moments that I enjoyed. I'd like to learn more about the other characters, and am excited to read more.

When Dani wakes up one morning, she finds she’s in a fictional world. She goes to school to find that her school has changed. Her new friends, the beautiful Yeoryung and four good-looking guys, seem to be from an internet novel she’s been reading. Determined to have nothing happen to her as a side character, she tries to stay out of the way. As she tries to figure out how to get home, she soon realizes it’s not so easy to stay out of the way. Will she find her way home? What plot twists and turns will she encounter?

Engaging, humorous, and unique, readers will find themselves drawn into the novel. The illustrations are muted and novel-like. The characters are likable, engaging, and fun to follow throughout the book. The world building is well done and draws the reader into the novel. Readers who like humor, realistic fiction, magical realism, and manga will want to pick this one up. Recommended for library collections where Korean manga and graphic novels are popular. 5 stars, Gr 7 to 12.

I heard about this webtoon years ago when it was still getting serialized (many English readers called it Inso's Law), so I'm so happy there's an official English translation and that I got the chance to read an early copy!

Dani is your average teenage girl who loves webnovels... Until the day she gets summoned into a reverse harem as the female lead's best friend-- so she thinks! Knowing that she's living in a fictional story makes it hard for her to create genuine relationships with the archetypal four hot guys and her beautiful friend, but as time goes on without a clear way out in sight, Dani has to decide how she wants to live her webnovel life.

I enjoyed the way the chapters jumped around to the last when Dani first got transported to the web novel world and to the present where Dani and her webnovel friends' relationships are more established. The dual plotlines kept the tension taut and made me want to fly through the chapters while suspending my belief since the webnovel teleportation is not explained in this first volume (not that it necessarily needs to be for a fun story).

I'm definitely going to hunt down the next volume when it releases!

Thank you to Random House Children's and Netgalley for the review copy.

This is a pretty cute isekai with a reluctant fmc whos trying to get home at least at first.

Shes cute she’s cynical but shes open to let the characters work their way into her heart.

I think this being the set up book I might enjoy other books down the line as a stand alone we get a lot of threads that don’t really have pay off. I.e. Multiple fights that aren’t revealed to the reader in a way that feels less like storytelling structure and more like dragging the story out in order to make a webtoon longer by withholding information.

That being said i think it will really pick up down the line and i would pick up another volume.

Fingers crossed thats it’s actually a little gay and not just teasing us !

This was an interesting read. I may be interested in the next ones but am unsure. It depends on where the love story ends up going.

I love funny and romantic manga. I thought this was very cute and the plot is unique. I wouldn’t say it was the smoothest writing, felt a little clunky or repetitive at times if I’m comparing it to manga I’ve purchased. The time jumping jarred me at first a little as well. Overall I did enjoy it. I think the characters are adorable and I am interested enough that I’d read more. I’m curious if the “main character”, who is ironically considered the side friend in her mind, ends up with anyone surprising.

This is the story of Dani, who suddenly becomes a character in an Internet novel.
The story plays with typical manga stereotypes and it’s fun that Dani is aware of them, but the story was still a bit clichéd.
Overall this was an entertaining read.

I read the first few chapters of this online, and it was nice to have a refresher on those as I read. I forgot just how much I love it. The MC interacts with the world in such a fun way since she doesn't restart her life in another world or novel, but instead, she keeps her life for the most part... but it's in a novel-like setting and she's the supposed side character in it with a best friend and middle school she doesn't remember. Otherwise, it may as well be a new day for her. And because of that, she acts as such a great foil to the entire situation and I LOVE it.

All of the characters fulfil their archetype while also being great additions, made even greater by all of the MCs knowledge on tropes/archetypes. Plus you see the ways they interact with her, and it really has you side eying if she really is just the side character of it all. Especially given the way her best friend interacts with her.

Overall, it's so fun and campy and adorable (with hot guys all around), and I definitely want to pick this webcomic back up 👌🏼💖

If you have read enough manga (especially Shojo Beat), you know the stereotypical FMC, a couple of love interests, the “will they, won’t they” trope—but WHAT IF…suddenly you lived THIS?! Just dropped into a new world without any context. left to fend for yourself, navigate relationships you didn’t even know you had. This is Dani’s life now.

I just finished My Life As an Internet Model, Vol. 1. I actually picked it up to calm myself before surgery yesterday (even if my husband teased that comics don’t count as “real” reading, haha). It’s a cute, light read with an intriguing premise—the FMC suddenly finds herself living inside a comic book. I’m still curious to discover why, but I’m hooked enough to keep going. The art is pretty, the characters feel nostalgic, and since the story begins in middle school, it brought me right back to my own teenage years. So far so good. Definitely a fun read.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Children’s book for the ARC.

This is one of my all-time favorite webtoons, so I was quite excited to see that it was getting a print run and to re-read the beginning chapters.

It was really interesting to see the subtle changes that have been made for this edition.

This is classic manga variety reverse harem high school romance, perfect for fans of Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club.

My Life as an Internet Novel, Volume 1 is a fun and carefree take on being isekai'd into a new world. Dani, the main character, is a observant and kind and the rest of the cast adds heartfelt moments to the cast. The illustrations and artwork in this volume are vivid and add depth to each of the characters. There is a bit of a time jump but it fits cohesively into the narrative.

This book is targeted to 12+ but I think many webtoons fans regardless of their ages would enjoy this book.

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I went into this story expecting silliness and nostalgia, and that's exactly what I got.
Did it move super quickly and a tad chaotically? Yes. But I was prepared for that.
Was it absolutely ridiculous and cringe at moments? Yes, but I loved it for that!
I'm curious to see when Dani gives in and accepts this is her life, it's been 3 years already, how much longer does she need!? And how that will effect the story and her relationships with the Handsome Kings.

3.5 review, rounding down here on netgalley & up where I can on other platforms

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC of this Manga.

Dani wakes up one day and soon discovers she’s in an internet novel story. Shes confused and doesn’t really know what happened or why. Unfortunately, we don’t ever get an idea in this first volume.

There is also a mention of a fight that she can’t remember with her “best friend” and that’s not answered either.

This jumps forward three years pretty quickly and a lot of stuff is just glossed over. We get a flashback and hints of things that happened in the last 3 years so I’m wondering if as the story goes on we will see more.

If that’s the case I can kind of see why they might have decided to do that, but the execution isn’t quite there in this one. Hopefully with more volumes it’ll come together a little better.

The artwork is beautiful and the characters are interesting. I have some ideas on where the story might be going and will definitely read the next volume.

Typical manhwa. The MC gets transported into another world (a web/internet novel) and becomes either the protagonist or a side character. Super mainstream. I thought it’d at least be little exciting, but honestly it’s just ... meh. Handsome, cute male characters, but none of them stand out, and the MC of course doesn’t want to join any conflict yet somehow always gets dragged into everything. What felt a bit weird to me is that they’re middle schoolers, like 14 years old??? Be fr guys, at least make them high schoolers. Personally I don’t like it when the characters are minors, but yeah, nothing special about this manhwa.

As a fan of internet novels, how could I not give this manga a try? It has all the right ingredients — the four handsome heroes, the beautiful girl character, and the appropriately brown haired side kick who is, of course, our main character, Dani.

Dani’s growing realization and horror that she’s in some sort of internet novel is followed by her bemusement as she realizes it really is just like some cheesy soap opera. Because she’s aware of the genre conventions, she acts — at least as far as other characters are concerned — oddly, especially in the beach confrontation in book two, which was really the best part of this book, and the funniest. Add to that her obliviousness about certain characters romantic feelings and it’s all just a well done satire as well as being an engaging story.

If you’re a fan of the genre, this should be well worth the read, though this only collects the first two volumes of the series, which means you — and I — will have to either wait for the next collection, or just head out to grab book number three.

Thank you so much to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC!

"My Life as an Internet Novel" is a short and easy read. I tend to read a lot of isekai novels so I had a slight idea of how this comic would play out. Surprisingly, the plot just kept on plotting! I don't know fully where the story is going, which isn't a bad thing. I do believe that the next installments in the series will clear things up. The target age group will probably have a lot of fun reading this!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this arc!

Ahhh!! I’m so excited that this webtoon is finally being published in America!! I first heard about it YEARS ago, and was able to follow along with some of it, but obviously there was a language barrier and I’ve just been waiting for the day it would get translated and published! I will say, the beginning definitely throws you right into it, which is a bit confusing at first—but, the set up goes by fast and then it’s such a fun read!! And THE SHIPS!! AH! I am so excited!! Definitely recommend this for anyone who loves a good romance webtoon\manga!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Graphic for an ARC. All opinions are my own.

I’m obsessed, I'm obsessed, I'm OBSESSED!

This is such a cute series and I love how fun and kinda campy it is. I loved Dani and Yeoryeong’s friendship and I am really hoping they’re end game because I love them so much together. Though admittedly, my favoritism towards Yeoryeong is probably because this volume focuses much more on Dani’s friendship with her, than her potential romantic prospects with any of the “four heavenly kings” (which is such a delightfully cringey title).
