Great book! Kept my attention throughout the entire book! Great twists, all the way until the end that’ll keep your brain going! Wish it was longer, but it ended great!

Joe is a backpacker and hears about the No-End House and is intrigued. Joe is tormented by his wife's death. He meets mysterious Helen who talks him into the No-End House challenge. The house seems to know his dark secrets and feed his fears. The escape rooms were unique and you could feel a sense of building dread. The ending was definitely unexpected.

This one wasn’t really for me. I enjoyed the beginning and then I started to lose interest. Had a hard time finishing it. I wanted to like it but it just wasn’t for me.

I unfortunately did not enjoy this. I tossed up for a while whether or not to review it because it technically was a DNF for me but I think it’s best if I say why.
I was very intrigued at the beginning of the book but honestly it just kept getting weirder and weirder and I just feel like the description of what this book was, was not what I got. It got to a point where the strange nature paired with the misdirection of what I thought the book was going to be just got too much. There’s so much about this that really doesn’t make a lot of sense.
I didn’t feel any attachment to the characters in this one, and the looming threat of their death didn’t really make me feel one way or another for them which is a shame.
I did the audiobook arc for this one, and did enjoy the narrator I just feel the book itself wasn’t for me.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this one

I enjoyed this adventure. It was like a season of multiple Doctor Who episodes not knowing what the scene was going to be next. The visuals the book created for each scene was imaginative, just wish more time was spent on each ambience.
* ARC * Thank you RBmedia and Netgallery!

Jeremy Bates delivers another chilling novel with "The No-End House". A novel that challenges its characters to enter a haunted house challenge filled nightmares is filled with psychological horror. The story follows Joe, who is traveling around the world, doing his best to work through the pain of losing his wife. Joe meets Helen at a hostel and they spend some time together and he tells her he over heard a group talking about a challenge that pays handsomely if you win. Together they enter a mysterious haunted house rumored and is given the opportunityto complete nine rooms and they will win a cash prize upon completion.. As they move through its increasingly twisted rooms, reality begins to unravel, forcing the characters and the reader to question what's real and what's an illusion.
Bates excels at building tension and creating a claustrophobic atmosphere. The concept of the house is undeniably creepy, unreal, and the suspense keeps the pages turning. However, the pacing drags in the middle, and some character decisions feel contrived or underdeveloped.
"The No-End House" is a fun, eerie ride for horror fans who enjoy haunted house tales with a surreal twist. It doesn’t reach the heights of Bates’ best work, but it offers enough intrigue and frights to make it worth a visit, just don’t expect to leave unscathed, that is if you can survive.

The audiobook is really good, but unfortunately I didn't like the novel itself. It has a good start but things didn't go as I've expected. The plot revolves around a mysterious haunted house attraction.
Unsettling: 1
Scariness: 0
Intriguing: 0
Overall, it's a 2 ⭐ read for me.
Thank you Netgalley, RB Media for the audiobook

I was so invested in this story for about the first 1/3 of this book and was trying to get into it. The pacing was really slow and for a haunted house story with threats of death you would think this would be faster paced. The audiobook narrator was good, but overall this just fell flat for me.

Any horror fans this is for you
Joe goes travelling (walking) round the world after the gruesome death of his ex wife and overhears some other travellers in Barcelona talking about a haunted house challenge...
Ilove a haunted house, challenges, strange characters and questioning reality and this was all that!
Definitely not a masterpiece as it did feel a little ridiculous at times but it was fun to listen to and I will say I think it'd make an interesting film
Thanks @netgalley and RB Media for the audio arc

An escape room/horror that I thoroughly enjoyed. Joe is travelling the world after the death of his wife, he meets Helen in Barcelona and they go to this escape room house only nine rooms to get through. All sorts of weird thing happen. Good plotting and chracters. The narration by Joe Hempel was good and paced well. Thanks to RB Media and Netgalley for this review audiobook.

I appreciate the opportunity to have gotten my hands on this one. Unfortunately I wasn't able to read in time for the publication date
This book fell anlittle flat for me unfortunately. I found the characters unlikeable. This may have been intended by the author but I disliked them in such a way that I didn't want to think about them rather that intently disliking them for a purpose. I found this to be a bit long winded for me but I can see why it would be a book many people would love

A mixed bag in terms of quality, but certainly an entertaining read.
The things that seemed to bother a lot of reviewers about this book didn’t particularly bother me. As someone who only likes camp/popcorn modern horror, I appreciated that this wasn’t especially gory and never gets too torture-forward. It’s light violence, and I consider that a positive.
I also wasn’t at all bothered by the infamous dinosaur, which I thought was funny and delightful. Where the book lost me a bit was with the ending, which involved a forced and somewhat predictable twist that I didn’t love, and also the relationship between the protagonists, which I don’t think worked all that well.
Those things aside, I liked the puzzle/maze aspect of this, appreciated its moments of levity, and I thought the reveal midway through the book of how the house functions was actually quite good.
In all, a solidly entertaining read, and great for those who enjoy a good scare but don’t like when things get too visceral and grotesque.

What a trip!! A fun and mind-bending take on the haunted house genre, "No End House" by Jeremy Bates offers a different spin on the usual tropes. While the story is definitely a little out there, its unique approach keeps you engaged from start to finish. The production was great, making it an easy and enjoyable listen—even at increased speeds, which is a big plus for anyone who constantly speeds up their audiobooks. A solid 3.5-star read for quick, but super satisfying horror tale. The narrator did a great job jumping between genders and accents, as well as setting up long-lasting tension.
Thank you, Tantor and Kensington for this ALC!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC in exchange for an honest review. I know this review is coming in much later than the publication date and so it's essentially not an advanced copy for me anymore but my review would make the delay make sense.
Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me at about 70% in. .When I requested The No-End House I really did think I was going to love it because an eerie, psychological escape room-style horror is something that's right up my alley! However it ended up not really meeting my expectations. and the more I tried to listen to the audiobook the more I realized that it was just gradually but definitely losing me.
Some aspects were truly interesting like the backstories related plotlines and how the house was targeting different areas of the two characters personal lives but the dialogues often felt clunky and I just wasn't feeling the characters themselves. Some of their conversations, especially in the beginning literally did feel like they were written by a third party and not actual conversations between two people. And then the absolutely bizarre shift to dinosaurs honestly killed the entire atmosphere for me.
I feel like the book might’ve benefited from being shorter and tighter, because I definitely would've pushed towards completing it, instead of giving up the way I did.

Thank you to Tantor Audio and Netgalley for this audio arc!
Joe is trying to grieve his wife's death by traveling around the world. In his travels, he hears of a haunted house that promises $5000 for anyone who can make it through. Nearby, he meets a woman named Helen who convinces Joe to take the bait and enter the haunted house. The catch? If they lose, they forfeit their souls.
To begin, the narrator does a good job with his narration. The pace and cadence are perfect. I'm personally one who listens to books at 3x speed, and I could understand and make out everything perfectly.
A lot is happening in this book. It reminds me of Phantasma by Kaylie Smith (which is a recent favorite) but without the romance plot. It's not necessarily horror in the traditional sense, but it does give an intense vibe. The house draws on your fears and brings them to life. I don't think I would personally label it as horror, more so thriller escape room. The cover is a bit misleading in a sense to me since it gives more of a Saw/masked killer horror movie type vibe. But I did still enjoy this book and it kept me engaged from the dinosaurs to our Mad Hatter character to the giant moths.

Joe Hadfield is traveling the world, trying to deal with the grief of his wife’s grisly death when he hears about the no end house from some backpackers. Nine rooms. A cash prize for making it out of these unique linked escape rooms. When he meets a beautiful stranger, she convinces him to take on the challenge with her. Their mysterious host gets them to sign a mysterious contract, and then the weird things begin. The house knows their fears and secrets, and no one makes it out of no end house.
I chose this one first for the title and secondly for the plot. I love the Creepypasta No End House story from Reddit and the season of Channel Zero that adapted it. His one has a similar plot, so I thought it would be a good choice. While I didn’t love this book, it did hold my interest. It has plenty of twists and turns, and it does well with suspense and tension. With a heaping scoop of paranormal, it’s fascinating and clever at times. Not a bad choice at all for a quick, summer read while longing for Fall and spooky season.

I liked the concept but found myself getting really annoyed with the decisions that joe and Helen were making, I found that i really did not care about them and wished they were more likeable.

Maybe 2.5...I was really enjoying and into the first half of the book. It was building up and then entered.... dinosaurs?? The second half of the book was just not what I was expecting and in a bad way. It was well written, and the audiobook was good to listen to, so I did finish it, but the second half of the book was a letdown.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.
This was a fever dream of a novel. Creepy, mysterious, suspenseful - and dinosaurs? I really enjoyed it and the only reason I’m not going with a higher rating is that I didn’t love the ending. I will absolutely be looking for more from this author.

I enjoyed this read. I always enjoy a messed up game situation that messes with all the characters and your head. This was fast paced and had all of the elements I was looking for from the description.
