Narrators: Corvin King, Rachel Leblang
Narration: Duet
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“He was danger wrapped in a crown and dipped in sin.”
If you’re into dark college romance with morally gray royalty, a heroine with backbone, and a plot that dips its toes into obsession, secrets, and power plays—you’re going to want to one-click The Prince of Power immediately.

This book hooked me from the start, and I’ve already recommended it to my book club. The story pulls you into a world where the stakes are high, emotions run hotter than a bonfire, and trust is a currency no one gives freely. You’ll want to slap some characters, protect others, and probably question everyone’s sanity at least once—but in the best way possible.

Let’s talk narration: Holy moly, Corvin King. He was pure audiobook gold as the male POV—every line dripped with charisma, tension, and danger. I’m a big fan of duet narration, and having each narrator voice their own lines adds so much immersion. While I wasn’t entirely sold on the female narrator (could be the character’s tone or just the delivery), it didn’t stop me from staying locked into the story.

Now, the romantic pacing—this is where I felt a little let down. While the chemistry between the main characters was undeniable, it felt like they were orbiting each other more than actually connecting for most of the book. I wanted more shared moments to ground the intense emotions that develop. That said, if you love slow-burn tension mixed with dark undertones, you’ll probably eat it up anyway.

It’s twisty, dramatic, a bit unhinged, and absolutely perfect for fans of elite university drama with high-stakes secrets. Just know going in—it’s not always realistic, but that’s kind of the point, right?

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the advanced listening copy in exchange for my honest review.

PoP is a deliciously dark romance! 😈✨
I’ve said it before but…mmm…Corvin’s commanding growl as the possessive and morally grayish Damian is enough to make anyone swoon. I did love the banter between Ava & Damian. And their getting to know each other time was actually kind of sweet…most of the time😜

This audiobook is one twisted ride😈. I love that it kept me guessing.

If you love morally gray men & a narrator who’s voice is deep & commanding don’t miss this one—it’s a must-add to your TBR! 🔥🎧

I had gone into this ALC blind, having never read any of this authors books before, and I was pleasantly surprised.

The dark academia cult vibes always win my heart, and it was immediate. While the burn is slow, the power imbalance is strong and starts off from the very beginning.

The fmc, Ava, didn’t get annoying to me at all, like some captives can get. And Damien? Phew. Yes. Might not be some cup of tea, but he sure was mine!

The other characters were very balanced but we didn’t see much of them and that’s totally fine to me. The only two that stood out were Rhett and Kane, and I dislike them anyway, due to how they ended up being in the book.

I could’ve guess the plot twist 10% in but it still made for an amazing ending! Thank god there was no surprise pregnancy trope, or I would’ve lost it. The breeding trope was A+ though.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author for allowing me access to this advanced listening copy!

The Prince of Power by Skyler Mason is a dark, steamy new adult romance that delivers on the tropes fans of the genre crave: a brooding, dangerous hero, Damian Cross, a sheltered heroine, Ava, and the high-stakes world of an elite secret society. The premise is enticing—Damian Cross, the “prince” of Ashford University and heir to a powerful legacy, claims the innocent pastor’s daughter, Ava, as his own, setting up a battle of wills and hearts.

Mason’s writing is fast-paced and atmospheric, with plenty of tension and chemistry between the leads. The dynamic between Damian and Ava, and their push-pull relationship keeps the pages turning. The secret society setting adds intrigue and drama, and the emotional stakes are high.

However, the book leans heavily on familiar tropes without bringing much new to the table. Damian’s possessiveness sometimes crosses into uncomfortable territory, and Ava’s transformation from rule-follower to power-player feels a bit rushed. Some secondary characters and plotlines could have been developed further to add depth.

Overall, this is an entertaining read for fans of dark academia romance and possessive antiheroes. While it doesn’t break much new ground, it delivers a satisfying, angsty escape—just don’t expect too much nuance or originality.

The Prince of Power is a sexy, spicy dark academia romance that centres around a secret society. It ticked every box when it comes to what I love about dark romances. It’s full of danger, intense sexual chemistry, and spicy scenes. It also had plot twists that I didn’t see coming and emotional depth that I didn’t expect, which wasn’t a bad a bad thing. If anything, it gave the story more substance and it had me hooked and obsessed from start to finish.

Damien Cross is all the things I love in a man's character in a dark romance. He was possessive, alpha, protective, callous and calculated which made him a very dangerous and feared man. He’s ruthless and not a man you want to get on the bad side of and I am obsessed with every thing about him.

Ava is a good submissive side, yet she has a bratty side. She may have been submissive but she was also very strong willed. I adored her and she was perfect for Damien.

This is my first book by the author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this. However, when I was the blurb and the fact that it’s a dark romance, I was sold and I was intrigued and I AM SO FREAKING GLAD I TOOK A CHANCE ON A NEW AUTHOR! This is a big reminder to me on why I should try and take more chances on authors I haven’t read before because there are so many amazing and talented authors out there that don’t get the spotlight they deserve!

Highly recommend this!

If you love fantasy romance that’s packed with tension, power plays, and swoon-worthy slow burns—The Prince of Power by Skyler Mason absolutely delivers.
This book is everything we love about the enemies-to-lovers trope, but with real emotional depth. It follows a fierce, exiled princess and a dangerously charming prince who's hiding more than just a crown behind that brooding stare. From their first clash, the chemistry crackles—and oh boy, does it build. The story weaves court intrigue, secrets, and forbidden feelings into one deliciously bingeable experience. And Skyler Mason knows how to write tension—emotional, political, romantic—you name it.
The worldbuilding is so easy to sink into, and the pacing is perfect for readers who love a slow build that pays off in all the right ways. The characters feel real—layered, flawed, and completely captivating. You’ll root for them, yell at them, and maybe fall a little in love with them too.

Let’s talk about the narration—because it’s fantastic. Corvin King and Rachel LeBlang bring so much life and emotion to this story. Rachel nails the strength and vulnerability of the heroine. She’s fierce but layered, and Rachel captures that balance perfectly. Meanwhile, Corvin King’s voice as the prince? Smooth, intense, and absolutely dripping with restrained emotion. His performance makes every scene with him feel electric. Their dynamic really sells the slow-burn romance—you can feel the tension building with every chapter.

The Prince of Power is the kind of story that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. Whether you’re reading it or listening to the audiobook, you’re in for a ride full of feels, twists, and chemistry that’s off the charts. Skyler Mason has delivered a gem for fantasy romance lovers, and Corvin King and Rachel LeBlang make the audiobook an unforgettable experience. 10/10 recommend!

If you’re a fan of Sarah J. Maas, Danielle L. Jensen, Carissa Broadbent, or Elise Kova—this belongs on your TBR now. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys high-stakes romance, powerful heroines, complex love interests, and a fantasy setting that feels both magical and emotionally grounded. Audiobook lovers who enjoy dual narration and character-driven storytelling will especially love the listening experience.

WOW….this book left an impression.

What’s to love…
- Secret Society
- Dark Academia
- Enemies to Lovers
- Twists and Turns
- Spicy delicious good time

The narrators of this book were so good. Corvin King's voice will live rent free in my brain forever. Rachel Leblang and Corvin King brought the banter and tension of the characters to life perfectly. You could feel the tension. I love duet narration because it makes the story seem so much more real, like a movie in your mind.

The plot keep me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Ava is the good girl, raised in church and will do anything for her friends. Damian is dark, controlling and powerful. Initially Damian just wants Ava as a means to get what he wants, but he is drawn to her so powerfully and doesn't understand why. His need for her changes to wanting to possess and protect her at all cost.

I have no idea where this is going but I can't wait for the next book!

Thanks to NetGalley for the advance listener copy!

Thank You NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the Early Listening Arc of The Prince of Power book #1 in the Rich Boys and Their Games series. The Four Hundred is an elite society Ashford's Wealthy and Damion is to run for the highest order. Ava is his claim as the 400 hundreds sacrifice, she is studios and pure as she is the preachers daughter, With both Damion and Ava spending time on an illicit island as children, Damion wonders if she is the same child. She is more powerful with her full heart and he is the angry soul who needs to be in charge. Both Narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life. Corvin King's is perfect for Damion's' voice, dark and brooding, and Rachel Leblang is soft and gentle. While the story does have some darker aspects it is deeply rooted in care and infatuation.

He is her captor and she is his little doll.

If you like a hot dark college romance, then The Prince of Power is going to be your next favorite read. This was a great book with a few surprises and I enjoyed every second of it. I liked both characters and will continue on with the series as it comes out. This was my first book by Skyler Mason and I look forward to reading more. I listened to the audiobook and both of the narrators did a great job. Corvin King’s voice is super sexy. ♥️

I would like to thank Audio ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and NetGalley for giving me an ARC (which did not sway my opinions or review).

Soo.... I think for the right person it could be a good book. For me? Not so much.

If you know it's a cult, you don't join, do you? Especially then when you're wary of it from the beginning.
The fmc didn't make much sense to me tbh, as she said this but did that. The mmc.. I don't know. Sometimes the truth could hit him straight in the face and he still wouldn't know.
For some reason around 25% it became boring as the plot was so obvious it hurt. Did I still have fun every then and now because their ridiculousness was hilarious? Absolutely.

But the narration? Corvin King 👀 and Rachel Leblang did an amazing job.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 | 🌶️🌶️🌶️ | The Prince of Power by Skyler Mason

This book had so much potential, and while it didn’t quite live up to all of it, there were definitely elements I really enjoyed! The secret society angle gave major LORDS series vibes (Shantel Tessier fans, take note!), and I loved the dark, dangerous atmosphere surrounding The Four Hundred—though I do wish we’d gotten more depth and detail about the group itself.

Damian's intense, possessive "touch her and die" energy totally worked for me, and the chemistry between him and Ava was on fire. Their banter was a definite highlight—sharp, fun, and added so much spark to their dynamic. That said, I was left wanting more character development, especially since Damian is meant to be a leader in this mysterious organization. Ava, too, felt a bit underdeveloped—I was hoping to see her grow and push back more as the story progressed.

A huge highlight for me was the duet narration on the audiobook—it brought the story to life and enhanced the tension and spice, which were both top tier. If you're in the mood for a dark romance with strong spice, great banter, and secret society intrigue, this one might be worth the ride!

I enjoyed this audiobook way more than I thought I would. Dark academia/bully romance is not my usual go to, but I got caught up quickly in the story. This was most likely due to the MMC’s narrator, whose voice is super yum. Not overly predictable, and a decent ending to boot. Definitely worth a listen!

***Corvin Kings voice is just so yummy!

Deliciously dark and twisted. This was kind of crazy. Protective and obsessed MMC. Innocent and sweet FMC. If you’re a dark romance lover I think this one’s for you.

The narration did it for me. Loved the voices and so glad it is duet style.

3⭐️

I honestly don’t know if this was a good book, I just know I had a time.

I don’t think it was supposed to be funny, but I was cracking up the entire time. It was giving “so cringe it loops back around to iconic.”

⤷ Damien (the MMC) was unintentionally hilarious. His master plan was to torture her, make her fall for him fast and hard… just for him to fall even harder. This man was down bad, fully desperate to keep her, while she just kept living her chaotic life. She had him whipped without even trying.

⤷ Eva (the FMC)… for someone who’s supposed to be smart, she made some wild choices. Like, girl if you think it’s a cult, why are you enrolling? 😑

The plot? So predictable it almost felt intentional. Like the author said “you know what this is, let’s not pretend.” You could see every twist coming from miles away.

That ending, though? He said “go” and then immediately dropped to his knees begging her to stay, not even two minutes later 💀. Peak entertainment.

Honestly, I had fun. If there’s a sequel, I’m reading it with popcorn.

Wow, this book sent shivers down my spine. This is a rich bad boy/middle class good girl story set in a dark academia with a secret society. At its heart it is a good, dark, romance. But wow, this audiobook, geez, this put Corvin King on my audiobook narrator wish list for sure!
Both narrators are excellent and do a fantastic job, but the deep, commanding growl of the MMC’s voice is enough to melt most female readers.
If you, like me, enjoyed Lights Out, particularly the audiobook of Lights Out, then trust me, you WILL want to put this book on your fast track TBR!
This was my first Skylar Mason book but it will not be my last!
Highly recommend this audiobook. I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

🎧 ALC REVIEW 🎧
The Prince of Power by Skyler Mason

I love dark academia books with secret societies so I was really excited to do an ALC review on this audiobook!
🖤
This book was a duet narration, which is always the best listening experience in my opinion. Corving King could read a toaster manual and make it sound amazing.

What I liked most about this book was the morally grey mmc. He's dark, possessive, toxic, would burn the world for her, takes care of her and is willing to change for her.
🖤
Damian is a powerful rich fraternity kid with secrets, who is about to step into an even more powerful position within his dark organization. In order to do so he must pick a virgin sacrifice.
Ava, a christian girl attending the same prestigious academy suspects her best friend Rhett's fraternity is secretly a cult. In an attempt to uncover the truth she gets caught in Damian's web and he isn't letting her go.

The book leaves you with a lot of unanswered questions.
🖤
There were some elements I didn't care for in this book.
-The nicknames like 'little doll' and 'precious girl' gave me the ick.
-Ava had zero survival instincts and her moral compass was broken for sure.
- The side characters didn't get much personality so it was hard to connect with them.

Was this the best book in this genre? No
Was it entertaining? Yes, I finished it in 2 days
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Prince of Power by Skyler Mason, is the first book into the Rich boys and their games series. (God tier 6 ⭐️)

This book is going to live rent free in my head 24/7 from now on. If you are a fan of any of the Lords, Kort or LOG series you will absolutely fall in love with this book!

This is a dark academia romance with a secret society and rules as old as time.
The FMC, Ava, at the beginning seems meek and naive but she has an absolute amazing ARC and her morals, boundaries and stubbornness gets build, pushed and crafted in an amazing way.
The MMC, Damian, this man will challenge anyone but especially her. He is controlling, a man in power, cold and calculated. The moment he puts his eyes on her he has one goal and one goal only, to make her his at whatever cost. He is not only sexy as a character but will make it impossible not to fall in love with him and his softness for her .

The plot is plotting and the spice is spicing.

Audiobook: we have an amazing performance from two brilliant voices Rachel Leblang and Corvin King. As usual Corvin has dominated the male voices with his God-like voice. Rachel, she was a first for me, and this Goddess deserves to be recognized for her talent and amazing performance of Ava. She incorporated absolutely everything in the FMC essence. Congratulations to both of you for such an amazing job!

Skyler, I can’t wait for the next book! Thank you for this opportunity and ALC!
