I love, love, love!!! this book!

Since I read Glass Kanin by the author I just fell in love with their style of writing, their worldbuiling, their characters and actually absolutely everything about their books. Friendly Fyre was, for me, even better than Glass Kanin, since I love cozy worldbuiling settings.
Fyre, the main character, is reborn as a harpy in this strange fantasy like world and the first group of people she finds and joins believe in her being the reincarnation of their savior, who vanished long ago while protecting their city. Even though Fyre doesn't want to be seen as her, she finds her way to protect and help the city and the people, and gains some unlikely friends on her way.
Fyre is a very kind and optimistic person, I like that very much. Also every other appearing character has a very unique personality, and it's funny and interesting to see how everything develops.

Even though the book is just the beginning of a series it has no real Cliffhanger at the end but rather finishes with a good feeling into an open end to a yet unknown future. Waiting for the next volume is not as hard as a heavy Cliffhanger might have induced, but rather a cozy awaiting of what the characters might find in the next book.

Friendly Fyre is a fun Isekai story about an engineer who dies and gets resurrected in the body of a female harpy underground and finds herself using her magic and engineering knowledge to improve the lives of the dwindling community that takes her in. This story has a fun setting with interesting characters that you grow to love over the course of the book and while the villains are a little flat, it's fun to see them be overcome. The books leaves off in a good place that leaves you excited to see where it goes next. It's part of a larger series, but it's a standalone and I'm definitely interested enough in the world to read the other entries.

I wanted to love this book so badly. It seemed to have a lot of elements that I usually enjoy so I ended up feeling ever so slightly disappointed.

We follow along with Fyre who has just been reborn from a 50-year-old human male to a female harpy. I found it interesting to follow along with her as she not only explores this fantasy world and all the happenings in it, but also her gender identity! This was a fun twist.

The world itself was built well, but I found it at times overwhelming with all of the extra details and information that I feel could have easily been edited out. At times, it read a little bit like a passionate rant, rather than an edited story; this pulled the book down for me which is a shame.

If you’re looking for a sweet queer fantasy, this could be a good book for you!

In this story we follow Fyre, who once was a 50 year old man living on earth, but who is now reborn as a female phoenix harpy. With Fyre, we discover this new world, dealing with all parts of this new reality (gender, regret, hope, and so much more) whilst meeting many different characters to love along the way.

This book was just so captivating! The writing style, and the world building, were both so wonderful; I particularly enjoyed that we discovered more about this magical world alongside of our protagonist, keeping me intrigued at all times.

The trans representation in this book? Outstanding! It was done so beautifully. Throughout the story I couldn’t help but root for our protagonist, and my favourite part must be the wonderful bonds that formed between Fyre and her allies; so heartwarming.

If you enjoy books that cover many layered and emotional topics, but still has a very cozy feeling to it, with beautiful found family; this one is for you!

Thank you Netgalley and Pulsar Publishing for the eARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review!

A delightfully cozy Isikai LitRPG! i loved so much about this book. the worldbuilding was delightful, and even during the most intense parts, you just knew everything was going to be okay. the way the world rises up through the pages was phenomenal, and the characters are all very unique and filled with a larger than life personality. with a highly overpowered magic system that makes everything just a little silly in the best way possible. the whole thing is just a little ridiculous which really helps offset the intense and serious scenes. after all, how can you worry about a war when there's a talking dragon?! the themes of hope and found family make this a beautifully charming book through and through.

Friendly Fyre is a heartwarming entry to the isekai genre, combining that and LitRPG elements into a compelling world.

The story focuses on Fyre, who once was a fifty year old man, now reborn as a noticeably female phoenix harpy. The story wrestles with different elements of this - her gender, those she left behind, and regrets - all with equal weight throughout.

Exploring this new world through her eyes, we're introduced to a wide cast of characters and a variety of species. It's impossible not to root for the protagonist and her allies as they build towards a better future.

I loved the magic system and how the protagonist intertwined it with real world science. It's a fantasy I think a lot of people have had whilst reading isekai stories, and Leep explores that plenty. I found myself captivated by the imagery of the abandoned keep and its technology.

There's also so much left in the world to explore. It makes me excited to follow the characters on their next adventure, to see what they can do and understand this universe more!

Friendly Fyre is such a deep story in so many ways. It goes in depth scientifically into what magic really is, the lore and world building is really interesting as well as the character development, second chances to be the person you want to be. It was a very fascinating read. I alternated laughing and crying throughout.

A 50 year old man dies and wakes up in the body of a female Harpy, in the complete darkness of a cave and only Echo to tell her her role and stats. But it doesn't feel wrong, in fact we like it. Then she stumbles upon a civilization of people living in the caves, just trying to survive, but Fyre reminds them of a great leader they once had that disappeared centuries ago. All she wants to do is help them live comfortably and build trust, and take care of the seven year old in the body of a giant dragon.

What you want to know before picking this one up:
-one of the main characters is literally a giant spider. I’m terrified of those.

This one is COZY TOO. It was giving city of ember mixed with my favorite video game mixed with my favorite urban fantasy books mixed with a giant hug mixed with some chocolate and dancing lights. I will appreciate this book for the serotonin it gave me. Thank you for altering my brain chemistry. I now need to check out more books in this genre and see more works from this author.

The execution, the writing style, the cover, the blurb, 10000/10 for me.

Thank you for allowing me to read this eARC! I am leaving this honest feedback voluntarily.
