I had such a great time reading this book! It pulled me in right from the start and kept me turning the pages. The writing flowed so well, and I found myself completely invested in the story and characters. It’s one of those reads you just don’t want to put down.
huge thanks to the publisher for sending me an early copy!! I’m so glad I got to read it ahead of the release day and can't wait for the world to get to enjoy it too!!

What a gorgeous read! From the illustration to the concept, I felt enamoured and enchanted by this book the whole way through.
It was such a great and delicate window into the troubles of teen life and I loved following the different heartbreaks and how they were all linked through the hotel. This such an inclusive graphic novel too which is so important, there are LGBT relationships (finally!) So that was really refreshing to read. Some of the narratives felt like they jumped like I couldn't tell how Fiona and Danny and Eva's story connected to Alex and Martin but I really enjoyed reading it regardless.
One of my favourite graphics has to the the guess who style graphic where there's literally no one to date - felt very relatable haha. And I really did love this book, my only massive pet peeve was Alex smoking. I feel like this book could definitely appeal to a younger audience so just wasn't crazy about Alex smoking.
Other than that, such a creative concept and unsurprisingly heartbreaking but also wildly reaffirming.

After experiencing heartbreak, four young people wake up to find themselves in a strange hotel where they can live out their days however they please go cope with their grief. But when checkout time comes, they'll have to work together to confront their feelings and cope with what happened to them once and for all.
This was such a unique premise for a graphic novel. The artwork is beautifully effective and the story and characters had me crying by the end. Beautiful work from Micol Beltramini.

What a sweet and great idea for a graphic novel. A world where there is a hotel to recover from heartbreak and a safe space to go through the stages of grief? Sign me up! This was a fantastic read!

Thank you NetGalley for the book arc. I was not expecting it to be a graphic novel when I requested the book, and I must say unfortunately I wasn’t a big fan of the artwork, it was a little cutesy for me. I’m still giving it 4 stars cause it was still a good story of 4 broken hearts in the hotel with all their stories intertwining, cause who wouldn’t like to disappear after their heart has been broken.

Ever wanted to disappear after someone broke your heart? The Heartbreak Hotel gets it — and it’ll do its best to wrap your shattered illusions in a warm blanket.
4 floors, 4 broken hearts, 4 stories that slowly intertwine.
The art? A dream. Soft pastels, delicate lines, that quiet kind of beauty you want to live inside. I loved the vibe from the very first page.
The story, though… didn’t quite land for me. It focuses a lot on pain and healing (which I loved!), but I found myself wishing for deeper character work. A spark. A turning point. Some kind of emotional punch. Instead, it stayed soft — maybe too soft. Sadly, none of the characters really stuck with me — and y’all know I fall hard for fictional people. It just didn’t hit me in the heart the way I hoped it would.
Still, a tender and at times moving read — just not a memorable one. Perfect if you’re in the mood for something gentle and introspective, but maybe not if you’re looking to be wrecked emotionally.

"Have you ever wanted to disappear after someone broke your heart? Heartbreak Hotel knows exactly how you feel, and will do anything to coddle your illusions. But what is the expiration date of a dream? And when you have to return to reality, who will help you put the fragments of your heart back together?"
One thing about Mad Cave Studios is that they will have a crazy concept and deliver it well! I love the little Alice in Wonderland references and the magical realism splashed throughout. The art and use of colour for each teenager/heartbreak hotel guest's story are also incredibly gorgeous.

જ⁀➴ A hotel where you can stay and (hopefully) heal from your nasty nasty heartbreak? Four floors, four rooms, four traumatized teenagers? A GRAPHIC NOVEL?? Hell yeah.
⊹ The idea? I’m obsessed.
⊹ Illustrations? So grateful i’m not sightless because this was such an adorable masterpiece.
Characters development wasn’t very developed because we were mostly focusing on their trauma and healing journey, but was there even a healing journey? I don’t think so. As a cute, fun graphic novel, it was amazingly done. But even though the main theme IS trauma, healing process is creative and intriguing, but not very believable or realistic—i het that you cannot exactly fit the whole paragraph of words into one bubble but this?
⊹ Fictional part? Chef’s kiss.
⊹ Hard, raw and real part? It could have been done better.
Summarized? Read it. Maybe you’ll like it. Maybe not. But those illustrations… you have to!!
Thank you to Netgalley and Mad Cave Studios for an arc💕

What a lovely graphic novel.
It was fun, it was informative and most of all it was heart-breaking.
This was a very original take on the various phases of grief, how to deal with, how to move on and how to help others doing the same.
Would absolutely snag a physical copy and keep it close to my heart.

Omg, what did I just read? And what is this watery stuff coming from my eyes? This graphic novel shouldn't have me feeling the way I do reading this book. Omg!!!!! Heartbreak Hotel is a masterpiece in my eyes. I did feel like it dragged a little and could have been a little shorter, but I was highly invested in Maya's story.

Thank you, NetGalley, and Mad Cave Studio for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 ⭐
Everything about this graphic novel was brilliant. I honestly loved it!
I enjoyed the way the colours changed on the page depending on what the story was telling us.
The emotion was there and I shed some tears over all the characters, their stories and their pain.
This graphic novel tells the story of four teenagers, each going through their own heartbreak and why they are spending the night at The Heartbreak Hotel, an emotional purgatory they all must find a way to leave and move on from.
The art style is so beautiful and the story was incredibly easy to follow along with.
I laughed, cried and just all round enjoyed every moment of this story.
I also really appreciated the little Alice in Wonderland references, they were super sweet. I loved our little Jack Rabbit, he is a cutie, and of course Neko!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Mad Cave studios for the opportunity to arc read this beautiful graphic novel.

This was a good book.
It tackles about a story where those broken hearted people get somewhat resurected at a hotel where the people that stays there are heartbroken either by a loss of a person, the betrayal of a person, or by a connection that got lost.
I thoroughly enjoyed it but had a bit of a hard time reading the pages because sometimes I don't get the sequence like where to read first or if i should read the left portion of the page first or the right. But the story is good because it left me lesson to let go in order for you to let go and be happy.

Heartbreak Hotel broke me to pieces, poured gold in the wound, and then carefully pieced me back together more beautiful than before.
This haunting graphic novel is about four teenagers, each dealing with their own kind of heartbreak. They wake up at the Heartbreak Hotel to relive the day that broke their hearts, but what happens from the time they wake up is up to them. The hotel will cater to almost any wish. But their time at the hotel is not infinite and won’t affect the world outside their little bubble. Once their time is up, they go back to the world they knew after the heartbreak happened, but first, they must find the key to unlocking their way out of the hotel.
Heartbreak Hotel is a story that is at times both thoughtful and blunt with its realizations, not holding back on making these teens face hard truths, while also giving them a safe space to figure out how to cope. There were times when I was slightly confused about who was speaking or which speech bubble to read next, though in fairness the artist adds helpful arrows at some points. In any case, I adore this graphic novel. The art is gorgeous and the story is touching. It made me cry in the best and worst of ways. I loved each character that was introduced for all their flaws as well as their glories, and felt the weight of the burdens they’d been dealt with a depth I didn’t expect. I doubt the Heartbreak Hotel allows for repeat residents, but I definitely wouldn’t mind another stay.
Content warnings for a side character death, mentions of panic attacks, and depictions alluding to abuse.
Thank you Mad Cave Studios for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I picked this book up because i liked the idea of a hotel you go to after a heartbreak. Now i did not know this was a graphic novel until opening the book, so i didn’t begin reading it with high expectations, however this 210 page graphic novel somehow made me laugh and cry? It was incredibly heartfelt and the ending gave some really good closure. Will definitely be picking up more graphic novels in the future!

Thank you for this ARC. The cover really caught my eye and the story was great i thought it was a great concept as we see the characters which we had around 4 different stories but also intertwined in the novel as well and we see our characters deal with what they deal with from friendships crushes or just moments of life that people go through and the artwork was so cute i loved all the light bubble gum color vibes the artwork gave off while we saw our characters in the heartbreak hotel. I thought this book had a great batch of personalities as well and i enjoyed each of their stories.

This book was written beautifully. The story was very warm and cozy with a touch of heartbreak and sadness. I was drawn in from the very first page. I enjoyed the fact it was about 4 different people who all are heart broken in a way but came together and mended their broken hearts.

this was a really interesting concept and I loved how it panned out, I just wish the art style was a bit more structured. I appreciated how real they tried to make the teens and their experiences, even down to how mood swingy and dramatic they were, I wish the ending of the hotel was a liiiiiittle different, I feel like it would've been a better message, but for the most part, a unique way to deal with grief in different forms

Unfortunately not something that really resonated with me. I didn’t enjoy the artwork at all. While I thematically liked the story, the almost fantastical aspects made it hard for me to really like it.

I found the concept of this graphic novel pretty interesting, but I didn’t like most of the characters, which impacted my overall enjoyment of the book.
The art style was really cute though.

This isn’t a fast-paced story. It’s reflective, almost meditative, and leans more into feelings than plot. But I think that’s precisely its charm. It doesn’t try to dramatize heartbreak. Instead, it gently shows how messy, confusing, and deeply personal it is. The soft touch of magical realism gives the hotel a dreamlike quality, like the emotional limbo we often feel after a loss. The illustrations are soft and beautiful.
If you’re looking for a tender, understated read that understands teenage pain without exaggeration, this one will sit with you long after you’ve closed the last page.
