Carol Voss knows how to write books that we fall in love with. the characters, the plot, the places she takes us to are all ones that wiggle into your heart and take up firm seats there.
watching these two characters who once loved each other come back together years later was a joy.
but it wasn't always dreamy and magical reunion. nope. because these two had their own stuff going on from both then and now.
Patrick in particular was in pain, and not knowing what that was and the slow reveal that Carol gave to us of just what had gone on for him was heartbreaking but brilliant. you don't just know the reason and there is it. you get to feel it first, he shows you it, you learn what is is through getting to know him.
Rachel and Patrick had such an endearing connection. it was clear in those younger years and in their present ones. and how those weariness and wondering where still there but also very different with the different ages.
then the slowly working through things. being there with each other and for each other was something so beautiful to watch happen.
we also have a great cast of secondary characters. they are all added flavours to this recipe and bakes up into one tasty ensemble of people you get to love. the care, the interactions and support with all the others was key in a book like this and adds so much to it and also then who our main characters are.
these kind of stories when done well are one of my favourites right now. and Carol we can always rely on to do them well. when i see her name on a book i smile and think yes i'm in safe hands here. and i was. i was i was i was. and i'm so glad for it. there is something so comforting about coming to a book like this.

Loved reading the inspirational and entertaining story. When Patrick comes home for a wedding, the only person he wants to avoid is Rachel, the woman who broke his heart. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting romance story.

A wonderful love story that encompasses so much real life living. It's an encouraging book, reminding me to always trust God's provision.

“Rachel’s Song”, by Carol Voss, is a poignant yet heartwarming and hopeful story about two people who were high school sweethearts and now both face uncertainty and challenges in their lives.
The author’s slow revealing of Patrick’s situation, making a very limited delivery of information and making us, readers, watch his issues and its devastating and pervading effects through the hero’s limited perspective, is amazing.
I was curious, intrigued and at some point knew it had to be serious, because of all Carol Voss’s showing.
I loved the romance between Patrick and Rachel in their youth and how it translates to the present, with fears, doubts, pain, and wariness. With sincerity, too.
I also loved these two as individuals who separated, have gone through so much and get committed again.
I really liked watching Patrick overcome his distrust and the lack of confidence and self-worth.
Watching them doing things together and talking was great, too.
I also liked the secondary characters, the relationships and interactions. The love and support is wonderful.
