Prepare to immerse yourself in a stunning forest fantasy. I'm a sucker for a nature setting, especially the forest, so I was immediately drawn to this one.

Xander, our heroine, is fueled by revenge after a huge loss in her family. She must set out alone in hopes of finding her aunt. She meets a variety of fantastic characters along the way and adventure ensues.

We have mystical creatures, mind readers, little sprite-like people, bug people, lizard kings - there is something for everyone in this book.

The book goes back and forth from present time to the past; before the invasion. I enjoyed seeing snippets of the past to see how the characters were shaped. It also takes place over a few years, so in a way it's a coming of age story for Xander

This is a really great debut book and I enjoyed reading it. I can say I was confused just a bit at times when they shrunk themselves, I wasn't always sure if they were big or small when traveling through the forest.

This is the first of a trilogy, and I can't wait to see how this revenge arc plays out!!
