Kikko follows her father through the woods as he was supposed to bring a pie to her grandmother. With her mother's permission she will simply follow his footprints in the snow as she brings the pie. Kikko ends up at a different house with a variety of animals preparing for a tea party. She has a problem with the pie, but the animals offer a solution.
The charcoal and pen illustrations are beautifully done - giving the red and yellow colors of Kikko a dramatic presence on the pages. Not until the animals interact with Kikko does color seep into their drawings.
Thanks to Kids Can Press, Akiko Miyakoshi and NetGalley for this ARC.

I struggled with this one to be honest. It’s not my usual genre, so no reflection on the author. Sorry!

This wasn't a favorite of mines. The art was a little weird (some might even say mildy creepy) and the story was quite boring.

This is a very cute story the illustrations have a lie of their own. Kids were in giggles during the story reading. The colorful parts contrasted so well with the grey parts. There is a sense of magic and mild feeling that soem wild thing could happen all along. It would have been fun tosee the footprints of the animal. Findign the objects meant to be spotted got a litle tricky. May be there should have been a small sign in each page. it seemed to work well in another book where we ahd to spot the recycling sign.
