Matteo want to help Bella escape before she was forced to sell herself as her mother did. Both of them has known each other and was infatuated with each other. However when Bella failed to turn up to escape with him then, their relationship was ended until they met again 5 years later where Bella is working as a chambermaid in the hotel which Matteo is considering to buy.

I love both main characters. Bella is a strong character whom doesn’t go down without a fight whilst Matteo doesn’t come across as a nice character given his bad childhood. There is an obvious chemistry between both of them despite them not acknowledging it. Overall It is an interesting book to read which gives you a twist on modern day Cinderella’s story
