Thank you so much to Union Square Kids and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

This is a very unique historical horror, set during the war protagonist Harry is moved to the seaside coast as his family inherits a non existent manor. The stories about the manor begin and Harry learns of the Doom, only soon he will come realise the strange truth surrounding the place.

The devil himself is so seldom used in a horror book, but I found the that way it was created to bring him to life was really fascinating and very unexpected. Though they talked about the Doom its actual revelation is honestly such a twist.

Though I personally found some of the storyline very slow and took a while to get to the actual point, I did find I enjoyed it when we got there though and enjoyed the horror element within the story.

The characters were okay, but felt a little flat at times. Harry was a lot older than the writing led you to believe, until his age reveal I’d imagined he was around 9 and was in complete shock after the fact his was a lot older than that. He didn’t act or get treated to the age that was mentioned.

I still think this is a very creative and great historical horror aimed for the younger readers and the dyslexic readers who would enjoy this a lot, getting to see a glimpse at the war, without the fully nitty gritty aspect of it, and also having a very creepy horror story unfold too, with mystery surrounding it all.
