This was so much fun!

I liked watching Diana explore and find out more about herself. The article that first "inspired" her to consider more than being a "proper" lady was upsetting, sure, but I'm glad that rather than just stew about it, she went out and did something. I liked her choice to go on the cruise and the way she stood up for herself when Monroe was trying to suggest she wait for he and Devons to find activities. I will admit to shouting "don't do it!" when she agreed to let her mother come back, but I'm glad she finally kicked out the harpy out. I also liked the way she handled Tremont (although I wouldn't have minded if some tea had accidentally fallen in his lap). Once she and Sebastian figured stuff out, I liked that she was all in and told him that she loved him as he was and didn't want him changing himself because of some skewed lens he was looking through.

Sebastian was interesting. I liked that he didn't care too much about what others thought about him (except for when he was trying to be noble there at the end, but I think we can excuse that lunacy because he's in love) and he was his own person. The fact that he agreed to go on the cruise was a bit of a surprise, but I liked that he was willing to be involved with the Historical Society for Female Curators in the way that Addie wanted. I did laugh at his jealousy on the SS Lark because even though he thought he was doing what was right for both of them, he was just gone and I loved it! I will admit to laughing at the way he handled Tremont at the club and his little whispered comment about things.

I will admit that I wished there'd been a little more archeology/exploring involved, but at the same time, there was enough because Diana was able to find new things for others who wanted to go on the cruise and if she'd found everything this time, while it might be fun for someone else, it would lose the novelty. There were some editing issues (extra words, handful of spelling errors, etc) but nothing too bad.

This was a fun intro to this series and there's enough hints that have been dropped and I can't wait to read about the other members of Historical Society for Female Curators! And honestly, I will probably at least go find Clara and Sam's story, and probably Malcolm and Sophia's too. At least to start!

I loved the chemistry between the rogue and the widow, I felt so bad for her how her husband died and it made me feel so sorry for her character. Although it was a great read in the beginning some of the parts were a bit boring for me. Diana, recently widowed craves the excitement her life has always lacked. Sebastian, a rakish co-owner of a scandalous club, is the last man society would pair with a lady of the ton. But when fate throws them together, sparks fly as they set out on a journey that leads to discovery, danger, and an unexpected chance at love. I did love the whole story about the city of portugal, my husband is portuguese so it felt like home. Also I loved the widow versus rogue love trope. I usually feel that its too sappy but this was a good story.

This was my first "bodice ripper" romance - I had a fun time with this! You can tell that the author is invested in her characters. I began the book feeling like I wanted more background on Clara and her story, and after doing some research on the author and her writing I discovered that this series is a spin-off of another series, which makes a lot of sense.

The story was fun and whimsical and I really liked the travel aspect. I wish there had been more antiquities involved.

Some romance tropes are just not my favorite - forbidden love is fun, but I tend to get a little bored when it takes up most of the conflict in a novel. Things didn't get exciting until 50% through the book. I also really struggle to push through miscommunication tropes, but it didn't take too long for those issues to resolve. The spicy scenes were not bad, just a tad repetitive. Most of it is PIV, and I found myself skimming them towards the end of the book to read more about the plot.

Overall, I thought Diana's character was sympathetic, especially her complicated feelings with expectations and strained relationships with her parents.

The author set the story up nicely for a continuation in the series and I would not be against continuing the series in the future.

If you like fast paced, fun romances with some spice that don't take the world building too seriously, I definitely recommend this for you.

This was enjoyable, but not quite what I was expecting. There wasn’t much archaeology or history in the story and neither hero or heroine were really interested in it. The writing was also clunky with some awkward word choices.

A widow and a rogue take an adventure to help fund an all woman's antiquities club in Victorian England, fun ensues. Diana is a recently widowed Lady of the ton and feels stuck in her role as mother to a soon to be Duke. She's looking for a change and an adventure her life never allowed. Sebastian is a rogue who co-owns a club known for being salacious. Both get tossed together and have an adventure finding themselves and each other.

The Wanton Adventure made me cry, laugh, and fall in love with the characters. I truly had a wonderful time reading this and will definitely be picking up the next ones.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Ramona Elmes for the ARC!
