Thank you HarperCollins Australia for providing this ARC for free via NetGalley! All opinions are my own.
Pitcher Perfect was my first Tessa Bailey book and let me tell you... I was ready to buy her entire collection of works just 7% in.
The vibes included:
✅ forced proximity
✅ fake dating
✅ a man obsessed
and it was done so well!!!
Robbie is giving golden retriever, but also NSFW. I love that we got his perspective. There’s nothing like the internal monologue of a man who is absolutely infatuated.
The plot was ridiculous in the best way.
There were some nods to High School Musical that warmed my Disney Channel heart. However, I did find myself ready for things to wrap up towards the end.
I appreciated being able to read this one without having read the rest of the Big Shot series. Tessa did an incredible job reacquainting/introducing the characters. They felt like real people with real problems, who I’d love to get to know. I’ll be backtracking to read their stories for sure.
Overall, if you’re looking for a light, comedic sports romance, Pitcher Perfect is your girl.

Tessa Bailey knows how to write a romance book! She writes books with cinnamon roll men, men who fall first and men who fall very hard (and usually very quickly).
Pitcher Perfect has some really fun inclusions:
- He falls first and hard
- "Teach me"
- Sport romance (ice hockey and baseball)
- Competitive family activities
- Playboy turned committed
- Cameos by favourite characters from other books in the series
- Grand and romantic gestures
- A not so friendly competition
I liked Pitcher Perfect a lot, this book was right up there with my favourites from Tessa Bailey. It's easy to sit down and inhale this book, then realise hours have passed by without you realising.
If you enjoy anything I've mentioned above, or are a Tessa Bailey fan, you'll enjoy Pitcher Perfect!

Tessa Bailey’s Pitcher Perfect is a light, easy read with moments of charm, but it ultimately lacks the depth to make it truly memorable. The story leans heavily on the insta-love trope, which may appeal to some readers, but for me felt rushed and combined with the fake-dating trope seemed pretty inauthentic The emotional stakes stayed pretty surface level again with only fleeting moments of depth. Overall a fun and inoffensive read, but not one that lingers.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for providing an advanced copy for review.

¿verdad?
Gracias NetGalley por el ARC.

If you're in the mood for a well written, funny romance that isn't complicated, 'Pitcher Perfect' is a great option! Whilst this book is part of a series, I love that Tessa Bailey writes to ensure her stories can be easily read outside of a typical series structure. With so many books to read, it is nice to know I can always count on her for a happily ever after, without the need to have read the prior books beforehand.
Whilst Skylar’s personality and behaviours feel real to me, I question the authenticity of some scenes in Pitcher Perfect. Robbie’s complete turnaround in behaviour came on very fast and seems ingenuine and unrelatable. I don’t believe anyone can have such an instantaneous epiphany like Robbie did, which makes his character arc unbelievable at times. Robbie also made a song and dance about Skylar deserving more from a partner, in regard to previous rushed experiences. Yet after the first time, Robbie does the same as every other man in Skylar’s past; he rushes the foreplay.
Despite these points standing out to me whilst I was reading, they do not come as a detriment to the overall novel and the plot of ‘Pitcher Perfect.’ I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I’m sure many others will love it too!!

Tessa Bailey can do no wrong in my eyes so I had a lot of fun with this. I’m not a fan of third act breakups so it did lose a star from me for that. I’m interested to see where she takes this series because she writes such great supporting characters that you could see any one of them getting their own book.
