Hit List by Ian Loome
Rogue Warrior #9
~ Intense, immersive, action-packed thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ Great addition to the series ~
What I Liked:
* Bob Singleton: ex-military, ex-CIA assassin, recovering alcoholic, strong, lethal, has his own moral compass, intelligent, protective, cautious, intriguing, tenacious, resolute, pays his debts, seems to want to slow down but never given a break
* Adam Renton: Freelance mission handler for Bob and others, former NSA, spook and signals intelligence expert, intriguing, enjoyed seeing him again and having a glimpse of his home protection devices
* The flashback to when he met Eddie Stone and how it played into this story
* The way Bob adapts and adjusts in and out of life-threatening action scenes
* The plot, pacing, setting, twists & turnas, and writing
* Being able to dislike the “bad guys” and wish Karma – or Bob – will find them
* The way some of Bob’s past decisions impacted his interactions with acquaintances in this book
* The way spies must look at their lives and what they do – got a sense of this a bit and that not all are similarly motivated though I am sure all want to come through alive
* Nangial and his family that provided more insight about Bob
* That I respect Bob and what he does to help those he considers friends
* Thinking about where Bob will end up next and what person he will decide to help AND wondering if he will ever be able to retire and relax
* All of it except…
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like – and there were a few
* The person that put the hit on Bob’s head and his reason for doing so
* Thinking about how difficult it would be to keep one’s mind and body focused if in Bob’s situation while unable to truly trust anyone
* Having to wait for the next book
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC – this is my honest review.
5 Stars

I'm pretty sure by now that Bob Singleton cannot die! This man has taken more punches/bullets than any one person should and he just keeps on trucking!
For a lone wolf he's collecting a whole host of friends/allies and even a paramour or too! The CIA may still be on his trail but Bob has so far managed to keep one step ahead of them. But his run of luck may just have run out. Albany, NY doesn't automatically come to mind when you think of the Mafia but it looks like Bob has kicked another hornets nest!
There are so many hitters out to unalive our Bob that I kind of got lost with them all! Enemies become allies and Bob is never quite sure who he can trust.
Eddie Stone and his crew of CIA goons are still making his life a misery and I really enjoyed the twists the storyline took with the characters.

This is the 9th book in the Rogue Warrior series. I have not read the other books of the series, there are some references to the past which will be clearer to the people who have read the other books but it can still be read as standalone and enjoyed. Actually I have enjoyed this 😊 It's like an action movie being played on screen! It can be a great movie or series if it is made well 😀 It was a rollercoaster ride with the main character! It's that 'on the edge of your seat' thriller which I love! Loved the adrenaline rush! Thanks Netgalley and Inkubator Books for the early copy 😊

Hit List is the latest book in the Rogue Warrior series focusing on ex special ops/CIA assassin Bob Singleton who has been on the run for years as the CIA try to clean up after an op gone bad. While they have always been after him, the pressure is greater this time as it isn't just his old bosses who want him gone but a large bounty on his head too.
The book is the ninth in the series, but they are all very readable as standalones. If you are unfamiliar with the books, imagine Reacher if his bosses wanted him dead. He has a loyal streak and wants what is right but also doesn't let it get in the way of harming people or killing when needed - and there is a lot of it needed.
I was happy to see more of Eddie and Renton in this book and some history of when Bob joined the clandestine group within the CIA looking for life after the service. There is a lot happening in this book, I thought the story was close to the end and was surprised that I was only 60% through the book.
The end of this closes up some ongoing storylines. Maybe Bob has a bit of an easier time in the future - but I doubt it. Thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for the copy for review.

This is a well-written book, easy to read and with very good characters. There are plenty of action scenes, but they are like cartoons, where the main character just keeps going and going. And it's based on luck, not smarts.

I found this latest book by the author, interesting. When he realizes nothing
as it seems and he is a pawn in the game. I enjoyed reading this latest book
I was given arc copy...By Net Galley and Inkubator Books.

Bob Singleton is back in Hit List the brand new story from Ian Loome. I really like Bob, but there are many people who really don't and that is part of the ongoing problem in this series. That and his constant lack of money. Loome has created a character that speaks to me and I am really glad I found the work from this author and I can really recommend them to all fans of thrillers. In this adventure it's not some innocent person that needs help. The twists that Bob is up against is among the worst ever, will he make it? Well the book hits the shelves July 13th and then you can find out. I must thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for giving me an advance copy to enjoy.
